Hey Anet if you want to make Scarlet and Traherne Epic and cool in the eyes of the players you should make a dungeon where one of them kills the other.

I like this idea. Except if its Traherne, chances are we’d actually defeat Scarlet and he’d take the glory…. again. At least no more Scarlet.

She doesn’t even SOUND smart. She sounds like a child. None of her work seems to be done by her but henchmen, she’s not actually fought us any save for the invasions (in which she’s a 12 foot tall monster), she doesn’t speak like somebody with an IQ high enough to shame Asura would. She just… isn’t a good villain.

Whatever reason or rhyme you guys can come up with for her actions is completely diminished by the fact that she acts like she’s 12 and we’ve no reason to really fear her.

What SHOULD have happened is that back in FnF we met her in a college as a top student, or something along those lines. There was no set up for her.

I actually like Scarlet, if we can’t even get Dragons, we should be allowed to keep Scarlet forever!

Get the mini when it comes out then.

If anything I’d think Scarlet and the Mad King would get a long pretty well.

I like scarlet as a character, I just don’t like where she sits in the heirarchy of evil. She’s a character I want to have, say, Spur’s job. I like her VO and madcap antics… but I just have problems believing her as a criminal mastermind.

Well, if some invasive weed I only met once and didn’t care for then came back, mailed me a challenge, and then claimed to know my secrets, I’d hate them too. Especially when said weed loves to hear herself screech and needs half a dozen holograms for just one room or corridor in her facility.

“My vanity is the only vanity allowed here!”

And like you said, her personality is much more fitting of a minion or decently ranked henchman, but not the boss of the whole thing.

Palawa Joko seems like he would be a good Personal Nemesis, at least for people who played Nightfall, because his conquest of Elona is partly due to the fact that we let him out (to save the world admittedly) and never seal him away again, making it more personal because it was a result of our actions.

Or, at least it feels that way to me. I never played any of the first Guild Wars.

Mad King holds a torch burning event, the thing you burn is Scarlet tied to a pole, no need for hay or wood even! Just light the torch and watch her scream. The more she screams the more the Mad King laughs!

I’d gladly pay 600 gems for a torch to make this happen.

She’s basically the Joker, without the whit or the iconic look, and no Mark Hamill lending an incredibly memorable voice.

Dear ArenaNet, please do not “kill Scarlet off and be done with it.”

I know that may sound weird coming from me. However, rather than “killing and be done with” her, I’d much rather she’s made into a non-Mary Sue, non-heavily annoying character and then killed off.

Why do I say this? For as terrible as Scarlet is presented, she is perhaps the only villain other than Caudecus and Faolain (and the still-living Elder Dragons) with any form of continual showing. Gaheron may, since we already see him as a soul trying to return (nothing says there’s only one Eternal Flame or they may have no means of remaking it). And not just that but she has some semblance of a chance of becoming a decent villain that isn’t “I feel like killing everything for the sake of xenophobia/sexism/just-the-hell-of-it/taking over the world mwuahahaha!” Scarlet, though on the surface is the third, if you dig deep you find she’s different than all four.

Scarlet’s problem is, as I said, her presentation. As is a situation of the entire living story after Flame and Frost. ArenaNet decided – for some obscure-to-us reason – that the players prefer digging through the main sites, the delves of fan-sites, to get the most important aspects of the lore, rather than putting them – in any form possible – in the game.

The problem with all the other main villains – sans Kudu and Caudecus – is that they appear only once and are killed. The earliest level personal story villains hold more impact than Gaheron, Shukov, Sovereign Eye of Zhaitan, and even Zhaitan himself (though the last is rather expected, though I was honestly hoping that there’d be a figure like the Mouth of Zhaitan or Sovereign Eye of Zhaitan that would appear throughout, coming and going, viewing us as “not worth the effort” until we proved ourselves).

Honestly though, I do pray they kill Scarlet off – maybe in January or February. Then the next “between the Elder Dragon” foes we have to be some returning figure – be it from dungeons or personal story (I would love for Shodd to come back, trying to take over the Lornar’s Pass steam creatures; or Caudecus, backed by the White Mantle and Lazarus; or even Gaheron, having another attempt with an Eternal Flame and succeeding despite our best efforts then becoming a true threat to the Iron Legion).

I would also love to see some kitten retroactive improvements to the personal story. ArenaNet seems to be taking to much focus on metrics – “see what the players like, and polish and increase just that.” They should be doing the opposite – see what players don’t like and improve those so that they do like it… instead, ArenaNet seems intent on ignoring (charr armors) or completely removing such things (F/U path of TA). sigh

How about after the Halloween event, the first time you log in your character wakes up on the beach in Lions Arch wearing nothing but their underwear and surrounded by empty bottles?

Lord Faren would then run up to you. You’d babble at him about Trehearne and Scarlet for a while. He’d then tell you that no Sylvari by those names had ever existed and you must have just been under the influence of an alcohol fueled fever dream.

Shiro Tagachi revives, kills Kormir, steals her power and uses the Jade Wind on all of Cantha, preparing to slam Cantha into Tyria.

Vizier Khilbron comes back and absorbs Zhaitan’s power, becoming the new leader of the Risen and pushing the Pact out of Orr.

The Mursaat, led by Lazarus the Dire, return in force and descend upon Divinity’s Reach and kill the queen, then begin indoctrinating the citizens of Kryta to serve them, and killing/sacrificing those who resist.

Gaheron Baelfire returns and becomes and even bigger fire-lich, blowing up the Black Citade——

Ok, no, that one wouldn’t happen. But the other three probably would, and much worse, if what you say comes to pass. Besides, not even Trehearne deserves to have to put up with Scarlet. That’s just too evil.
