New Hairstyles - Less Hair Accessories please
I agree, they should also let us dye it with every dye not just the basic ones. It’s impossible to match the accessory with armor in many cases.
Yeah good point. The flower doesn’t dye well at all, it’s really difficult. If we could at least make it ‘true’ black rather than silvery-gray.
female sylvari hair lacking few leafs for sure :s

Asuran females are even worse. Brilliant hair, crappy add ons because they can’t be dyed properly. Huge disappointment after the initial excitement of change! Give us proper dye slots for hair accessories, and make some features toggle able.
Great example is the original Asuran female hair buns, could have been my favourite if it wasn’t for those stupid bows and ribbons. Just stop with ribbons.
Anyway, poor Asuran hair choice is the reason I’ve been bald ingame for the past 12 months, please, if you’re going to update hair, and make us pay for the luxury, at least let us dye it properly, it would be a start, and I assume a lot easier than creating models without the accessories.

I think this is the proper solution, not eliminating hair accessories but instead making them fully customizable as they should be.
For a female asura, you only get 2 hair styles with no accessories, 3 if you’re counting baldness. Almost all of their accessories are very large and noticeable. But the crummy selection of dyes means it’s often impossible to match with your armor. I don’t hate the accessories themselves, I hate the pointlessly limited color selection. Half of the color choices are slightly different shades of brown….does anyone care about brown that much? Why can’t I use my own dyes again?
We should be able to dye every part of our hair accessories from the hero panel, using our own personal dye collection.
Or third option, let people dye the hair accessory. ^ like ndrangles said.

Is there a way to preview the new hairstyles on your own character? Why risk wasting gems on a hairstyle kit if what you thought looks good on one character ended up looking bad on your own?

Well after you buy a hairstyle kit, you could use it to preview the new hairs and then cancel the changes…. the kit is only consumed after you actually make the changes. Same with the total makeover kit – i had 1 and previewed all the new hairstyles on all my characters with it Even if you end up not using it, i don’t think it’s a waste of gems, there might be a point later when you decide to use it anyway.

Awesome, nice to know. I should have read the wiki or something~ Thx
Also for the preview ist the best to unequip your headwear because in the editor you always see the helmet when you show your armor, but its important to have a view with your actual armor to see maybe clipping problems, and of course also to find a fitting color
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
Less long hair please and better smaller hair styles. The one female human short hair, kinda over the eye that I really like is also one of the only ones that clips really bad with any sort of mask. Tried replacing it with one of the new hairstyles but I just don’t really like them as well and will probably swap back and stick to tiny boring face masks. So difficult trying to emulate your GW1 characters. /sigh.
Also why is it that you can’t just change hair accessory color on the dye panel? Or dye weapons (like you could in gw1). Why can’t we save off dye combinations and load them (text file format similar to skills in gw1).
So many great features in gw1 that failed to make it into gw2.
Also these new hair styles and colors should be available to any newly made character. Makes you look bad and greedy as a company to have them only be able to be added to a character via a cash store purchase.
I like the new hair styles, and I don’t mind them being exclusive to the gem store, but I do wish there was a way to dye hair accessories. They’re a relatively minor thing (in that many characters don’t have them and they’re hardly visible under many conditions,) but as someone who changes dye colors frequently, it’s a bit of a turnoff to think a hair accessory could clash later down the road.
I also think Hair Accessories should have a dye slot somewhere on your Hero Panel (on the Town Clothes pane perhaps?). The default selection of dyes doesn’t cut it.
Pretty shocking to find out they didn’t add a simple pony tail choice for human females though.

My Asura has red hair, so I just dyed the ribbons red as well, and they blend in quite well. If I wasn’t able to match it though, it would annoy me. The accessory should be dyeable like the rest of our armor. I mean, who knows at character creation time what permanent color scheme they want to use for their character? This can change quite easily with armor upgrades, and it would be nice to be able to change the color of the hair accessories as well.
Oh, please let us be able to dye accessories! It feels so dependent on guessing what dye you will like the best when you choose it, and using a kit for just changing dye on that is not worth it. It would make a lot of people happy.

Agreed. I’m quite annoyed not being able to match the hair accessory with the other dyes I’ve unlocked / buyed (sometimes for a hefty gold coins tag on the TP).
Also, please keep them coming. If you can spit up new hairstyles every month, you’ll secure a steady income from me (and other so inclined players I’m sure) :p

Agreed. I probably would have changed at least three of my characters hair styles if not for the accessories. I like some of the hair styles a lot but feel they are ruined by the lack of customization of the accessory. Accessories should be skins added to the game to replace helms, not be statically built into the hair styles with very poor limited dye selection options that can only be changed by using a kit. At least a true white or black for accessories would go with almost anything.
I’m also disappointed that the red hair colours are different shades on different hair styles. Orange Red on the new human female styles seems too muted, barely red at all. It might just be the preview window not doing it justice, but I’m not willing to risk having to use two kits to try it out in game in better lighting and change back if I don’t like it.

wtf NO
This is how they make their money. It is the cosmetics of the game. And you get free total make over kits with achievement points, and/or other ways. I got 2 total make over kits that I saved up, that was given to me for free by anet. how is this being greedy?
also it is only 13-17g for a make over kit/total make over kit.
It would be really really nice to be able to dye hair accessories with our normal dyes at any time, just like we do armor. I’ve had to just dye them extremely neutral colors, or commit to using a starter color as part of the armor if I want it to look even somewhat decent.
I was excited when they stated 30 new hairstyles for each race.
I was dissappointed to see 2 new hair styles for male Asuran. Very.
So not sure what they meant by wed have access to all 30 hairstyles on all races. 2 doesnt even mean 50% of 30.
I have mixed feelings about the new hair styles. I only use male characters so keep that in mind. I was most interested in the Sylvari ones as I have 3 Sylvari. The issue I have is with the really bad clipping on the shoulder piece of my cultural armor (light t1.)
I bought a hairstyle change thingy just for the new hair for my mesmer. After seeing how bad it clipped with his shoulder piece it went back in my vault. The mohawk for male Asura looks promising, so that is probably what I’ll do. He currently looks like he stuck his finger in an electrical socket so any change would be an improvement for him.

It is not an invalid opinion to think the new hairstyles should have been available in character creation. All current characters have to use a kit to change to the new hairstyles anyway, thus it guarantees income, but it feels unnecessarily cheap to force the use of a kit on a brand new character, given that they just came out of character creation. I believe all appearance options should be readily available for all characters up front.
We get a Total Makeover Kit for every 5000 achievement points. In 406 days of play I’ve gotten one kit. I have seven characters. The kits are fairly reasonably priced but I will not throw money away when I may not like the result and have to use another kit to change back again. There is a reason why we have money-back guarantees, view houses before buying, and test drive cars. Had the new styles been available in character creation, I would bought several kits by now and changed my higher level characters because I would have been able to test different options in game to determine what I like before hand. In my case, and I am sure there are others who are the same, their decision has resulted in lost profit.
As much as I dislike some of their sales decisions, I do have to defend Anet by stating that unless they start putting pay to win items behind a pay-wall, they have to have some cosmetics at least behind a pay-wall or they do not make enough money to stay in business.
Or they get their plug yanked by NCsoft because that are not the leading cash cow. Etc.
I really like the accessories, the only problem here is not being able to dye them correctly.
