Mouth Sync Disappointment
I believe that was because they were telling the story to your character in the present, while what you were watching was something that had happened in the past.

I would believe that however they were talking to each other. Seems either a bug, or something they needed to work on. Missing this felt unfinished and beta which wasn’t right.

its true, they are talking to each other as they tell the story on how they revieled the tower.

They’re narrating a flashback to you. Their lips during the flashback wouldn’t be moving because they’re telling you the story after the fact, they weren’t actually narrating when it happened.

Yes, that moment was a flashback to what had just happened. In hindsight, it’s possible some kind of screen filter or effect might have made that clearer. If you look carefully you can see that it does go from night to day, but it might be subtle enough to be missed.
I must admit I was caught off guard for this bit also, I thought it was bad mouth synchronization for a moment until I realised it was a flashback. It was a great cinematic, though perhaps the transition to a flashback could have been clearer. I am looking forward to seeing more cinematics like it, great work whoever it was.
Excited about this release and enjoyed the single player story mode entrance into the zone, however there was some serious mouth sync issues and even in parts I think the NPC mouths weren’t even scripted to move at all? Disappointing. Doubt this will be fixed, but hoping it can be looked into and not overlooked for future releases.
When that specific scene started I thought of mouth sync error as well, but then the context and the outzoom made it clear for me its a flashback. Could ve been much clearer, but I suppose its one downside of the “must produce new content every 2 week” thingy. Anet has to realise at some point that quality work takes time!!

When in doubt, use Sepia!
At first I was confused as well as to why their mouths weren’t moving, but I was able to figure out that it was a flashback.
I think we’re just used to it after the no mouth sync when Scarlet interrupted Queen Jenah’s jubilee.

OP you must have the deduction ability of a toddler if you couldn’t figure out after a few minutes that it was a flashback and the voice was narrating.

This made me laugh. Not sure if subtle ribbing or not, but just… think about it.
+1
Edit: I should note: laugh in a good way, not a sarcastic way.
Quidquid Latine Dictum Sit, Altum Videtur
The first time I saw the cutscene I thought it was a mistake, then at the end I realized it was a voice-over during a flashback scene.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
