Who thinks this is impossible?
This is just stupid. I showed up at Teq and got 1-shotted twice before I could even figure out what was going on.
Good job Anet. Waiting on TESO.
I’m cool with it being a pretty much commonly failed event. BUT its just soooo boring…
Something should be done at the least to try to even the playing field. No matter how you slice it, there’s always going to be a level of unnecessary difficulty due to the people you’re working with, and that’s something that cannot be avoided in the current state.

Well, Anet anticipated this so they kindly made revival part of the daily.
Also, Contesting the way point was a fantastic idea. Way to encourage players NOT to run back after dying just to immediately die again. In other words, even the players that weren’t AFK, are now AFK because it’s just a waste of time. 8 more days of this garbage kitten event and I get some nice wings! Yay!
For the first few attempts, I thought we were doing something mechanically wrong, but even then, it ultimately comes down to us having nto enough time or him having too much health. Its insane. 40 people dpsing him for 5 minutes only get his health down 8 percent. Thats a joke.
The problem I see here, is that it just doesn’t feel right to fail an event after fighting him for 15 minutes and not really doing anything wrong. You don’t really fail the event because you neglected to defend something. You fail because the boss has way too much health for an average group of players participating to take down within the time that is given. 60 people fighting him, actively on the turrets and on the ground… and only down to 80% health?! Then what’s the point?

Well, my one experience with it while griefers were resetting the whole server every 2 -3 minutes sure creates the impression of impossiblility. Now that the greifing has supposedly been patched I’ll have to give it another go to draw any conclusions at all.
Thanks griefers from the bottom of my heart for ruining what should have been such a fun day. Lets hope you all enjoy your bans.
Between this and ascended gear I’m starting to believe Anet is catering to elite players. It has been a growing trend since Queen’s Gauntlet.
In their own manifesto trailer Anet said that they would not build the same MMO as everyone else. But these changes show that they are indeed building the same MMO as everyone else.
I’m not playing GW2 for the OMGL33TG34R. I’m playing GW2 because I like the story. I am interested to see where the story goes. Tequatl doesn’t even feel like it has a story attached to it. All I got was mail that told me “Tequatl is uber. Here’s a stick. Go look into it!” How in the world is this in any way connected to the lore?! What is going on?
Anet tell us what’s going on with the story and lore? And please don’t hide behind “PR” speak. I want to know.

Well, Blackgate just got it down to 25% and we just need at most 2 more minutes to finish it, so it’s definitely possible. Expecting a success run tomorrow the latest:)
try this on for size instead of giving up, one of those turret buff skills (4 or 5, dont recall) is a mass aoe quickness… all the dps you ever need

They are not catering to them. They are just finally creating content for them. There is PLENTY of casual content in this game and has been in nearly every single release (Including this one). There is next to nothing to keep elite players enticed beyond tons of farming for a legendary.
HoD just failed the event with less then 80 people. Our problem is that we can’t get the DPS out in lower numbers but since Teq is in a normal PvE area, the numbers we need can be occupied by those that have no interest in the boss. Because of this we hit a number issue where we are divided due to the overflow protocol and leaving us unable to get Teq down below 15%, even with a well organized strategy and repair squad to keep the turrets up. Not saying the encounter is horrible I enjoy the challenge, but there just doesn’t seem enough time or space in the server to make the DPS we need to bring him down.

I didn’t know that a couple of events was representative of the whole game.
“Elite” players are still players. Heaven forbid Anet make something for all gamer types. You have easy content, you have hard content, and everything in between. If some of it is too hard for you, you should stick to easier, less stressful things. Let us players who like a challenge have our fun.
Just stick with it, you guys. It’s the first twelve hours of this event and people are still learning the ins and outs of this event. I think it’s an unrealistic expectation to be able to ace the new content the first time you try it, or even repeated attempts. Maybe the people that remain after the ‘mass exodus’ of the impatient will we find success.
1 Shot kills are not content.
And yes, I have 21k HP.
A home server MIGHT get this, simply because they have enough people. I’m really not sure if an overflow will ever get this since so far I haven’t seen it even break 25%.
I’m feeling like why it may not be impossible, it’s certainly very improbable that people will beat him. Simply too much health, and too hard to herd 100+ cats, I mean players, to beat him.
If an overflow can’t beat him, what is the point of having him spawn in overflows at all? This is an issue I brought up before during Scarlet’s invasions, where various overflows would have very little chance to win the event, simply due to the timer, and the limited number of players. These events need to scale based on the number of players that are there, so that even a mob of 30 players has a fair chance to be successful.
