I thought the drop rate on these would be a little bit more frequent. Are there a certain level of mob I should be hunting for these drops?

There isn’t much reason to have more than 25 pieces/5 keys. Their prices are probably going to be dirt cheap once most people are finished with the achievement so the “best” way would be just get a bit of gold and buy them later.

Last night it actually dropped to ~3s per piece. The first chest in the aetherpath(after slick and sparki) seems to have 2 guaranteed pieces as well.

I’ve gotten atleast 10 of them in 1 day … on a level 45 alt.
…Fields of Ruin, Diedessa… etc… (while out choppin Gummos)

…which makes NO SENSE considering Anet speifically called this an Uplevel Dungeon.
Oddly enough, my 80’s are hardly getting any Keys doing Event mobs in Orr…

I was curious about this as well. My 80 never seems to get any drops in Orr and yet I figured that would be the place to get them the most. I might just be unlucky and I suppose I’ll just buy them later if I don’t have enough.

I only have lv80s and just the dungeon path alone had enough for a full key between the chest and the drops(already had drops from outside for another key).

What you kill isn’t going to be as important as how many and how fast.

Given the prices high level champion farming would be efficient since the gold in the boxes is pretty much equivalent to a guaranteed key drop.

I’ve noticed that I average roughly a single key piece per 2.5 hours where my guild mates seem to average 5 pieces roughly every 2 hours. Normally I’d just chalk this up to RNG being RNG but it would be great to hear someone from Arenanet confirm my bad luck.

That said it’s not a huge deal since, as almost everybody has noticed, they’re up on the BLTP.

farm gold and spend the 1-2g you make on the keys in the TP and save yourself alot of time.

Heh WvW is apparently great for it. A friend was doing that and ended up with 127 last night.

I get lots of drops in Orr, when there aren’t a million other people swarming the event and making it impossible to tag anything. Then I get nothing.

The Wiki page about them says they drop in Maguuma jungle, but i am pretty sure i have got them randomly in every game zones, although as a very rare drop.

Yeah there was some blurb from Anet about this….. something only dropping in SteamSpur mts. & Maguuma. Obviously that info is wrong if I got 10 of them in a level 20 Charr area on a level 40 alt.

No blurb on that point, patch note states that keys will be available everywhere during the release and then will only be available in the two areas you mention.

I did a Scarlet invasion in Gendarren last night and ended up with 3 pieces out of that. With previous drops and buying one or two, I have all of 2 keys now after several days of play. shrugs I’ll make sure to get 3 more before I go into the dungeon.

I tried planting them in the best of dirt, watered them, plenty of sunshine, and I even sing the cutest lullabies to them, but they’re not sprouting yet.

Best place to farm them is to do CoF p1 once then buy them on the TP.

According to patch nodes it is only boss chests.

New, rare variants of the Nightmare weapon set have been added to the Twilight Arbor Aetherpath boss chests.

So that is the one after Slick & Sparki and the one after Clockheart. Haven’t gotten anything special from those chests yet. Opened either 15 or 20 so far.
