Can we have dark "Red" Plant weapons?
https://twitter.com/TalathionEQ2
I hate Blue, almost every awesome plant weapon in the game is blue.
Well, blue and Green.

I don’t get the blue color… That’s the warden coloring (blue and green)… Would have thought something darker.
But red… That’ll be saved for the Scarlet Briar weapon set. ;P
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

Well at least “GOOD” sylvari will be happy with there new brightly colored light bright hurts my eyes weapon sets, I guess I will have to wait for actual evil weapons.

I don’t see why we don’t have “Darker” weapons. This light-bright stuff is /NOT/ what a courtier would use.
I want some dark toned plant weapons, and these weapons are just a joke. IMO.

A better question should be:
“Dye-able weapons. Anet. Please? Pretty please?”
I don´t see why we cannot dye weapons.. just dumb excuses…
Being able to change weapon color would be a great feature. Seems to me the only reason they don’t do it is because certain dungeon sets wouldn’t really have a point anymore.

Those sets have different particle effects.
The Mystic Weapons would still have Blue Lightning and the others would still have Red Lightning.

Then they could just give us the ability to alter the color of the particle effects as well.

That is a bit more complicated.

The weapons the Courtiers use are the normal Nightmare weapons.
These are meant to be Aetherblade-enhanced versions of the Nightmare weapons, from what I gather. Hence the “aetherized glow” part of the description of the weapon. So having them fit with the Courtier isn’t really nessicary, because they’re probably used by Scarlet / the Aetherblades, not the Nightmare Court.
This is the only plant based set that glows, so I don’t really see the problem. Its not like the majority if the plant weapons glow. The Nightmare set itself is “darker” and the Warden / Verdant weapons are just sort of neutral.
I really don’t get the “blue = good” thing, personally. Its a color, it has no “good” or “evil” connotation, at least not to me. I guess maybe its just because Guardian’s are blue or something.
That said, a different color would have been nice just because of the Verdant and Warden weapons already being blue. I’d actually prefer something grey or silver personally, to kind of correlate to the Aetherized weapons and their steam, but red would have worked as well. Anything besides purple (just because the Nightmare weaps are already purple, even though they don’t glow) or blue would have been nice, though.

All the Warden/Sylvari weapons are green and blue, adding more green and blue weapons kind of makes them even more spurratic.
I wanted something unique and different.

i personally wouldn’t mind dark red plant based weapons
though, have always been a fan of the nightmare weps already.
re: dyeable weapons.. maybe in the future, but for now? more “unique” skins, even if just recolors = more business, more incentive to play for some.

Always hate it when they reskin things add cool new effects but don’t add new colors. The people before are happy but the people who want different things are not.

I do this for a living, and no, it’s not any more complicated to change the color of a particle effect than it is the skin on a model. Both read texture data from a source image file.
In many cases it’s actually easier to change the color of particle effects, as diffuse textures are usually (not in this case but usually) comprised of multiple tones, where as it isn’t uncommon for particle effects to be read from greyscale source imagery, and the RGBA values are interpolated in software via a series of blend keyframes.
Additionally, the whine of this particular topic is staggering.
We’re actually GETTING skins. Skins that aren’t part of a gem store gambling grind. You know, something we’ve been asking for in LS releases over and over and over. Your response is “Yeah, but they’re blue and not red. Also it’s not weapon dyes. Anet is so greedy.”
They’re blue TA skins… because it’s an extra path of TA which involves the Aetherblades and their crazy blue lightning.
We’re starting to see some recolors because it’s faster to get recolors in than brand new models, sure, but have you ever though that the reason behind it was so that we simply have a wider selection? Doing “quick” skins means the ability to push more skins overall, and yeah, sometimes it’s nice to just have a couple different colors of the same thing.
Yes. They removed weapon dyes since the first game. They stated a long time ago why. It’s the reason we don’t see much dyable new armor. (Aside from the need to tweak it for certain racial body types, and do versions for two genders) It takes a quite a bit more work to build a multichannel toned grayscale shader than a simple diffuse/specular/normal shader which artist designed color values. It would seriously lower the speed at which weapons can be added to the game.

Colors “Shiny Blue/Green.”
New Weapon Colors.
Shiny Blue/Green?

I think the red weapons would be cool, I’d like them.
With that out of the way, I actually like what they’ve done so far instead of dying weapons. Different colors carrying different levels of prestige are a thing I actually think is pretty cool.
I’ve got a sylvari necro with a purple armor set. I’d like that staff and would be more motivated for it I could weapon-dye the glow and make it dark purple
Blue things will never fit on me
Same problem here, I roleplay an EVIL SYLVARI and none of the plant weapons appeal to me.
The TA Weapons are way to purple and bright for me. Why would I use something that makes me stand out so much when i’m suppost to be a courtier?!

These weapons look too much like Ascalon Ghost weapons…
Blue is kinda way past over done with weapons
Something like this.
Something like this.
YES YES YES YES
DARK THEME, BROWNS AND DARK GREENS.
Not https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=soFXG2FaONw …
I want DEPRESSING and Dark colors, with little to no glow. Not glow in the dark weapons.

Or stuff more bramble and thorns oriented? We already have a lot of purty flower plant gear.

Have you seend the warden weapons? The warden warhorn looks almost identical to some of those pictures. It’s true there is a blue crystal attached to a lot of them, but the general aesthetic is along the lines of those other plants. The original Nightmare Weapons are thorny and purple. The new weapons make sense as they are not Couriter weapons, they are Courtier weapons that have be imbued with aetherised energy (or something along those lines).
Edit: Did the filter go kitten crazy or something?

Why can’t we have amazing red/dark themed weapons?
