Collect harvest 20 spores. Yuck.

I spent my entire play time yesterday running with a zerg doing your boring stuff just to get it done.

Not a fan.

Just going to point this out, but the spores also spawn in groups of four all over the place near the tower and on various maps. They all counted one towards the daily for me, not just the ones that spawn at the end of the events.

It sounds like you chose the slowest way possible to complete that daily; which is understandable, if you didn’t see the other nodes.

Did they change the drop rate or something? On Tuesday it took me all of 2 hours to collect the 50 that Marjory needed…

You don’t need to collect actual spores, just harvesting at a node. Even if no spores come out it counts. Done in 5 minutes. OP chose the slowest most annoying way for this daily.

What is the fastest way of doing this? I still need that daily.

There are spore seedlings scattered around all the maps that have events, in clusters of 4. Look for those.

Should be relatively easy to spot once you get close enough for harvest spots to show up on your map. They’re in groups of 4, which means 4 little plant icons, and most harvestable plants grow solo.

I don’t get it, so to do this daily I need to wander aimlessly across the map(not wvw, not kessex hills) hoping to find an event so i’ll get 4 harvests?

I don’t like that at all, after noticing 1 harvest means 1 daily progress I had to give up on this one.

No not at all. you need to harvest 20 individual nodes to get this done. As a previous poster mentioned they come in clumps of 4-5 at a time usually so this daily can be done very quickly. Took me maybe 5 minutes of wandering around Kessex to get it done. Once again its not 20 actual spores you need to harvest. Its 20 nodes and has no tie to any specific events. 1 event = 1 harvest so thats going to take you a lot longer to do it that way

You can find them even if an event is not active. They just show up near the current event spots usually. This daily is easier than the regular daily gather to be honest.

These spores are all over the place. Just harvest them when you see them. It’s no different than gathering 20 resources. Look for the Toxic Seedlings and harvest them. Only about 1 in 4 will produce a spore, but they all count towards the goal whether or not a spore is produced.

Agree with the OP, its a terrible daily, takes for too long for a daily. You after do 20 offshoot spore events to complete it, so its 4x as long as the other daily, daily event completer where you do 5 events.

Should be 5 or 10 spores.

Also, YES THEY HAVE NERFED SPORE DROP RATE, shock, horror. I was getting 10-15 after completing 1 toxic offshoot event first night from some of the events, now its 3-5.

Go to Beetletun Farms, easy 20 here. Daily done in 2 minutes.

Once again this daily IS NOT TIED TO AN EVENT. if you are doing those offshoots to get this done then its your own fault for wasting your own time. you need to HARVEST 20 INDIVIDUAL PLANT NODES. not obtain 20 pristine spore samples which it does not ask for. you dont need to receive any pristine spore samples period. you can harvest any toxic plant and get the trash spore from it and it counts towards the daily. This daily can be done in literally 5 minutes of walking around Kessex Hills so please if you are reading this do not waste your time doing offshoots or champions to get this done

It also counts toward the daily gather, so you get two dailies for the work of one.

The description is wrong. It should say “harvest 20 seedlings” instead of “collect 20 spore samples”.

There are also usually two patches near an obelisk. You may have to stretch your definition of “near” a bit if the obelisk is in water. :P

Way to not read the thread and then spout completely misinformed nonsense. You are not farming spores. The Daily has nothing to do with spores. The daily is for spore nodes. It is for each time you use a harvesting tool on a spore node. The outcome of that harvest is inconsequential to the Daily. Multiple spore nodes occasionally spawn inside an offshoot event, but there are also clumps of spore nodes all about the kessex hills map. Just walk around the lake and look for clumps of plant nodes on your mini map. Every time you see a clump, rather than just a single node, that is a clump of spores. I know of a clump north of Marjory, then another north east of there. One to the north of the lake near the fort and bandits. One to the east of the lake north of the harbor village. One to the south where the Ettins and Hylek are. It’s really very easy to complete this. That is a minimum of 20 right there.

Instead of complaining about something you don’t understand, why not actually make an attempt to educate yourself and figure out how to do it easier?

There were also two patches of these just to the NW and the SW of the new NPC’s in Kessex. I’m not sure if they were tied to an event or they are permanently there but i had half the daily done in about 30 seconds from those 2 patches alone

I don’t get it. How is 10 minutes to complete a daily to long? The problem here is not the daily, it’s you. You decided to do it the hard way and limit your spore gathering to events. You could have walked up to Fort Salma, found the patch there and harvested the toxic seedlings, but you didn’t.

