So I overheard the npcs at the camp to the west of Viathan Lake speaking about a woman named Mistress Kari who has gone missing. I wiki’d her name, but nothing came up for MISTRESS Kari. Something did come up for “Kari”. There’s apparently an event in the Dominion Killing Zone called “Help Kari get back to her mother in Overlake Haven.” which is also located in Kessex Hills. Who is she, and what happened to her?

Mistress Kari sounds like she’s an asura, the reason I say this is because 1) she owns a golem 2) she went missing taking samples and studying the lake and any changes to it.

Oh! I actually know this one off-hand, because I’ve run into Kari before. I’m not sure why they’re calling her “mistress,” but she’s a child who gets lost in the destroyer burrows. You help her get home as a dynamic event.

Edit: Wow, not sure how I got so distracted between reading the OP and writing this post, that when I came back to it I just repeated what Sorann already knows. I’d say it’s the same kid. Seems like too big a similarity to be a coincidence.

So who’s “mom”, then? If the mother and child are a mesmer illusion, they’re a more elaborate one than any my own mesmer can pull off…

There is a crate at the bottom of Viathan Lake (south side) that bears an imprint: a key exceedingly similar to the key on my emerald shield from the Durmand Priory.

I speculate that Mistress Kai is connected to the Priory. With the female sylvari at base camp decked out in Order of Whispers armor, I guess we’re just waiting on the Vigil. Orders…unite!

Good catch! Of course, when my mesmer (also with the Priory) heard that, she had to go investigate for herself.

Having finally gotten myself down to the lake before the release starts, I’m going to have to concur with Durzlla. Having talking to NPCs and hearing their ambiet chatter, I think it’s safe to say she’s an asuran mesmer. We’ll probably know more about her once the release drops, once she returns with her findings.
