It wasn’t charming to run with griefers and in one gigantic blob.
Y’all realize that ANet added an option to drastically reduce the number of character models that render, right?
Add to that the ability to remove nameplates, and the clocktower is probably already much easier this year, even if ANet didn’t change it.
I know exactly why I failed it despite hours of effort: I turn by moving my mouse on the pad. Constant turning to the right = running out of pad. Time tolerances are too tight in the Tower to let me lift my mouse back to the left as I can in any other part of game play.
That’s on me, I’ve never mastered WASD (and on an aside, it perplexes me that the same people touting WASD laugh at keyboard turners, at least in other games). I doubt I ever will. The Tower certainly made me exponentially better at all other puzzles, though! Nowadays I use my mesmer to help JP impaired people get JP achieves on a regular basis and it feels soooo nice to have the skill to help.
So for me -personally- a revamp that has the path twist right and left would be better than a racing spiral in one direction but then it wouldn’t be the Tower any more.
Sounds to me like you need to either mess with the in game camera settings or your mouses sensitivity.
Or get a bigger mouse pad.
How about just 3 different difficulty scales/settings this time and new rewards , i see that as fitting and nothing over the top.
You mean… Clock tower tribulation mode?

A private instance would ruin what makes the tower so much fun.
Being able to crowd out smaller players with your huge sparkling norn or char?
Remember, remember, 15th of November
Booerns. One of the best parts about the clock tower was that you were in there with a bunch of people, competing. Having Char and Norns in your way is just an added challenge. They aren’t ALWAYS there. And you will get so used to the puzzle after a bit of practice, that you won’t even notice them after a while.
Fellyn, the mouse is already so sensitive that I can go across two monitors within a few inches of mouse movement. I cleared off my desk and used a large pad. No good!
I accept that my choice of motion control and desk setup means I will not be able to do the Clocktower. I did once make it all the way to the long spar to the leap of faith, but the goo was too high when I landed. I’ll cheer the rest of you on, though
