Ok so This new content is only for level 50 and above as I have found out…so us lower levels are SOL when it comes to the content and finding out what happens at the end. The two spiders at the beginning kills lower levels with one to two hits so its relatively useless to bother with it. Sad though seemed like it might have been fun to do it.

Then go level? It takes 30 hours to go lvl1 to lvl80

Hate to be the one to bring you more bad news, but it is actually only for level 80. Not level 50 and above. The dungeon itself is for level 50-55 sure, but this one path is only level 80.

Theres so much content for leveling players. The biweekly content if mainly for those who reached max level and need more things to do.
I myself leveled up 3 characters to level 80 just to enjoy all things the game had to offer to leveling players after that I started gearing up my characters and worked on the living story.

The new dungeon path is permanent, so you’ll have plenty of time to do once you are level 80.

Yep. Amazing how much they hyped this up and at the end of the day, we accomplish little more than killing more pirates and gimmicky bosses. So really, just go watch a video or read up on the wiki if you want to see what little “story” there is.

dude, 1-80 is less than 5 days while doing your homework and going to school and studying for tests

Not exactly leveling that fast…cause I have tons of people helping and taking down the exp I would get if done solo.

It has taken me months to level up my characters….Cause of people helping and halfing my exp in half then I am helping My wife get started with a few of her characters and get half the exp killing things with her. Its alot slower leveling when others are helping.

Mob killing hint: Kill mobs that haven’t been killed for an hour or so, the bonus XP you get from them will be double the regular XP.

Also yeah do Events, explore and do your personal story, that gives you loads of XP.

This game is designed to avoid leveling through mob farming.

Events, hearts, PS, dungeons. They all provide better experience and you get to kill mobs while doing so.

Do events Do hearts but I stay away from dungeons cause you need a crap ton of people to even get through them and I do not want my exp split amoung people or people tagging monsters and me getting nothing for killing and yeah I have heard that does not happen in this game but I have watched it seen it and proved it time and again. So I will get leveled up one day its no big deal. When I am level 80 and getting EXP means nothing I will start doing other things. Until then I guess I miss out on content and such cause I am not about to have to gather a group of people I do not know and give them my exp and loot.

There is no such thing as tagging. You’re killing one same type of mob too frequently.
There’s diminishing returns.
Read and observe.

If done right, you can level to 80 in about one week, while working/studying/doing whatever you do for a living.

Killing mobs was never meant to be an efficient way to level up. You need to do hearts and events. Especially events. Those 2 things will get you get most of your levels. Also unlocking new areas and gathering probably give more experience than killing everything that moves.

And later when you’re well off you can craft your way through some levels.

I don’t remember any of the press getting some goody or trinket to show off the Dungeon path.

You’re being dense. There is no exp leeching or loot stealing in any form in this game. Mobs are meant to give little to no experience relative to your level. It’s designed that way.

Also once you clear a path for a dungeon you get about 3/4 a bar worth of exp. So that alone makes it worth the time they take if you’re looking to level.

And I hardly consider four people a “crap ton”.

You may think that XP is split but you’re wrong, experience is not split based on the number of people fighting a mob. This means that so long as you do enough damage to get a kill credit (i.e. you get XP for killing the mob) you get the same XP regardless of how many people were involved. You get the same for soloing a champion as for killing him with 10 other players. This is just the way it works.

However monster kills can award a variable amount of bonus XP, this variable amount is dependant on the time that mob has been alive for, so if you’re away from where other players have been playing you will get more bonus XP than if you’re in an area surrounded by other players. If you’re in fights where there are other players it’s likely that the mob you’re fighting has recently re-spawned after being killed.

So it is not reduced by other players fighting the same mob as you but it is reduced by mob having recently respawned after being killed.

You will also get reduced XP when you are down levelled or possibly due to diminishing returns.

Also your loot isn’t affected by other players, if you get XP for a mob then you have a chance of getting loot from that mob. Other people cannot take your loot.

The XP is determined by your level vs the mobs level. If you two aren’t exactly the same level, you won’t get exactly the same xp.

Loot is RANDOM. For you and for her. You don’t split it, and you don’t get exactly the same things. Sometime you will get loot sometime you wont. Sometimes she will get loot sometimes she won’t. What either of you gets has no effect on what the other gets. You would get the same amount of loot if there were fifty other people around hitting the same mob. (as long as you hit it too.)

People mob champions by the Hundreds, all day long for exactly this reason and all get the same loot that they would have gotten if they had soloed it. Not exactly the same loot because it’s still a random loot table, for each person.

No matter what you do in the game, anywhere at all, all of your rewards will be the same regardless of anyone else participating. They are all determined randomly based on your own chr stats, level, buffs and personal Diminishing Rewards. (The more you do any one thing the less you get. This holds true in nearly every corner of the game.)

But none of that changes the fact that the XP from mobs is practically worthless compared to any other means of getting XP. Events and heart quests, skill points and vistas, points of interest and discovery will always be the primary means of leveling in open world PVE.

I’d just like to point out that leveling in 5 days, as was suggested above, is playing all day long. Leveling for most people new to the game will take 2-3 weeks.

This dungeon is permanent. This alone renders your complaints invalid. In addition, if you are unable to level your character to 80 in less than a few months, I predict you will have serious difficulties with this path even when at 80.

BTW this game throws xp in your face no matter what you do. I personally think it would be a challenge to play for months and not have at least one level 80.. they should add an achievement for that Don’t know what else to tell you, if you have at least 500-1000 ap or more you probably got some exp boosters, wait for one of those scarlet’s invasions, pop one, and go level.. Or find some friends willing to take on people below 80 on easy dungeon paths, like CoF p1, SE p1, AC, and so on..

