I feel 25 points is a bit too much for it to be a healing skill. Now if it was an elite(which would require some serious healing power behind it), or the price was adjusted to 10 SP and thrown in the utility skill slots, I feel it would be perfect.
You guys could have about 500 of my skillpoint scrolls if they weren’t account bound.
You can get it without using SPs at all.
That is not being helpful in the least.
Healing Tome- : Antitoxin Spray
(this item costs 5 Gold coin + 250 Pristine Toxic Spore Samples Pristine Toxic Spore Sample; it is available from from Marjory Delaqua during Tower of Nightmares after giving her 50 of the samples)Still too much.
How was that not helpful? Op kittened about SP cost and this guy told him it was available for zero SP.
Sure he could have elaborated, but then you wouldn’t have had the chance to jump in here, put him down, and look like a hero while doing it.
First, i thought new healing skill will be useful in dungeons, but i was wrong
Second, i wasted my 25 SP for unuseful healing skill
Final, how can i use it safely in dungeons while i healing myseft and attacking mobs in the same time
Totally, unuseful healing skill
25 skill points is nothing compared to the veteran players who have been here since launch, OR who have been doing Champ runs daily and have stacks of Scrolls of Knowledge. For a new player, however, 25 skill points is a HUGE investment, and I don’t believe “go join the Champ train” is a suitable answer to their problem either, since not everybody likes farming.
That said, Antitoxin Spray IS a very niche skill, and we don’t know to what extent it’ll be required in any upcoming content. It may turn out to be unnecessary, or the party can get by as long as one person in the party has it. If this is the case, then yes, a 25 SP skill is fine since it’s permanently available and it’s not required.
Meh I bought it and have used it twice so far. once just to see the spell animation and once to actualy test it out under battle conditions. Being rather unimpressed I went back to my reguarly sloted heal. I’d say it was a waste of 25SP but you never know it might be handy in a potential future LS dungeon. That and it wasnt like I didnt have 25SP to spare several dozen times over.
I’d skip the skill if I were you (if you havn’t got it yet). It doesn’t heal enough, the toxic debuff isn’t dangerous, and the skill itself has far to long of a cool down.
I thought it was overpriced but I unlocked it with 25SP on my main. That’s it though. Can’t see the sense in doing so for my alts.
What bothers me is the steep cost potentially foreshadowing future new skills. Anet has said they plan to unlock all weapons and intro new skills. I’m hoping they won’t cost 25SP a piece for all my characters.
I didn’t mind the charge really. But I am not a new player. Like most have said it is not worth it anyhow.
I like the idea of this type of progression past 80 though. They just need to make it worth everyone’s time.
Or should we start complaining about not getting Legendary Weapons by simply logging in?
Because wanting a non-elite skill to cost no more than 5 to 10 SP max is totally the same as wanting a Legendary right upon log in, right?
What is your deal, man?
lordkrall has appointed himself the defender of anything and everything ArenaNet does.
Everything is fine because it’s what they decided it should be so he goes from thread to thread telling people that it’s fine and they should stop thinking there are problems with it because there aren’t any problems with it because it’s fine and if you think there’s something wrong with it then you’re wrong because it’s fine and you expect a full set of legendary everything for nothing because you said that something is wrong with something somewhere when it’s obviously fine… and so on and so forth.
He’s the very definition of a fanatic.
On the matter at hand, 25 skill points is far too expensive. All other healing skills cost 1-3 skill points, this is over 8 times that. If they continue like this then the elites they add will costs crazy amounts.
lol @ 25SP being too much. It’s a skill that is completely unnecessary, who cares if it’s 25SP. Do some world completion, run champ train for scrolls, or plain old level. I’m pretty sure I have 100+ SP worth of scrolls in my bank by now.
Correct me if I’m wrong (and I definately could be as I’m in work and can’t login to check) but the Krait historian achievement ~ don’t the obelisks that you locate provide a single SP per location?
I thought it was overpriced but I unlocked it with 25SP on my main. That’s it though. Can’t see the sense in doing so for my alts.

Seras gets it. The path to gear and skill up that was shallow at launch has changed and is continuing to change into a steeper path. GW2 is evolving into a game that rewards time spent, and almost nothing else. It seems that ANet learned they are not immune to the need to keep people p(l)aying after all.
You only have to unlock it with one of your toons, to possibly use with the next Living story.
You get free skill points every day once you get the shard Obliesk.
You get 5 skill points for doing one of the living story achievements
You get a chance at skill point scrolls off loot bags from killing any champ ( I have ~400 scrolls sitting in my bank).
You can buy the skill with pristine spores instead.
- Is this an issue for anyone…seriously?~ NO The reason it costs more is because the game has been out for a year and almost everyone has 100 or more unused points laying around. You really cant compare it (point- wise) to other skills that were released when GW2 first came out.
- Are any of my elite skills better than any of my other skills….no….in most cases I wish I could replace my elite skill with one of my other skills.
- Does a new person need this skill?…NO…they cannot enter this instance unless they are lvl 25 or higher. My guess is the next living story will probably be a dugeon type instance into the tower that will be higher lvl content.
Is complaining about every aspect of the game getting old?! YES

