Slick "Jormag take these oozes"
yea I noticed that as well, and was thinking the same thing..
GW2 – Living story = Virtual World War3 :-)
Would be interesting to see an all out war between the players and all the racial enemies, backed by the dragons/Gods (Would be interesting to see Teq randomly spawn in Queensdale to wipe out the entire city) stuff like that…Hey why not!

I think you’re reading too much into all of this.
Why arnt all dredge considered part of the molten alliance? Or all flame legion?
Scarlet is taking these small parts of these larger groups and combining them together. She doesn’t have the entirety of the dredge, flame legion, nightmare court, sons of svanir, and inquest at her beck and call. She has a small group that defected into her forces.
Besides I haven’t seen any inquest since Sky Pirates so i’d say they were only working with her, and not for her.
I don’t think this means he is a Son of Svanir. It sounds like a totally ordinary norn quote.
Fear The Crazy [Huns]
He is using Jormag’s name as a curse. He is not invoking his name actually asking for Jormag’s help.
Depends on what the quote means. Does he hate both the Oozes so much, he would send them to Jormag so they can bother him? Or is he asking help from Jormag, to defeat these Oozes?
Smough The Cruel [WvW] – Warrior
In the german translation he wishes the oozes away to jormag.
Fancy way of saying that he wishes ill will towards the oozes.
He’s cursing the oozes. He considers Jormag as something that would be bad for them.
I took it as a curse. Sort of like saying “To hell with these oozes!”
(watch, they’ll be a ‘kitten’ in there once I hit post..)
Forever known as “that slow guardian who can’t jump worth crap”.
Yes I think it is just an off-comment curse, and he uses Jormag because that is a general Norn adversary.
Nah, he’s saying it like we would say “The devil take these oozes.” He doesn’t like Jormag, which is why he’s saying it like that.
It’s clearly meant as a curse. There are no indications of the Sons of Svanir working with/for Scarlet, and I’m sure they never would.
Narrative Lead
A lot of folks have called out the right answer, but I’ll confirm it: Slick is not a Son of Svanir and does not worship Jormag.
In this case, he’s using “Jormag take these oozes” in the same vein as “to the Devil with these oozes” or “to hell with these oozes.” He’s wishing ill upon them and cursing them to suffer the Elder Dragon’s tender mercies.
And Dignity was restored to the Sons of Svanir!
Well, given their rabidly misogynistic ideals, I’d find it VERY odd if a Son of Svanir were to willingly follow Scarlet.
Getting paid and/or not getting killed can make ya overlook a lot of fine details.

The entire organization? Sure
Individuals? Not so much, like another poster said if I’m getting paid, given power, or just basically not killed I’d follow along.
The point is (Norn) moot though because he’s not Svanir.

The Sons of Svanir aren’t misogynistic. It’s a brotherhood/fraternity in the vein of the Order of the Water Buffalo from the Flintstones.
Women can’t join because Jormag literally will not accept them. Jormag’s corruption can’t take them.
At best, it stunts the female norn her connection to the Spirits of the Wild and prevents her being able to take a beast form.
She remains uncorrupted and is otherwise well and rather kitten ed off about it to understate it (Jora). At worst, she simply dies.
Norn males on the other hand, can be corrupted into terrible beasts.

It isn’t Jormag that won’t take them – it’s the Sons of Svanir that won’t accept them because of what Jora did in GW1.
In GW1, in the Eye of the North expansion, you join Jora – a Norn female – on one of the major pieces of the EotN storyline; the player helps slay her corrupted brother (called the “Nornbear”). Her brother’s real name is Svanir, and the cult “Sons of Svanir” were named after him. Because of Jora killing him, the Sons of Svanir won’t accept women into their cult.

Oh, no, the Sons of Svanir are very misogynistic. There was an interview with Jeff Grubb, Ree Soesbee, and Scott McGough that said that any female norn who are corrupted just get killed off by the Sons of Svanir. Jormag doesn’t care who he corrupts – and will corrupt female norn if he can, but at the same time he doesn’t care what happens with his minions since they’re insignificant to him in the long run.

Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

I stand corrected!
Thank you. I’ll definitely be looking at them a little different from now on. They lost their status as “evil bad kittens” to “Norn version of the Flame Legion”.
All this time I thought the reason that promo art of female Sons of Svanir didn’t make it in is because norn women couldn’t be corrupted because of what Jora did.
I thought the killing Svanir thing played second to that. Eh. The more you know.
GuildMag (Ollannach): So we’ve also gone to Twitter and asked our followers to send us some questions. While we read through a few of them and chosen the ones that were most important. So… in Edge of Destiny it’s observed that men who go to fight Jormag’s minions and fail, return as icebroods but women don’t return at all. Is there anything more about what happens to women who fall under Jormag’s power?
ArenaNet (Jeff Grubb): I don’t think they fall as much as they are killed.
ArenaNet (Ree Soesbee) : Yeah, they die.
ArenaNet (Jeff Grubb) : The Sons of Svanir just… the way that they worship Jormag has evolved is very chauvinist, very male chauvinist, in the fact that it is a very boys-only club, they don’t really get to reanimate. The women are just slain.
ArenaNet (Ree Soesbee) : I think it’s less that Jormag won’t corrupt a woman and more that as they are being corrupted, the Sons of Svanir will just kill any woman who is caught being given Svanir’s gift.
ArenaNet (Jeff Grubb) : Jormag doesn’t care. Jormag really does not care. It’s as if ants that are going off, the red ants and the black ants, that’s nice. But the Sons of Svanir…
ArenaNet (Ree Soesbee) : The Sons of Svanir have a cult, it’s a religious organisation.
ArenaNet (Jeff Grubb) : It comes through hat funnel, the Sons of Svanir are his mechanism in the world, so therefore their beliefs, and their prejudices, have that effect.
ArenaNet (Ree Soesbee) : And so they kill the women.
