The LFG system, finally
(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-On3Ya0_4Y)
If this was 2006 I would agree with you, however GW1 had a LFG tool in it,
Not on launch! That LFG window was added extremely late in GW1’s development.
I notice you didn’t quote the second sentence in my post… As I said, the community asked for it and ONE DEV coded it to show HOW EASY it was to code…

You know I find it funny that everyone states that there is no LFG system currently in the game.
As there is one in the game. No-one uses it though as it is limited to the map on the server that you are on. It is not vary useful either as you can’t say what you are looking for.
Looking forward to the new LFG system. Has it been confirmed that it is region wide? I wonder how the 2 times per 24 hour guesting is going to play out. I forsee a lot more people hitting that max. If it is region wide hopefully I can prioritize by my server.
If it is also region wide it would make sense that they are rolling it out in phases.

Different game, and not high priority. Just because one dev easily coded one for GW1, does not automatically mean that coding one for GW2 is just as easy. After all, people have high expectations and demands for the LFG system. It has to be a reasonable alternative to the LFG website (something the GW1 lfg system did not really have to compete with). So coding one for GW2 requires careful design, and a lot of testing to get it right.

I think a lot of it was ArenAnet did not think it was needed. At launch there was multiple threads started we need a LFG tool. Multiple people said. There is one already in the game.
I think this is another case of the players surprised the developers. The developers may have thought that players would play the events on the map the dungeon is on while looking for a group. This ended up not happening.

Actually no, we know FOR A FACT that the base code of GW2 is updated from GW1’s, there is a LOT of the GW1 DNA flowing through GW2, it’s an evolutionary step, however a lot of the GW1 veterans see it as somewhat a backward step
GW2 is supposed to be a full blown MMO, and its 2013, where is the AutoQueuing LFG tool for Dungeons you have access too, etc?
As a games journalist that plays MMO’s as part of his job, I call BS on it and I’ll be saying that next week at Eurogamer aswell!

Maybe they didn’t think it was needed at launch and that’s a MASSIVE failing!
When I get to a certain level, my character gets an ingame mail to say, “Heres a dungeon, Go Do It!”, so why is there no LFG to LET me go do it straight away?

Honestly,
A qeued system would be better then what this is sounding like, with a lockout so that people cant kick players, they can leave, but not kick out folks, furthermore, there should be a timer for disconnects, say 3 minutes. As it sounds now, might as well keep using theunofficial lfg (ggw2lfg.com). But we will see when it comes out

It may be based on the GW1 engine, but it’s still a new engine. Things are different, it’s not exactly the same thing. Servers/overflows are organized differently now as well, which would be a pretty big deal for coding a LFG tool. And like I said, demands have increased too. The original GW1 LFG tool would no longer be sufficient. Players demand more, and have slightly higher standards.

I disagree. Without knowing the opinion of the people actually developing this tool, I don’t think you can make that call.

After 8 years of knowing these guys, I can make a pretty kitten ed solid assumption

How can you complain in this matter? Regardless of how useful the tool is, its still an improvement, as it gives us a function that this game has been in dire need of. The simple fact is, that this tool will revolutionize party finding(on GW2 at any rate) so give it a chance.

You’re right, we don’t know what it’ll be yet, however a lot of us will have been spoilt by Major AAA MMO titles that have great LFG Queue systems

This is true, I’m not making excuses for GW2, they should have had this feature at release, but regardless it is here now, so lets not turn it away simply because it lacks that defining touch that we have come to accept from other games. If when it is released, it is weak because of these discrepancies, then they will amend it… eventually. Haha, nothing is set in stone and as I recall, every new computer or gaming system requires a patch, so if all the bolts aren’t in place yet, its only a matter of time. As players are fond of reminding me when I complain about the quality of Living Story, GW2 is still, ‘testing the waters’.
Thank you for this feature.
I can’t wait for this to arrive tomorrow!
This sounds like an exciting (and very much needed) feature. I cant wait to see what options are available in the beginning, hopefully something that will help players looking for more then just dungeons (such as guild missions, player made events, and so on), although i do see that being the primary use.
I will also remain hopeful that I can post in this LFG tool without having to actively monitor it…. (aka having to delete a post after finding a group, or telling others “sorry, group full, I was just in too much of a hurry to delete the post hehehe….”)
As a player who stood in outposts for years in GW1, having to scream LFG, what is everyone complaining about?
Sure, the LFG website showed that a need for this tool existed since launch, but I’d rather see them get it right, than rush a half-baked tool into the game.
Well, you’d have an argument against what you’re saying there if they weren’t putting this into beta beforehand.
Considering all of their other releasing have been buggy messes.
press alt+tab and play in windowed mode, you don’t have to leave the game, you just switch windows
Alt+tab works fine in fullscreen mode, at least on my system.

On my main system, I have three monitors. No alt+tabbing needed.