Incorrect, it does not give you a free skill point every day. It can only be used ONCE on that character, and then it’s just a place of power for charging crystals.
I think the biggest reason is cost balance.
If it cost 3 skill points, who would ever buy it from Marjory for 250 pristine spores and 5 gold? It would have to be like 25 spores and 20 silver or something to balance out.
And to those who will say make it that way. It would be ludicrously easy to obtain at that point because you get so many spores just playing the living story for 10 minutes.
I think the overall sentiment is somewhat correct. The skill, at this point, is pretty useless. However, I would be curious what some of you would say if it was a really good and useful skill and you didn’t have that as a reason not to complain.
On the other hand, it really isn’t that hard to farm 250 spores if you are doing the LS achievements and, if you aren’t, what reason would you need/want it for anyway?
I’m scared that this is only just the beginning.
Once they start rolling out new profession skills, they could easily be 50+ Skill Points a pop if the skill is actually good for something (unlike this heal skill). That’s the vibe Antitoxen Spray is giving me for being a whopping 25 Skill Points.
This definitely wont effect old players with tons of skill points on their main, so of course they’ll just sit here and disagree with my worries. But to new players or players with a lot of alts, having to collect ludicrous amounts of Skill Points just for a new skill sounds like a ton of work, especially when there’ll end up being more than 1 skill to go for at a time.
I knew ANet was going to handle adding new skills extremely poorly, so I’m not sure why I’m so shocked at the outcome. At least it’s not like we need Skill Points for anything else, like weapon skins or siege weapons… oh wait.
I think the biggest reason is cost balance.
If it cost 3 skill points, who would ever buy it from Marjory for 250 pristine spores and 5 gold? It would have to be like 25 spores and 20 silver or something to balance out.
And why would that be bad? Because it sure as hell isn’t worth the cost now.
Game NEEDS more high SP cost items, especially sidegrade skills. This increases breadth and depth of progression without adding uneccessary vertical progression.
In addition, SP is the only thing that you’ll literally never feel pressed to grind for. It just happens all the time.
The sheer breadth of skills and figuring out good interactions was the core of GW1. We have a more strict system in GW2 which makes adding skills to spice up a bar a lot less risky and headache inducing than designing skills in the first game. More skills/traits at high costs is a good thing the same way that adding new rune sets and sigils is a good thing. It broadens options and creates build diversity via scacity while not being a completely unfun “this or that” locked tree system.
^ While I did like the M:TG style of skills in GW1, you have to admit that it got a bit out of hand by the end. There were so many skills that the vast majority of them never got used, and balancing them all proved to be a headache for ANet. They wanted to avoid that situation in GW2.
I think the biggest reason is cost balance.

I didn’t say it was necessarily a bad thing. I just think that is the reason for the high SP cost.
Could there be more uses for SP? Sure.
Does a 25 SP lackluster outside of the current LS skill worry me about future skills? Absolutely.
I’m 100% sure that some people argue for the sake of arguing, i’ve read most of these arguments and man…. i hate people.
Ever considered that the high cost may be intentional as a form of ‘skill point sink’?
Ever considered that the high cost may be intentional as a form of ‘skill point sink’?
^ The “new skills” version of horizontal progression mentioned in the July blog is likely to be skill point intensive.

My thoughts exactly. I went to check out the LS stuff on my lvl 80 thief alt and after donating the 50 spore samples I’d managed to scrape together only to find I’d need a whole stack + 5 gold for this I checked the skills menu. My thief only had 12 skill points to spare and I decided I’d rather unlock all of her profession/racial skills first.
Hell my main doesn’t even have that many spare skill points as I have spent most of her earnings on eldritch scrolls for unique skinned mystic forge weps.
I really do hope this isn’t setting the bar for any future skills they add, I don’t want to do map completion or spend every waking hour grinding champions on every character just to be able to unlock all their available skills.
I think we’re all losing the point here, how do you convert 1 SP into 4 gold?!
I wish I had known I could just buy this thing with SP’s… I have zillions… I wasted 3 days getting 250 spores. And 5g isn’t nothing either.
Stupid me
Is anybody actually using this? I bought it anticipating needing it in the tower … but my ele, guardian and even mid-level necro all have far better ways to deal with the conditions in the tower.
Am I missing something? Is this actually useful on some professions? The cooldown is too long for how small a heal it gives, even if it IS AoE.
Antitoxin Spray is basically only useful for removing Toxic Pollen from your party, but even so, it’s generally not worthwhile bringing in a decent group, because:
1. The damage dealt by Toxic Pollen is fairly miniscule and can usually be outhealed.
2. People infected by Toxic Pollen sometimes spawn hostile Hallucinations, but these Hallucinations tend to be white mobs that are again easily destroyed by AoE damage. (Hallucinations spawned by enemies such as Toxic Hypnoss are a different matter though.)
My guardian looks like a fusion of a ballerina with a garden sprinkler….
Can the animation be changed? lol
