Whats the point of choosing a server when everyone can just guest and make hours of queue?

I really liked the TQ event, but the agony to get in your OWN server is just horrible and ruins the total experience for me.

Please Anet, find something for this annoying problem.

Yea well I guess others need to have the achievement too, but when the fight starts.. you see so many unknown players with unknown guilds standing only AFK.

That makes the fight fail too..

Guess I never play TQ again.

The point of guesting has been ruined by the players that seek the most comfortable coattails to ride to success. Instead of trying to work together on their own server they proclaim everyone else on that server incompetent and try to get a free ride on another server (ironically proving themselves to be the incompetent party when their presence makes that previously successful server fail).

One way to recreate the point of guesting which is friends being able to play together despite server boundaries would be to make guesting “invite only” meaning someone on the server you want to guest to has to invite your account to do so.

Caveat: it will still be abused by larger communities of internet locusts like SA or Reddit.

Pff wanted to have fun again, and ended up again on an overflow even 1 hour before the spawn.

Content is great, but the mechanics to play with your friends is not.

Why should I wait while a guester holds my spot.. Pfff kitten, finally something fun in the game and I cannot even enjoy it ( Overflows fail to much )

^^^ This +1 Some servers have had problems with guesting during other events as well. Massive guesting causes 2 problems. The first is that it often pushes people off of their own home server and into overflow. Secondly when people mass guest they leave the rest of the players on their server behind and without enough people to do certain events. Then players on those lower population servers complain that there are not enough people. So they guest as well and then we are back to problem 1.

You could always make it where having friends from another server, puts your entire group in an overflow.

I know what your going to say.

But folly, how is that fair? Well, if they are your friends, why arent they on your server to begin with.

I was very excited when I heard that my home world, Tarnished Coast, was the second server to get Taco down.

Unfortunately, the accomplishment is completely meaningless, because it’s likely that less than half of the players participating are actually from Tarnished Coast.

WvW is supposed to foster some sort of loyalty, or at least pride, for your home server. This could have been a chance for those of us who don’t like WvW to share in some home server pride. Unfortunately, all it really means is that TC is a high-population server that has some name recognition.

Seems like a missed opportunity to me.

My other worry is for/about newer players. With yet another free trial on the way (and likely, the goldseller spam that comes with it), ANet is still clearly focused on attracting new players. What do you think that will mean for how the Tequatl fight goes down 6-12 months from now? I started seeing abusive, self-important jerks screaming at people in map chat within 2 hours of the patch going live (in an overflow, no less), when NO ONE knew how to beat it. Fast forward a year, and try to imagine yourself as a brand new player trying to do this event.

The way the fight is set up right now needs to be tweaked. I believe that the difficulty is appropriate (if a little heavy-handed), but a mechanic (cannons) through which as few as 3 people, either intentionally or not, can make the fight absolutely impossible for everyone else can only lead to problems.

I don’t think that is necessary. Simply allowing guests on invite only would cut back on a lot of it. Of course there would have to be some limit to concurrent invites as well. For example you couldn’t invite 100 “friends”.

Looking at the thread of server accomplishments, no server group has defeated Teq without the majority being on VOIP. With or without afker’s, if you are in a random where everyone relies upon chat box typing, consider the chances of you downing Teq at 0.0000001 pct.
