Q:
Early buyers skin
A:
You may be thinking about GW1 players who have rewards on their GW1 account. ANet set up a reward system to give free GW2 stuff to some of those players, one of which is a flaming sword skin. Unfortunately, there is currently no way to get that stuff unless you played GW1.
edit: Fro beat me to it ^
This forum is a wretched hive of scum and villainy. ~DevilLordLaser
I’m wondering where you heard that, since I haven’t seen anything about that.
Personally I’d say: don’t believe it unless it’s on the website.
The mysteries dissapear and life stands explained.”
I was reading the forum today and most posts I saw mentioned this.
Not on GW2 that I am aware of. I prepurchased the CE, so if there were any weapon skins tied to an early purchase, I should know
There are extra weapon skins for people who earned specific achievements in GW1 though.

I think you can still earn those items from GW1. Not sure if GW1 is still sold on Anets website but it might be.
edit: Just checked. It’s all still sold on the GW1 website. You need Eye of the North to get the items in GW2 and 1 GW1 game. Eye of the North was not a standalone game like the other 3.

Gw1 is still being sold – bought all recently
There are no free skins for early purchase. Early purchasers got beta invites and a head start. Deluxe and Collectors editions get free in game items. Players that played the original Guild Wars are able to earn many weapon and armor skins in addition to pets, minis and titles. There is also a current Christmas promotion which includes a wizard’s hat.
You may have heard about either of these:
1) Hall of Monument rewards for playing the original Guild Wars.

2) The current Christmas promotion which features upgrade to the Deluxe edition and wizard’s hat.

How is one Able to obtain these skins Without gW 1
How is one Able to obtain these skins Without gW 1
You can’t. You MUST own GW1 and play it for a considerable time to earn those skins.
@Raggi, you cant. They were for dedicated GW1 fans that wanted to put in the effort. Some of the things could take upwards of hundreds of hours to earn.
As for GW2 limited skins, there was a baseball cap for early purchases, and a t-shirt for people that went to one of the launch events. Both were town clothes.

You can’t, you must purchase and play:
1) Guild Wars: Eye of the North
2) At least one of the following: Guild Wars Prophecies, Factions or Nightfall.
Honestly, if you choose to do this it is semi easy to earn a few skins right away. Getting all the skins would take a couple of months, and to unlock all titles would take near a year. My advice would be to look at the rewards and see which ones you would want, then find out how long it would take you to get the amount of reward points needed, then decide if the time would be worth it to you.

When people say hundreds of hours, they mean it.
I have a couple hundred hours in GW1 and I only have up to the staff, thankfully it seems to even out a bit once you reach level 20 and can access everything though it still takes time.
