Will this update actually contain lore or are we going to again here how its connected to everything but they arent ready to reveal everything yet? Will NPCs actually have a clue whats going on and be able to talk to me about whats happening or am I going to have to read another article about the characters involved? Are we going to finally have a real role in the world or are we just going to be another scavenger hunt team or clean up crew? Will NPCs finally stick around for more then 2 weeks or are we going to be introduced to someone for a month and then never talk to them again?

Seriously, when is the story telling going to improve?

There’s another short story up. That’s about it so far.

Telling a game’s story or showing off a character’s personality through a short story which is removed from the game or character is worthless.

Imagine how much more powerful it would be if you got to see and experience Scarlet becoming mad and seeing her go through her personality change and how she got mad as opposed to reading it in an article outside the game.

That’s what makes a game such a unique and powerful product of entertainment, but Anet doesn’t use that to their advantage.

Why does everyone just skip vistas after they’ve seen a few? Because though pretty, vistas are worthless to give you a feeling of the setting and world around you. Imagine how much more powerful it would be if you actually had a reason to explore, see, and experience all those vistas for yourself, instead of seeing them through a telescope.

Also that centaur kicking me in the face while I’m viewing the vista is a big distraction.

Oh, I totally agree. The short stories should only ever be supplemental, and not required for critical understanding of the plot in game.

You are invulnerable while viewing vistas. Just so you know
