How to make this dungeon twice as good!
Yes please!
While I do find it rather frustrating at times, I don’t mind the challenge – but I had to leave right when we were figuring out the last boss because I didn’t anticipate I’d have to spend >3hours in the dungeon an have another appointment in a couple of minutes.
That’s just sad
Two to four hours? In a week every party will be able to do it in 40 minutes.
And if you split it up, they’ll be able to do it in 20 minutes. There’s a reason that the most popular dungeons are sub-10/20 minutes. That’s not just for hardcore farmers, I think most casual players prefer shorter dungeons that can be done in a time crunch.
Hell, if you wanted to be super lazy, just have a chest pop up at the halfway point indicating that that part of the dungeon is done and you can continue on to the end if you want, and just have the option to start at the halfway point when you first enter the dungeon. Obviously the gold reward will be cut in half (though I think it should be 1.5 g because of the difficulty level, ala Ascalonian Catacombs.)
It’s a win-win: It’s exactly the same except you get a chest in the middle, and you can start at the halfway point. If you don’t have time, or you don’t particularly like a section, or it’s just easier to farm one part, everyone is happy. Even if you hate short dungeons, you can still run the whole thing at once.
Well my first time was about 1h because we wiped a few times. But after a few times, the wiping will be reduced to 0, the time it’ll take will be reduced too. I’m sure it will be easy to do it in 40 mins soon, maybe even less.
Make two paths and split the content. Each path being half as long as the current dungeon. So we don’t have to spend 2-4 hours doing one path.
It kinda sounds like you’re asking for less content. I would personally disagree with this if that were the case. Short dungeons are not fun.

It’s not less content, it’s more conveniently sized for people who have less time. Have a choice to continue to the next part and it’s the same thing.

OMG seriously? Well if that’s the case why don’t they just send us a chest in the mail once a day with gold, loot and dungeon tokens. That way, all we have to do is log in and check our mail! YAY!
[/sarcasm]
We could always use more rotten carrots that are painted orange.
XD

It’s about choice. There are other content in the game that people will limited time can do. World Bosses like the Shadow Behemoth is still easy, and can be killed in 5~ minutes. CoF path 1 is still one of the quickest dungeons, so that’s also an option.
40 minutes?? Pfft… people claim to be able to do Arah path 4 in about 40-45 minutes. But that doesn’t mean the majority of people can do it that fast.
Even so, 40 minutes is a long stretch compared to just about every other dungeon path out there.
At least NOW I know how long the path is and I know to avoid it when I don’t have an hour or two to spare. Which is just about every time I log in.
Everything they put out lately seems to be made to take up way too much of our time. Even increasing the HPs on the world bosses made those encounters needlessly longer, not harder, than they need to be.
I’ve found there is less and less to do in this game that doesn’t require a huge time investment. No room for casual play.
Or make the path be worth 3 gold…

If this new dungeon path ‘revamp’ and the Tequatl ‘revamp’ are any indication of what the future might hold when they finally get around to revamping the rest of the dungeon paths and the rest of the world bosses, then there is plenty of room for concern from ‘casual players’ who don’t have the time to invest.
That said, they should have left F/U in the game and added this new, longer path.
Most all of the new content lately has been content that is designed to eat more of your time or content designed for big zergs. Lots of people were left behind with ascended crafting because they didn’t jump on the invasion and champ farms and make 100s of gold.

I don’t see what the problem would be with have MORE choice. There’s no downside to splitting it in two, and it would benefit a lot of people.

Cmon guys tribulation mode doesn’t take THAT long to complete..
Oh wait, this is the wrong forum.
It’s new content. It will take 2-3 months for the average pug population to be comfortable with the dungeon. For comparison, I’d say someone that takes 45 min to do arah p3 could probably finish this within an hour once strats are common knowledge.

They’d take the same amount of time to do the dungeon in 2 parts as well. I still don’t see the downside.
The only thing I would really change is so many elite enemies.
They are no hard. They are only time-consuming.
Fighting them is as fun as freaking punching trees in Minecraft.

