“Maybe I was the illusion all along!”

Once you get the rhythm down it’s fine, and I guess this is more of a nit-pic immersion breaking thing. But does anyone else experience this?
Jumping over the wave as it gets to you seems to have you get hit.
When on the other hand jumping significantly before its anywhere near you or even actively jumping to land in the wave seems to be perfectly safe?
Is it just lag on my end? I find this design very strange especially when your designed to react to the physical ques on screen.
Also kind of a QQ – Blurred frenzy wont avoid the wave at all saaaaaaaaaaaaaadddddddddddddd faaaaaaaaaceeeeeeee (jk that’s not a big deal)

It’s the desync bug. Visible and damage parts of the wave do not match sometimes. Might be a latency based glitch, as it seems not everyone has it.
Yeah, it happens to my boyfriend and I, too. We get hit before the wave even comes near us. Very frustrating because I actually love this mechanic.
man with all the effects going off (and i have them turned down) and lag I can’t even see the waves 3/4 of the time. Irritating to say the least.
It may be silly, but I find “bunny hopping” as the wave is coming towards you to be fairly helpful. Even got 2-3 achievement ticks per wave sometimes and got the full tiered achievement rather quickly.

Thanks for the tip!
I think the reason is that the waves are not static and continue to move towards you, so if you only jump when the wave is in front of you, you will get hit before you reach the required height to go over the wave. If you jump early and jump forward, you’ll have a much bigger chance of clearing it than if you wait and jump.
Alternatively abuse the programming with bunny hops, as has been stated, seemed to be the safest approach.
I have this issue as well. I just try to jump way early, and as I land into the wave, it doesn’t hit me.
I also noticed there are a few phases where Tequatl simply turns everything into a slide show. There are moments where the battle is simply unplayable, or crashes a pc to desktop. Oddly enough, it is my powerhouse of a pc that crashes to desktop, and my simple laptop that simply stutters a lot, but continues. Guess I’ll have to settle with poor frame rate.
Yeah, that’s how it works for me too. I jump early, before the wave is supposed to “hit” me, and I can usually avoid it that way. Or dodge roll into the wave; that works too.
You can jump over the waves only for the first 50% of his health, after 50% the waves are larger which means you have to roll through them. Also I noticed that it’s easier to jump ONTO the wave, rather than over it, to avoid damage, just as you said.
