What are the chances of have this available from the Gem store?

Spent $50 on boxes to get the 3 minis and all i got was a million woolen jumpers and a snowflake – don’t agree with this “gambling” method where people are using real money to get these in game features.

I realise it’s supposed to be rare, but surely there is a better way than this?

If it was $50 from the Gem store i would have bought it outright, rather than having a bank full of jumpers that i have no use for – i’ll just vendor these items.

Anyone agree? Disagree?

You know you can use those sweaters for more presents, which might drop other rare things, no quaggan though.

Yes I flee the way to get the Quaggan mini pet is just wrong. First I do not gamble, and I am not going to just for a mini, however this means I can not get any of the mini I need to get the Quaggan.
I really feel this is as bad of a situation as the Halloween skins, only this holiday they reversed it and allowed us to use sweaters to get the skins. Or buy nicer ones on the Gem store. So please allow us to buy the Quaggan mini pet, I know you do changes all the time Anet. Such as giving me another 250 cogs after I bought all the mini pets on the store, which I can not use to get the Quaggan I really want.

So stop with chests that only give us a chance, let us buy things directly. I would spend way more gems that way. So far I have spent about a 1000 gems on Christmas gem store items, because I could get them on the gem store directly. I am talking about the winters day costume and the wooden weapons. Oh and the toy mini pets. However I can not get the other mini pets, not even but using in game gold and buying them off the TP. I would have to buy gems with gold and right now that is just far too expensive. Please Anet, let us buy the Quaggan in the gem store.

That’s true. But it should really be one or the other – either you pay real money and get a guarenteed sale, or you take a chance on a rare item. Not pay real money to gamble for a chance at a rare item.

Which is exactly what the OP was trying to do. They clearly said they didn’t get any of the 3 minis needed to make the Quaggan.

You know, I think that if you made the Quaggan a $20 purchase it would still be rare. And really, what’s the point of ‘rare’ items – when you can’t put them on the trading post? I would think there would be an issue if you were allowed to flip Quaggans but you can’t. So, ‘rare’ is still valid. You’re just being more reasonable with real money purchases and I would guess Arena Net would make quite a bit more dough. But, all that said, I’m personally fine not having one but if I really did want one, I’d be pretty kitten if I spent a LOT of my money and just didn’t get lucky enough to get one.

+1 here. In the halloween event I bought the mini-pet 3-pack, and bought a second pack to make the skeleton. I would happily do the same with the Wintersday minis but I absolutely will not risk throwing money at it until I randomly get 6 minis out of boxes.

Of course, this has the nifty bonus effect that, having decided I won’t go that far for these ones, I feel freed of my obsession to own all mini-pets. Thanks Anet, for ensuring that I will never again need to give you my money!

I know there are minis you can buy outright on the Gem store (plus griffon etc) and there are others that only drop in the boxes (snowman etc). I was under the impression that only the dropped minis combined with the stuffing would produce the Quaggan?

IMO – If they wanted to keep it rare, it should be a drop… not available via online gambling.

Yes this is what I’ve read as well, that only the three minis that drop from the mystery boxes with work (combined with the stuffing).

I decided to give it a go. I spent £8.50 on gems, I spent the entire lot on boxes and didn’t receive one mini, never mind three to then combine for the Quaggan

I’m sorry but this can’t be right can it? I can buy a pretty decent game for £8.50. All I can show for my money is a few tonics and a few of them jumpers. The price of gems is far too much, or the price of items is far too much – which ever way you want to put it.

I’ve supported this game from way before it was even half ready, got friends playing it and now will do as much as I can to help make it succeed as I really think ArenaNet deserve it to. However, things like this are starting to annoy me. I mean, how much actual money would I have to spend to get the Quaggan mini, £30? £50? Just put it on the Gem store and let players buy it, I don’t care if its rare or the most common pet going, I just want it for the look.

ANet is not winning points with people who have gotten it, judging by how there are no threads celebrating getting the mini quaggan (I did see some posts in the general Wintersday screenshot thread). ANet is turning down money from some percentage of their players who would like to give it to them. Maybe the numbers from exploiting impulsive rich people make up for it, but I frankly don’t think it’s a wise business decision.

I’m not sure why ANet doesn’t just make the minis unbound and call it a day. Then they still have the gamble boxes to exploit impulse buyers, but people with bad luck can at least get them on the TP.

Then I stand corrected a little bit.

I’ve honestly never seen anyone who wanted Foostivoo just for rarity. They probably exist, but I think that’s a much smaller group than the people who want Foostivoo for collecting, quaggan or cute. Hopefully next month ANet uses a less RNG way for minis. I’m fine with paying more for a guarantee and have a cheaper gamble box or whatever, I just want a way to actually buy the things instead of buying a lottery ticket.

so less than 10 people appreciate the pet out of 100000’s haha. the gambling will earn them more money in the short term but lose them more in the long term when most of those “gamblers” get fed up of losing against the dealer. if they just make everything buy-able at a flat rate and remove the ridiculous gambling with the boxes or least have both, that way maybe you get lucky and spend less gems to get what you want, maybe your unlucky or feeling stingy then you can always just buy it outright.

i feel bad that you spent 50$ tho and didnt even get a single mini pet at all? at least if u got any of the other 3 you could of used the mystic toilet to make a quaggan.

Yeah, i felt bad afterwards – i read a post where a guy bought a few boxes and got all 3 pets, so i was pretty optimistic.

Is this really by chance? All I did was throw 3 minis and that 4th component w/e it was into the mystic forge and got it, I thought it was guaranteed or something :x