Try playing Honor of the Waves first. Then, you will feel like you are one-shotting the enemies in the new path.
As for the OP, I think it is a reasonable suggestion. Who is going to play the new path when it is not new anymore and you can get the same rewards faster with other paths?
Two to four hours? In a week every party will be able to do it in 40 minutes.
There are still pugs around that take an hour for U/U path… just saying. Don’t equate everyone with top 10 percenters.
Though i agree – because everyone not capable of doing this in less than an hour will simply not run this path at all.
Remember, remember, 15th of November

Well, without getting into a discussion about how more content is not necessarily better content, he’s not asking for less content.
He’s asking for the same content in two paths. I don’t understand how you can read his post and see that as asking for less content.
ITT: players complaining about the fact that they don’t have an HOUR to spare to play the game and expecting some sort of compensation.
Really? an hour? There are very few games that i can think of where you would be able to accomplish much of anything in less than that amount of time. Even single player platformers would take an average of an hour to solve a level from start to finish. I dunno, maybe a game of bejewled or one of those facebook games… (insert elitist response of: "it’s takes you an hour to finish a platformer level!? NOOB)
Anyway, this isn’t a platformer. It’s an MMORPG. The entire idea behind this game is that it be able to occupy your FREE time and keep players logging in. And honestly, this game is more casual friendly than most single player rpgs that I’ve played.
I am in fact casual. I have been playing since launch, I have only 2 level 80 toons and ZERO ascended weapons. I play at most 2-3 days a week with an average play time of about 2 hrs. BUT, if I log in and know that i don’t have an hour’s worth of FREE time to spare, then i don’t jump into an activity that takes an hour and then QQ about not being able to finish it.
I have to apologize, I am ranting. I don’t mean to attack or offend anyone. I just see threads like this and I think to myself, “seriously? wtf”
Or make the path be worth 3 gold…
I’m inclined to agree, but pump up the token rewards as well.
As I understand, ANet wants long paths that people can sit down for an hour or two and chew through. This dungeon’s a fantastic candidate for that.
Like every other path except for one (ArahP4) already?
Jesus people, some variance please. Just stay on your toes for the next faceroll Living Story content and leave this dungeon path as it is.
After two weeks most people will stop running it because of reduced rewards. Not to mention these new awesome cutscences.
No support, the dungeon is quick and easy if everyone understands the mechanics. I wish there would be longer dungeons.
No. Just get rid of it.
ITT: players complaining about the fact that they don’t have an HOUR to spare to play the game and expecting some sort of compensation.
Oh believe me, I’m not complaining about an hour. I’m not even complaining about two hours. But we still weren’t finished after 3 hours yesterday (which is when I had to leave). I like to take things slow, I enjoy learning (dungeon) mechanics, and I don’t even mind wiping a couple of times on each boss. But I usually just don’t have 3-4 hours to spare on a single dungeon (path), where I can’t take a break (to make dinner, for example, or walk the dog) without inconveniencing my party.
And it’s not even about the compensation – I just enjoy playing the content, from time to time. So it really isn’t about how much gold we get for completing this path, but for how long it takes to complete it. Yes, it will probably get shorter with time – but we still have to invest the time to learn it first. And it’s still kitten long even if it takes 45 Minutes…(anyone remember what a blessing the Cantha story missions were, time wise, compared to the Prophecies ones?)
Once the hype has died down and the achievers have achieved and the extra rewards removed, this dungeon will wind up the same as the Arahs, SE 2 and the old TAkitten The only groups that will run it will be guild groups or PUGs that want to get their Dungeon Master title or the “Be level 80 and experienced no noobs, heavies only” people. You’ll get maybe one group every hour or two.
With the change, if you’re in a guild group, ta dah! NOTHING is different, you run through the thing from start to finish (nothing except you get more tokens because you get a second chest.) THAT’S IT! You have nothing to complain about, unless for some reason, you’re jealous that other people can run the path piecemeal.
With the change and you’re in a PUG, ta dah! There will be actual groups going through the dungeon on a daily basis, because, piecemeal, it’s fast enough for the rewards that people are seeking when they do a dungeon on a daily basis. No difficulty has changed, it’s just as hard as it was before (unless you equate simply enduring the whole dungeon as skillful.)
If you get that one guy that doesn’t know what to do or is uncooperative and unable to learn, you only have to slog through an hour, instead of three. Without the change, the dungeon is so long, you can be sure that people will be kicking anyone who shows more than a little weakness, simply because it becomes such a chore when you have one weak player, your forty minute run has just become an hour and a half.
I really don’t get the resistance. Why is it so bad that casual players with little time can get access to additional content? Does it offend your senses when a dungeon appears too short? Is it so jarring when you get a reward chest in the middle of the dungeon that you have to quit it? You get to the halfway point and you just keep going, what’s the problem?
