So Krait related content but...
Probably more due to mechanics, not very many people are enthused about underwater combat, and for good reason, it’s clunky and the flow of combat isn’t very good
I really like underwatercombat, i find it soothing.
hell no, underwater combat would mean i would not step in there. i don’t even know what abilities most of my characters have underwater

This kind of player is why there should be no big underwater Living Story update until Underwater combat is given a revamp.
New weapons, larger range of utilities, perhaps special underwater-only utilities and the ability to use select land-based weapons underwater also would all be great.
As underwater combat stands I don’t dislike it. It’s a bit uninspiring on some professions. Underwater areas can be rather lovely though, aesthetically.

And enter ArenaNet’s design philosophy:
“If players don’t like it, we ignore it. If players like it, we fix what isn’t broken.”
Just because players don’t like something doesn’t mean it should be avoided. It means the opposite – they should work to improve it, and a content update focused on underwater stuff would be the best time to work on improving such.
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

well, that kind of brings up the question of “how do they fix it?” as it is, underwater combat is VERY slow, moving in too harsh of a direction to where you’d really think you’d still be shooting the target causes you to miss, inability to aim aoe, sink/float seem to ignore stability(at the very least defiant), and needing a seperate hotkey to swim down when space is swim up. My issue is that, other than maybe the aiming thing, none of those are bugs, that’s just how they designed it.
Really? I find underwater combat to be faster paced than land. Perhaps that’s because I play a necro, though, and the long casting times on land are drastically reduced underwater.
To op, krait do actually make some large towers that come out of the water. Go to that large lake in mt. maelstom near where the golem event is and see.

As an Engineer, I have no problems in the water thanks to automatically tossing grenades. :p No muss, no fuss.
I enjoy underwater combat. I really don’t get it why most players hate it so much. It’s just learning a different suite of skills, that’s all.
Water combat on my thief is absolutely horrible, I despise it. On my necro, I feel very powerful underwater.
Basically they need to revamp the class abilities underwater, they currently are very limited and some classes are just terrible.
I will admit, necros kind of by pass a lot of my problems with underwater combat. But still, necros alone won’t get me to say the system isn’t in need of revamping.

Unfortunately this is the most likely explanation. ANet seems to have a horrible habit of abandoning good ideas because they don’t turn out perfect on the first try. Just because UW combat is unfulfilling at the moment does not mean it is incapable of being.
Exhibit A:
1. Mere months into the game ANet says their aim for the next few months is to expand the event system across the entire game world.
2. An uproar of applause from the playerbase, I cannot exaggerate how excited most players were.
3. They implement a half dozen events with no story scattered across the world with no method of finding them
4. Players don’t do them for the above-mentioned reasons
5. Anet abandons expaning the event system
Exhibit B:
1. ANet wants to expand new areas of the game
2. Players once again voice a great deal of excitement
3. ANet implements a new area completely removed from the main storyline with almost no events or worthwhile content.
4. Players siphon out of the area in less than a week for the above mentioned reasons
5. Anet abandons creating new areas
Exhibit C:
Soon to be Tequatl and the boss revamps… who wants to bet ANet has already abandoned the idea revamping the other world bosses?

I love underwater combat it just needs to be fixed up a bit, more balance and the such…

We don’t actually know if there aren’t any underwater parts.
Besides, like someone already mentioned, the Krait has a habit of constructing massive towers.
You guys should read an article. It’s a very interesting one with the lead designer of Anet. Look at the pictures. And read the stuff about the Pagodas. And the petrified tree.

Yea, it is from 2008.
The entire foundation of the tower is underwater, and I’m sure there will be some action down there.
The reason they didnt add new underwater combat is simple “underwater combat sucks balls”.
Besides, paradoxically, Krait are way more powerful on land rather than underwater.
We need better underwater content, but for that first we need more weapons, more underwater versions of skills and some teaks in responsiveness and playability.
Which will probably not happen in about… let’s say 5 years.

Only risen are good underwater. All other enemies are much weaker.
For example, a karka can be problematic to the unprepared, for those who do not interrupt, reflect or dodge away from their initial water-spit barrage.
Yet underwater they are a joke. They barely use their skills and most of the time they just wobble in the water. And they are supposed to be a predominantly marine species.

That’s part of the reason why I like underwater combat. Foes that are tough to deal with on land suddenly become laughably easy once I lure them into the water.

thief underwater combat is terrible because thief on land combat is godly.
if you want thieves to suck less in water then they will have to be thrown off their godly throne on land.
Thieves can still essentially spam that one spear attack that makes the invulnerable.
If you learn how to properly use Spear # 3, underwater combat is cake for a Thief….. I very rarely take any damage and can take down Champs solo without even breaking a sweat (it takes a bit of time, but all Champs do when soloing them).
A blocking skill that responds with tons of melee damage and has no CD (can easily avoid while auto-attacking to regain initiative). Very OP.
Underwater combat could use some work, but I enjoy it in moderation. I really have no sympathy for anyone that says they don’t know what their underwater skills are. (I HATE this saying): Learn 2 Play

Krait actually enjoy building towers reaching high above the water, these debris structures are practically everywhere you meet them.

It would not shock me if there were a secret entrance underwater.
I would have enjoyed an underwater update. Underwater combat is in a bad position right now where people hate it because its limited and unfamiliar, but it’ll never become anything else unless Anet actually works on it and exposes people to it more. But if they work on it then people will complain that they don’t care about it anyway and its a waste to work on it (as they did when they added combo finishers / fields to water combat last year). Not that I’d let the complaints stop it, water combat needs improvement and needs exposure and if people don’t like it too bad, its part of the game. I don’t go around saying PvP should be ignored because I don’t do PvP.
Still, a Tower is pretty fitting for the Krait as well, so while I would like some underwater upgrades and some underwater-based combat, I don’t think it’d be the only fitting thing for a Krait-related update. Tower works just as well.
