Krait would never ally themselves with other race for any reason whatsoever.

They are Tyria’s equivalent of the Daleks, no matter what form they take, their one constant is that for them any other race is to be destroyed or enslaved.

So the only way Scarlet could be involved without breaking the ore would be if the krait where not willingly in her plans. Like they being foolled by a scarlet impersonating a krait witch with illusions, or forcing them with mind control or anything that doesn’t involve them following the instructions of anyone who isn’t krait or a krait god.

If there’s any alliance, whoever wrote this would be completely ignoring the lore. And ArenaNet would be sending the message: “?Lodi dodi, we don’t care about the lore?”.

Flame legion are nothing like krait. Their agenda is taking over the historical charr lands and keeping the other charr controlled by the shaman caste.

Back in the day they didn’t even bother their neighboring norn, and were focused mostly on fighting humans.

They became more extremists after being kicked out by the other legions. But they are still nothing like krait. They will ally themselves with dredge, titans, demons, destroyer or whatever to achieve their goals. Excepting, of course their human archenemies.

And dredge would not mind allying themseles with other races either. They just will see most humanoid races and their allies as ‘friends of the dwarves’. But any group that can prove has no ties or allegiances with dwarves can be put into consideration for an alliance. And the flame legion who refused to join any order and is an enemy of the other races too fits the description. For that group of dredge, the flame legion were “enemies of our enemies”.

Krait would not ally themselves like that. They’d rather die. Well, they think they won’t really die even if they get killed. That’s their mindset. “Krait can’t be defeated”; “Krait are unstoppable”; “Any other race will bow to us and die”; etc.
For a krait there’s no difference between seaweed and a sylvari. It would simply make no sense whatsoever for them to even consider the notion of “alliance”.

Guys…this thread was intended for lighthearted word-crafting around silly alliance names.

Yet they were both already mushed together without any explanation. I actually liked the flame and frost updates a lot, but the giant unexplained hole in the story left a sour taste in my mouth.

At least up until ArenaNet took up the philosophy that the LS and PS are simultaneous, the Flame Legion and Moletariate had the explanation that they’ve both suffered major defeats that could push them into considering alliances that they might not otherwise – when you’re staring defeat in the face and your enemies have de facto control over what was your capital (the Flame Citadel and Sorrow’s Embrace respectively) then hanging together with anyone who isn’t actively your enemy is better than being hung separately, as the pun used during the War of Independence goes.

Plus, both the moleteriat and the Flame Legion have shown that they’re willing to make alliances in order to build or consolidate their own power. The moletariat, for example, allies with the Inquest in Sorrow’s Embrace. The Flame Legion’s most infamous act was allying with the Titans, are quite happy to use other races such as the grawl as catspaws, and events since have shown that they’re even willing to ally, however temporarily, with humans if it gets them closer to achieving their objectives.

The Molten Alliance is something that would have made sense without Scarlet. Both sides have had serious defeats in the past that shows that they know that they’re not invulnerable (dredge being enslaved by the Stone Summit, Flame Legion being defeated by the other legions), they have common enemies, and histories of working with other races. Yes, it’s likely that both factions would have entered the alliance expecting that they’d exploit the other and then turn on them when it was convenient, but nothing about either disbars them from forming temporary or even more permanent alliances.

Krait, however, are different. In their mind, they’ve only ever been defeated by the dragon minions, and those either don’t count or are a temporary setback to their inevitable divinely mandated victory. Nobody else has truly defeated them, they have no history with working with any other race, and unlike the dredge or Flame Legion, nothing has happened in the LS or PS that seems likely to push them to do so..
