I can’t handle the hype. I hope that it is going to be like with the Teq fight, that even though I’ve completed it many times now, I still get excited and nervous when Teq shows up.
I have high hopes for this update.

Making permanent content in the form of a new path for a dungeon is great. It is a good way to let players experience the story on their own time.

Shesh, I must be in the minority about hating most of the previous patch stuff.
Ascended weapons: a needless expensive grind, just to combat the inflation they let go in the game from the prior months grind fest. There was no reason to include ascended weapons or the armor they plan to soon.
Account Magic find: another needless grind that just sucks money out of the economy. If they just made it so you couldn’t use MF gear in dungeons most people would have stopped complaining. But instead it’ll take 2-3 months to get my MF back to where it was in open PvE and karma gain was nerfed because of it.
Nerf Karma acquisition: not that big of a deal, but it effects newer players worse than older ones. But I would have preferred they introduce new things to get with karma instead of nerfing the amount we can get (and introducing the new ascended mats that require obi shards).
World Bosses Buffed: Champ farming was already more profitable than world bosses, now even more so. Did some of the world bosses go down really quickly, yes. I don’t care that much about more hp or more damage (I actually like the more damage part), but the timer along with the hp increase makes them very hard to kill at off peak hours, which is pretty stupid. I’d rather they balance the event around ~10-20 people to kill in 5-10 min, and then have it upscale with more players, with no timer. I hope/can’t wait till they make champ drops 1/day.
Teq: I still think this was a pointless change. Based on what is available in game there is no reason Teq gets stronger after Zhaitans defeat (unless he “ate” the dead dragons magical energy or something, which was never stated and just my wild cherry picking). From a game point standard, the fact that you need to organize ~120 people in team speak and spend 30-40 min to coordinate, with specific food buffs, nourishments, other consumables (the fire elemental dust and/or the mortars), skill/build/stat selections (5 stats are completely useless to Teq [condi dam, condi duration, precision, crit damage, boon duration] and only so many people with those builds can defend the turrets [and still be “useless” vs. the fingers]) is just bad game design in my opinion. Also all the trolling that can be done with people going akitten a turret or not. The lowest I’ve seen him go in an uncoordinated (no voice chat with 30-50 min of prep) event was 80%. Plus if you do manage to kill him, the loot is completely not worth the time and effort. (I’d argue even a guaranteed random ascended weapon for everyone would barely make it worth the time it takes.)
As for the new update, yay scarlet? I’ll wait till I see/play it to pass judgement.
I cant help it but last 2 patches disappointed me badly becouse of their bad design. Permanent content it was but not well made.
I don’t expect this new to amaze me or something. Maybe it will be good, but when i see it’s preview, i am not sure…

If you say, “I am a solo player” – group content isn’t for you. Scarlet’s last mission let you choose to go in solo or with a group, so there’s no excuse for not being able to do it. As for having a poor group, all you can do it find another one.

I really doubt that this new instance won’t be a 5-men dungeon, since it was announced as a new path inside an already existing 5-men dungeon (TA).
But my point is that people will complain about it. There is no way to please everybody, and the only way for a player to like every single update is to be open to try new things. Because, IMO, the updates were all good (the Canach Lair was really disappointing, but overall I liked SoS).
The first time in this game that I tried to party up with people that are not my two closest friends was for the Molten Alliance Facility, and it was so awesome that I started trying other stuff in the game too, stuff that I’ve never tried before (PvP, other dungeons, roleplaying in English…) and I found out that I liked everything. For some people, all they have to do is to try the content before saying it is bad.
I second this. Moar to more serious permanent content. Although I don’t like steampunk that much, I’d rather have this than ballons and parties. Enough with festivals. Mad King and Wintersday are only a few patches ahead. This is good stuff.

I was only speaking in general terms. If you need a party for the new content, solo players should be praising the new LFG tool, since it makes joining people as easy as clicking a button. Joining a good group however…
Well I will definitely give this a try, but i am really disappointing that there seems to be no actual mention of them creating new areas to explore, it seems they like to recycle what we already have, this is cool and all but as someone who has explored 100% this would be just another filler which will play through once and disappear again until next patch, I am one of those, I really want to see some other places, and i’m not reffering to Cantha or Elona as this is a new game these areas may still come but i am not holding my breath.
I would really like to see some of the named areas on the world map actually opening up as i love this game but is getting very stagnant to me right now, and each week i look with anticipation trying to guess what the new LS will be only to be shot down with just an update to what is already there, please ANET give us some more explorable land and this game will be the best again..

We asked for more permanent stuff and I think they’re getting the message. A small, carefully designed update that I can play again and again in the future is better than something that is flashy but over in two weeks. Plus, many of the post-release dungeons have been very good. I welcome something that isn’t either zerging or running around a field picking up randomly scattered objects while alt-tabbing dulfy.net because there are absolutely no clues as to how to find the things otherwise.
I agree with people that things are a little light on the skins/backpieces side. I don’t think a lot of people will want those weapons. But I expect this is attributable to gearing up for Halloween. Mad King was awesome fun last year and it will take a lot of work to top it.

I surmise that this choice was a balance. It updates TA in such a way as to leave the existing paths in place. One complaint some folks had about the new Teq is it remove the old Teq from the game. Now we get new TA stuff while we keep the old.

I always support more permanent content being added to the game. I just hope that it doesn’t make existing content suddenly unable to be completed like the “That Had to Burn” achievement.

It’s an MMO, it’s supposed to have content for multiple players. With the new lfg tool there is very little reason why people can’t get a group for explorable dungeons.
