Krait Alliance? How?!
Keep in mind a lot of lore applies to them before they were, in fact, beaten. Not just beaten, but forced to flee their preferred environments or face extinction only to risk becoming servants of Zhaitan.
At this point, the Krait are on the edge of desperation. Xenophobia and overgrown ego take a back seat when true desperation comes into play.
As for the Court, it’s implied and fairly obvious they are the ones pulling the strings in this alliance.
That being said, how well this all turns out depends entirely on Anet and what they are leading up to.
Go to the camp in Kessex where Majory and Kasmeer are standing.
Talk to NPCs. The explanation is there. Well, at least AN explanation is there.
In a nutshell… Krait religion > Krait xenophobia
Scarlet has fake Bloodstone shards and apparently the Krait want them.
The Nightmare Court are just in it for the hell of it.
We have reasons, just not good or acceptable reasons.

On a side note: Can we please stop having Sylvari be the evil race? Pleeeease?! And same with Mesmers. After all it was illusion magic that covered the tower…. I am getting tired of my race and profession being the singularly most evil thing in the game besides the dragons from what I am told.
I can’t think any major villain mesmers outright. There are a few very significant mesmers on heroic side though. Like Kasmeer and Queen Jennah.
Also Sylvari as evil? I don’t see how they are represented any more evil than others. I can think only Canach, Faolain and Scarlet when it comes to “evil” Sylvari. It could be even argued that Canach is more misguided than evil. There are also good Sylvari in significant roles like Caithe, Trahernia and Sieran.
This is a sect of the Nightmare Court that is allying with them. By-and-large, the krait and Basketball Court still hate each other, as far as I know.

First Cadeyrn wanted to kill all Asura after their first contact with the Asura. ( First contact was Kudu ). He also wanted to kill the Krait children and in both cases where he asked for logic, instead of giving him a logical answer, the firstborn rather quoted the tablet. But the last strwa for him was a discussion with Caithe where she said " You are either firstborn or you are simply sylvari" like he was a second class citizen. THIS was what caused him to leave and establish the Nightmare Court to find their true nature. The Krait thing is not his only reason. But now, Cadeyrn is dead and most NC member don’t care about his motivations.
Second. The Krait allying with another faction is really hard to explain and it could destroy their lore if not handled carefully, but from what i have seen, it could be much worse. If we take a look into the Krait lore ( the full Lore not some things while ignoring the rest ), we see that they are really xenophobic yes, but also highly religious, its even stronger than their xenophobic believes, and they have priests that lead them, the Oratuss. The fact that the Krait don’t have a written language plays right in the hand of the Oratuss, they can change their religious texts to their needs. Lore wise, they have the ability to retcon parts of their religion, and with enough time alter it to such degree that they formed a new religion.
If you can convince the Oratuss to works with you without being killed on sight, well you could have an army of Krait, because no Krait would question the Oratuss.
The problem there ist, how could someone convince the Oratuss to work with outsiders, even with the offer of Obelisk shards? This one has to be answered and this answer could either kill the lore or be completely good with it.

Going by what they pulled in the past, unless it’s convenient for them to so then they won’t. It’s interesting how we come up with theories so we can cover up these massive plot holes. Only for A-net to twist what we thought happen and latter come up with something verily underdeveloped.
According to one developer from the recent Halloween Lore live stream he states that it’s easier to leave things open for interpretation then finishing something. The speculation just keep people interested. My guess he got his inspiration from JJ Abrams mystery box lecture . Basically all those hints about Cantha is just to keep you engaged and does not mean that it will ever appear again. Or the Wizards Tower in Kessex Hills meant to be the ultimate teaser, but probably never to be delivered on. Or filling in the (plot) hole over the Great Collapse.
I thought Krait thought all races were inferior and enslaved any race they came across that they could. Thus, they would not align themselves with any other race or faction of a race.

That part, “They believe other, lesser races have nothing to offer them, so the krait never bother to communicate with them.” The Court, because of Scarlet, now have something the Krait actually want, so it doesn’t actually conflict with that piece since they covered the reason why the xenophobes have decided to cooperate.

If you played the Living Story, and read all the dialogue, you’d get an assumed answer to your questions.

Hey, hey, hey. In Prophecies, it was us poor Ascalonian Necromancers who got it bad. After the Searing, both Verata and Oberan the Reviled turned evil (not to mention the Lich).
Have you guys seen the white otherworldly ‘toxic’ portals?
My theory is that Scarlet is recruiting from outside the ‘canon’ version of Tyria for her alliances. Perhaps even from the mists themselves via a process similar to Dessa’s fractal creation? If that was the case, Scarlet’s minions would have a vested interest staying in our world, rather than being destroyed.
