New Heal skill can be bought for Skill points
Video how to press H, go to skills panel and learn the skill? GJ!
LOL 5g for a skill? I didn’t even realise this, already bought the skill with SP’s soon as logged in.

If it isnt on youtube it didnt happen!
Is this intended?
One could almost think the 25 skill point price is not supposed to be available yet?
Or is this supposed to be the discounted price before this chapter is over?
“Whose Charr is this?”- “Ted’s.”
“Who’s Ted?”- “Ted’s dead, baby. Ted’s dead.”
This is as-intended.
If there were 20 some odd other universal skills at that point cost released at the same time we might have something.
No way am I going to spend two weeks grinding out Pristine whatevers and 5 gold when skill points will come to me naturally doing whatever I want.
ANET: Take this opportunity to get the healing skill without having to spend 25 skill points! You must do it now, or you’ll lose this chance once living world moves on!
Players: But, ANET, spending 25 skill points is actually the best way to do it…
That moment where you realize that the shortcut, the “opportunity”, is actually worse than the normal way.

It completely back-fired in my case then. I read that there was a new skill and of course the first place I looked was my skills list, saw I had enough skill points (about 5 times enough actually) and got it.
I didn’t even know there was another way until I read this topic.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
25 SP’s is approximately equivalent to 5g… you’d think Anet would have considered that when making the prices.
Who in their right mind would spend 5g plus all those spores when they can just use SP’s.
I have a feeling we weren’t supposed to get it before using the book. Odds are they meant to lock the skill until you get the book, then it would be an account-wide unlock of the skill. After this living story left, they probably planned on unlocking it for the rest of the accounts.
PvE Main – Zar Poisonclaw – Daredevil
WvW Main – Ghost Mistcaller – Herald

I think it’s the “expensive” version that will remain once the other content is removed seeing as it just sits there in the hero panel and the other version is sold from a vendor in the world.
Newer characters won’t have 25 spare skill points, what they might have is an alt that can earn the book for them. Still, it does seem a bit expensive.
You earn sp faster than gold on new character
I wonder if they have some sort of fault in their game metrics.
It must be telling them that the average player makes over 500g in less than a week and has 1000g in their bank, if they are keeping this absurdly unreasonable pricing, like with the Halloween recipes.
Well, this is not as bad as with the halloween recipes, but still shows there’s something wrong in the methods they use to decide prices, if they think 5 g and a stack of 250 of a rare material would be preferred over just 25 skill points.

Closer to 10g, if you use them wisely. So 10g versus 5g + 250 freely farmable widgets. Not looking so obvious now ….
Is it possible what you buy with spores and gold is an account-wide unlock for the skill? Something you can place in your bank and use on all your alts to teach them the skill?

It’s faster to farm those 25 skill points than 250 “freely farmable” widgets. Even if you do only the living story.

Actually it isn’t, I got a 100+ in just over a hour.
Sometimes when you harvest you get 2-3 swipes and 10-15 of them, other times around 4-5 and sometimes just 1. Its like a 33% chance at either.
Some players don’t realise skill points can be turned into gold, 5+ gold to be exact.
So Anet’s pricing is spot on really.
Quickly, people.

How do you turn skill points into gold?
Thanks for the tip although I wish you’d of just came right out and said check skill menu, lol.

How do you turn skill points into gold?
Mystic forge, but no, look you get about a level and half from of champ farm in FGS or CS, if you are in CS you end up with at least 30 scrolls, FGS maybe 20~ after all the box opening with typical luck.
So you not only earn the gold from champ farming but save all the potential gold wasted on the heal skill and can earn more if you sell the toxin thingys instead of using them up.
I was expecting the method of acquiring the new skill during the Living Story is significantly cheaper (or free after performing some sort of quest) than to acquire it normally based on the Dev post.
By the developer’s logic we should be able to convert skill points into gold then.

You can, creating Mystic weapons to sell on the TP is one simple way. Not hugely profitable maybe but a way.

You mean by using them to create weapons to sell? (anomaly for example?) This is the part I am trying to understand: how to convert skill points to gold, not how to get skill points, I have way too many of those already.
You earn sp faster than gold on new character
That would be why I said that this works IF they have another character which has already earned/can earn gold. Besides, new characters have more useful things to spend points on than a 25 point heal skill that likely isn’t much better than the one they already have, except in this specific area. I know that my ranger certainly doesn’t have the skill points or the gold to pay for this, but I know my thief could do it for him.