It can happen that one of you gets loot and one doesn’t depending on the roll. If you’re both killing a mob and one of you gets xp while one doesn’t, then your account is bugged somehow and you need to talk to support.

The Living Story spent too much time in it’s infancy pandering to lowbies, always being set in starter zones and up-scaling non L80s. I’m glad we’re seeing more solid L80 content now.

You can level doing map competition fairly quickly. This is what I did for six of my characters. You should average about 1.5 – 2 hours per map. It doesn’t really matter much if you’re new since after you’ve done one map, you’ve pretty much covered how all the others will be.

dude you had a lvl 60 4 months ago… what have you been doing? Also exp isn’t split , neither is loot, you have had this discussion many many many times now. You say u hate grouping and feel forced but you make a guild and recruit? lol

I have not recruited only people in my guild is my wife and My characters created it to get away with not joining others so no I have not recruited Kingmutez. I have 5 characters from level 27 to 77 but I wanted to be able to do the content with all my characters not just one or two.

Wow. I looked through his post history and there are a ton of posts about this from him. He’s told time after time about how exp and loot works in this game but refuses to believe players and official sources.

If you where suckered in every game you played you might be the same way. I know when I have seen things that are not true and watched as things happen in the game that are contrary to what I have heard and been told. So if you tell me one thing and I see another why would I believe I was not being suckered again. I watched as I get different xp and loot then my wife…I have watched as someone ran by tagged a monster and then I kill the monster and hardly get crap for it. If we all get the same loot and xp like everyone says why would everything come up different on my end or I get nothing at all…whether i hit it once or hit it 500 times according to what I am being told and what the game says it does I should get the same thing everyone else does but I don’t and this random crap on loot that leaves it the way I have said…if someone else plays with a group then there is a bigger chance of getting crap then working alone or with one other person and getting what you would not get working with a huge group. So yeah I feel like I am being suckered yet again in another game.

Once again, if you are experiencing these things then there is something wrong with your game/account somehow and you should contact support. Complaining about it on the forums will do you absolutely no good whatsoever and the longer you do it without trying to solve the problem via the correct procedure the more people tend to suspect that you’re lying about it just to be a troll.

Not lying and nothing the company can do about what a MMO is and how the Mechanics of ALL MMO’s are. There is no way to change what it is made to be..its the game its how things are….I just think its really shotty to try and convince people and actually convincing people that these mechanics are really different when their not.

We’ve set up this elaborate ruse to convince you that what you’re seeing is wrong…we set up a whole Wiki and have dozens of fake accounts on this forum just to convince you that there is xp/loot sharing in this game. You’re just WAY smarter than us so you could see through it, good job! But man it was great while it lasted!

Yep read it…think its crap think its just another wiki that is trying to get us to believe something thats not true….I have seen different way different then what that wiki says and even what the Guild Wars 2 guide book says. I have SEEN it its no different then Rift or any other MMO from what I have seen. The more people you are with the less you get. Thats just the mechanics of MMO’s ALL of them. So I play with as few people as possible less there is no other option then I guess in those situations exp is not the prime objective to me.

I was once explained that experience was give out in a percentage which is exactly what I have been trying to say. If I kill a monster with my wife…I am suppose to get a percentage and she is suppose to get a percentage. As it stands I get a lower percentage being that I am a higher level then she is according to the exp she got and what I got killing one thing. So if a third person killed that same creature with us that person would get a percentage of that monster with us if that monster has 300 exp total we all get a percentage of that total according to our level. Thats what I am seeing happen. So if 30 people go out and get a creature and that creature has 8k exp then that 30 people is going to get a percentage of that 8k exp so not everyone will get the same exp only a percentage of the 8k so the less the people the more the exp. Depending on level. Which is the case of ALL MMO’s.

How about recording you and your wife playing simultaneously? We can then get a better idea about what’s going on. It only needs to be for a few minutes of the both of you killing the exact same things.

I do not have the program to record live gaming from the game but I do have screen shots. I will have to get her to send me the pic we took the other day.

I think it’s only $20. The free version can record up to 30 seconds which could be enough to kill things. This is FRAPS that I’m referring to.

Screenshots of yours and hers UI (so we can see your levels and buffs) as well as what you’re fighting and the combat log showing the experience gained. If its part of an event, the medal ranking will also be useful to see.

You won’t necessarily get loot at the same time she does. You know how when you fight solo, you don’t get loot from everything you kill? That’s how it works, here. Sometimes what you kill will have loot for you, and sometimes it won’t.

You get different experience numbers and loot frequency based on your level, how often you have participated in or killed something, and how recently the enemy spawned. All kills are not created equal.

There is a minimum amount of damage you need to do to an enemy in order to gain credit for loot and/or experience when it dies. You do not get credit for your party members killing things unless you have done the minimum amount, and vice versa.

In this way, it can seem like tagging might be happening, but it is not. Otherwise, explain to me how I frequently get loot from Champion events where 10-50 other people have already “tagged” the monster and I come in late to the fight. By your definition of tagging, that simply could not happen.

MMOs use a variety of engines and builds. Just because they’ve all chosen a similar model for how tagging npcs works doesn’t mean this one can’t make a change. Since GW2 clearly has.

I am still seeing it much different so I just stick with playing the game with my wife and not getting suckered into groups and zergs and such to find out that I have just lost so much more I can get solo….maybe when I get my characters to level 80 and my loot and exp are virtually useless…..I will play around with zergs and such then I will not mind giving my stuff over to a lower player being that I do not need it.

Sorry, not to sound like a jerk, but I really don’t feel bad for you. As a person with 9 level 80s, I would much rather see content that actually interests me and has a greater challenge. It really doesn’t take that long to get to 80, and once you get there, you’ll want level 80 content as well.
