Guild Wars 2

So, I apologize if its been brought up before or if I have any wrong info, but…

I did my first new dungeon run here last night. While I favor the idea of ‘harder content’ (I love the Tequatl change), I don’t see myself doing this more. The time/frustration vs reward was pretty underwhelming. Or maybe I am just so sick to death of steampunk it makes me want to vomit.

Anyway, after it was all said and done I thought to myself, “if this is a permanent dungeon, do we never stop these people?” While I know they could alter some things here and there, the word “permanent” was used (I’m pretty sure) and I don’t think they could tweak much without it feeling like a whole different dungeon again.

First off, the Aetherblades. If this is a new perm path, its pretty clear these guys are not going away. So, are we always going to “find and infiltrate” this base with Caithe and the lionguard until the end of GW2? (I know things can change, I’m just saying this because of the use of the word permanent on their end.) I guess one could argue it could be the same as the risen in the personal story, how “even though Zhaitan is dead, it will take a while to clean Orr of his corruption.” But would there be THAT many Aetherblades?? And after Scarlet is stopped?

And what about Scarlet? I mean it seems that this story HAS to wrap up in some way, being the Living Story and all. So, okay, let’s say we kill her. Stop her. Turn her good. Whatever. That dungeon will seem very strange afterwards. I know you can argue those are all pre-recorded holograms, but that part between Scarlet holo and Caithe seemed more like a conversation to me, even if it was technically one sided. Scarlet did pause plenty for Caithe to speak.

So in summary, I took away from this dungeon yesterday that these people are always here to stay. Ugh. I’m ready to get back to the elder dragons that seemed to be the big point of this game when it was initially advertised… (really hoping they at least tie into it somewhere.)

So, thoughts? Is my information wrong or misinterpreted somewhere?

It’s like any action story series. Your hero fights against the villains every week and in each episode the boss villain survives, ready to start new trouble next week. There’s no point getting annoyed about it. This is the way serialized stories have been written even going back to the 19th century and probably even earlier.

Not yet. It has been hinted that this arc will come to an end eventually and that they’ve planned far enough ahead to know this.

The entire TA dungeon is presented as a ‘what if …’ so there is no one definitive correct path.
