You get 100 per Infinirarium run, for a total of 2 minis. We received 250 from the chest, that’s a total of 3 minis. However, from the chest we received 200 cogs? Are these supposed to be used, because I see no other way to get the remaining 50, or are these cogs just going to remain in our banks until next year?

I believe the 200 cogs were implemented to get around the problem whereby Diminishing Returns reduced the number of cogs people got from doing the Infinarium runs

My guess is that we got extra cogs just in case a player doesn’t have the time to do every run, so they don’t feel left out and could still make 2 toys.

With the holiday stuff ANet doesn’t seem to want folks to have to do everything 100% to fully enjoy the content which seems reasonable enough. The extra couple hundred cogs means you can still make 2 toys (if yer willing to buy some fluff or glue) even if you only did 3 of the tixx runs.

If you did get the extra you can just hold onto them til next year.

P.S. The physical chest day1 in LA and the mail cogs we got probably weren’t planned. But I hear some people were having trouble with that chest so they switched to the mail system. If you got the chest and the mail you just got lucky and got a little extra. Just because a lot of folks got extra cogs from a quick fix, doesn’t necessarily mean that the event wasn’t planned around people only making 2 toys.

The first two days of the event some people got hit by a bug and got diminishing returns. The 200 cogs in the chest was intended to be a quickie compensation fix for those people so they could have their second mini while the rest of us didn’t get to make a third. The problem arose when those same people and some others couldn’t loot the chest at all, or looted the PvP chest and couldn’t touch the PvE chest. They had to issue out another quick fix in the form of mail to every account in the game.
