So I purchased gems to get all the Tixxs’ Mini’s then later there is an update and I can now craft another in game. This seems unfair to anyone that made the purchase from the gem store.

Then I rushed to the TP and bought all the stuffing I could get. Might make a bit up for the 350 gems wasted.

Not to -anyone-. I bought all 5 in the store so I could make tonics. Of course, I used up all my darn mats and bought some more for around 2 gold and did 12 tonic attempts without getting any tonics. So I still have 5 frames and a lot of cogs using up bank space.

I did like the idea of endless tonics. Alas, they remain but an idea for me!

The only extra cogs I’ve received were the 200 ones from the chest, and you need 250. Where did you find these extra 50 cogs? O.o

EDIT: Ignore my post if you’re counting the cogs from the gifts. Totally forgot about those.

A piece of mail was just sent out to everyone that contained 250 cogs and all the other stuff from Tixx for both PvE and PvP.

Lol they’re already too crazy for me. Nearly 3g for a stack of stuffing. I’ll wait towards the end of the event, and everyone’s already bought their extra toy. XD

Learn from your mistake to rush and buy things long before the event is was over. There is no harm in buying gems and waiting BTW but there is no need to buy the items on the gem store ASAP.

That is not a fair statement. I litterally bought the last 3 minis an hour ago, as we were in the final stage of the Wintersday Event. There was no indication they could pull something like this on us, no communication on their side that this could happen.

People complain about only getting two pets for free. ArenaNet gives everyone enough cogs to make a third; people complain about already buying the others with gems.

ArenaNet had said they were working on a fix for those who got a bugged Tixx reward so no my statement is completely fair. Yes there was no indication we would get more cogs but at the same time ArenaNet was not fixing issues.

But they said we were only going to be able to make 2. There was supposed to be no harm in buying the rest. I mean I appreciate the extra mini, but they REALLY should’ve communicated this better so we didn’t have to needlessly buy a third mini…

I guess you could have predicted something like that would happen because people were mentioning they couldn’t get rewards from the chest.

If they couldn’t loot the chest the only other option would have been to send a mail to everyone.

I don’t want to attack ANet for trying to offer a fix for people not getting rewards, and offering an extra toy. However, there is a serious (and very well known) issue with their communication.

Yes there was a post saying we could only make 2 then there was a post saying ANet was working on a fix for Tixxs gift, the point is still valid you should have waited. The event is going on till jan 3rd there was no reason to have to buy them that second. Even if you spent gold for gems you could buy gems anytime and WAIT hell if it turned out you didn’t need as many gems as you thought you could sell them back(you would make more gold back than what those gems were worth when you bought them) or saved them for the next event

I don’t want to argue with anyone. I think both points brought up in this thread are valid, and I hope ArenaNet takes this in to better their next event. However, I don’t think it’s fair to completely to shrug off a complaint without trying to uncover the real issue here, and that is ArenaNet’s poor communication to their players.

Yes, I feel exactly the same way, since Anet already post renoouncement that we could only have enough cogs for 2 minis, I bought the rest 3 yesterday, 350 gems wasted…

I could use it to buy other cool things though….:( I think Anet owe us an explanation. People lose money because of their statement, it’s an issue that must be discussed.

No we should not have waited. Anet said 2 was the limit. Not “you can make 2 now, but maybe later on while the event is still going we might let you make more.” Everyone who bought the other 3 minis bought them on the basis that we would not be able to get them through other in-game means. This is on Anet, not us.

That’s a little harsh. Considering the fixes they made to try to better this event from the last two, I think they’re doing a great job.

I’m sure they’ll take this into consideration for the next event… Canthan New Year? (floating lanterns!!!)

No complains here, cosmetic is cosmetic, I just made the one I liked, the golem, and thats it and I’m happy with it ^^

Iirc his exact words were something along the lines of “If you do all 5 infiniarium events, you will have enough to produce 2 toys.”

It left a lot of speculation up to ‘Oh snap what if toypocalypse gives cogs!?’, although it obviously doesn’t now.

But you need 250 stuffing and 250 glue to craft 3rd one. That costs you about 5 – 6 golds. 5 golds = 250 gems.

after reading that post i was a little down as it meant that we had to pay gems to get the others as the daily was the only way we could get the cogs so i pay out the 350 gems to get the other 3 mini’s then today we get an update and a mail so now i can make another of the tixx minis as i now have 450 cogs spare which means i have wasted 350 gem on a mini that i can now craft because Anet didn’t tell people about this.

now i could go demanding my gems back (it would be nice if they did do this but most likely wont) and kicking up a fuss but what i want most is for the Anet Devs to not do stuff like this again, talk to your players, it stops you from having lot and lots of disgruntled players.

I bought the last 3 minis with Gems, but thats the way it goes, its still good for the players who havnt got any gems at least they can get an extra mini

I agree ArenaNets communication skills leave something greatly to be desired, but after the Lost Shores mess up and the late gift from them for those who d/cd and some people even got a karka chest when they didn’t d/c at all. I would say take this advice for all future events if a bug happens for some kind of reward just wait and see what ArenaNet does to compensate those players who were effected.

In my opinion this is just wrong; many like me bought the other 3 mini pets you weren’t supposed to create, and now they’re messing with us by giving us 250 more cogs. I demand a refund, either 350 gems or my gold back because this is just inappropriate.

Demanding a refund in a forum is like trying to get your money back at Walmart by yelling in the parking lot.

Contact support. It may be worth a try, though I’m almost positive they have a no-refunds policy.

I don’t understand. Is the goal to make the paying customers as angry as possible ? Just like many others, I’ve bought 3 minis after I got the other 2 for free and after ANet made a big announcement about them being available in the gem store and also after Anthony Ordon from ANet said “You’ll have enough to make any two you’d like if you play all five days.”

I feel like I’m one of those guys who can’t help whining for this or that but seriously… enough is enough. We can’t even sell it because it’s account bound. Are you seriously fine with telling us “Hey, you spent 350 gems for nothing but thank you for your donation, we appreciate it !” Wait, what ?

I don’t get this complaining. What the GM said earlier was true. Unfortunately, some people got cheated when they got nothing from the chest. This is a fix for those that got nothing.

In fact, if you got something, you should now have TWO of those 15-slot bags on top of everything else.

Seems win-win to me. And yes, I also bought the other three minis, but now I can have one out with me and the other in the bank.

I have big sympathy for those who bought the 3 missing toys. I bought a 4th toy – so have 2 crafted, 2 bought – last night using gold to gems when I saw gems dropping in price, so I’m pretty lucky I stopped there.
I just regret trying (and failing)to get an endless tonic now, as after converting to gems and buying the stuffing for the failed tonics I don’t really have the money to buy the stuffing/glue I used up. Oh well. I guess I’ll be doing the JP to raise the funds :/

People are hilarious. I had already bought the extra minis but I really don’t mind the extra cogs either. It’s a wonderful gift for those who weren’t able to buy them.

I seriously don’t believe people complaining about this. Can’t say I didn’t see it coming though.

i think the thing ticking most people off is that Anet really needs to communicate more than they have been doing.

yes giving people the free stuff was really nice (and something they didn’t need to do) but for all the people that waited the 350 gems on the 3rd mini there lack of communication is a really sore point.

This is why I held off buying them. As soon as I looked at how the minis were acquired I knew both sets would kitten off collectors and after the controversy with the Halloween weapon skins (which I honestly thought Anet had learned from) I fully expected there to be changes later on.

Honestly even now I’d wait if you haven’t bought them already. It may come to nothing but it wouldn’t surprise me if they made more changes later on as well.