Nah. It’s just that people have the weirdest things they feel need to complain about. I can understand people complaining about insane amount of halloween mats because that is pretty much impossible to get but complaining about something that takes 10 minutes at most is silly.

I think it has much to do with the general negative tone of the forums. People are unhappy about living world updates so they find something to complain about. I’m quite unhappy myself but not this unhappy.

Well not quite that either or at least not necessarily that. Some people run around and ignore all gathering nodes. The toxic seedlings look just like any other plant node so unless they actually hovered over the mini map it can be easy to miss.

The locations of the clusters also move with server reset so they are not at fixed locations. Not sure about the ones outside of kessex and “near” obelisks.

The spore nodes work like regular plant nodes and have a quick respawn. If this daily pops up again, here is what I will do

1. Find a cluster of 4 pants
2. Alt 1
3. Alt 2
4. Alt 3
5. Nodes could be back already for main

It’s not even that hard to get 20 at any rate – toxic event champions and vets anywhere in the world drop a node that, with luck and +gathering effects, can be harvested more than once.

I started doing the events within minutes of the patch going live, and the most I ever got was 7 from one of the offshoots.

You must be incredibly blind or amazingly impatient. They are all over. Did you actively try to avoid looking at your minimap or have it zoomed so far out that no resource nodes show at all?

What I found yesterday, the first time I got involved in LS this week, was that these clumps of 3-4 resource nodes regularly appear near the spore events. I don’t recall if they appear on the minimap as a node. In about 30 minutes I’d gotten 46/50 or so I need as I did events. I only didn’t get more because I didn’t realize sooner that they were a node and not some random event-related area weapon or something (I was doing the bomb event and accidentally hit “F” too many times near them and was pleasantly surprised). Take another look around, I’m sure you’ll find them Good luck

Daily wasn’t bad at all if you did the shoots, events, and if a seed germinates it leaves spores nearby so the low level maps have like 5 random spores to farm up that net you often just one pristine but get the daily done quick.

I mean it really wasn’t that bad at all.

It was a horrible daily. I still needed tower offshoot events, so I thought I would do them at the same time.

After about the sixth offshoot event, I had 30% daily gatherer and 15% daily gardener. WTF. I then went around looking for spore nodes, the locations of which I hadn’t memorized. That took a while.

Would rather it would just give me credit for the ones that I was actively farming.

hehe that could be it, usually have my mini map zoomed all the way out. i’ll try again tonight when i’m back. (but still weird that I couldn’t find them)

Zoom it in a few clicks; they’ll look just like leafy green plant nodes, but in clusters instead of singles.

Once you know where to find them; that daily becomes ridiculous easy to do.

I ran into two or three of said patches wandering from Timberline Falls and Mount Maelstrom. I had no idea what they were because I was too busy mining platinum, but now I know. This isn’t an awful grind, it’s pretty easy if you ask me, just go look for the clusters.

Congratulations on not reading and learning how to do it in minutes.

Seriously? Get your head out of the sand and open your eyes. This is one of the easiest dailies to finish. No event required, and if you really think you need to do those events then you deserve the time you’re wasting!

got my daily in 10 minutes now, not too bad if you know what to look for.
But i shouldn’t have to find a forum to be able to do my daily, i didn’t even know those patches existed before this.

The problem here is that the Daily description is misleading. It sounds like it wants you to collect 20 Pristine Spore Samples, but what it ACTUALLY wants you to do is harvest from 20 Toxic Seedlings. The real task is quite easy to do, but collecting 20 Spores would take considerably more work.

or easier than harvesting 20 seedlings depending on your luck since you can harvest 5 spores from one “hit”.

This dailys description is misleading…if I misunderstood it, then so did 1,000’s of other players…

I usually only get one harvest per offshoot. However, tonight I was getting as many as three. The AP wasn’t counting how many spores you received, only how many times you harvested. If you harvested a shoot and got 5 spoors, it counted as one. If you havested a toxic seedling and got mush, it counted as one. If you harvested a seedling and got a spore, it counted as one.

I didn’t find it hard or awful. I mainly collected mine by running with a zerg. The fact it counted toward daily harvest too, was nice. I also have made around 12-13 gold in the process by selling all the drops and selling the extra spores. So, no complaints from me.

Yep. This was my bad. I didn’t realize there was any way other than killing champs / flowers to get it done.

What can I say, I’m a norn, I don’t wander Kryta.
