Q:
What affects the # of champions spawning?
I think Teq has the same amount of health no matter how many players show up, but the more people you have at the turrets/batteries, Champs will start spawning. That’s why it’s important to have no more than 10 – 15 defenders at each of the turret sites, because any more than that and Champions will start giving you serious problems. (Especially if a Champion Risen Grub shows up.)
I hope that is not the case. There are some players who hold back from the zerg or run back for breathing room from the waves. If the dps on Teq drops because players are not on him, is that not enough to cause a fail? I swear my five group members and I tanked a continuous stream of champions around the far East turret. There were several times we tanked 2 or 3 at a time.
The problem with that mechanic, if it is true, is that we cannot keep other players from entering the turret area.
I hope that is not the case.
You hope in vain. I have been in many defence groups so far, and the difference between spawns when you are in a small group, and in a big one (or when 20+ people that died in one wave comes running right through turrets from Broolonu wp, or when there are a lot of afkers at Eastern turret group)) is blatantly easy to see. With small groups you might get one-two champs per whole event. With big groups you get them every wave, with possible several at once, and Champion Risen Grubs and Champ Abominations will start to spawn, which usually means a destroyed turret.
