Endless Tonics working as intended?...
Well there’s also a chance of getting the toymaker tonic. I’m assuming that’s rather rare as you’ll most likely get the 5th tonic that you did not make.
Maybe they wanted to give you a way of getting both the tonic and the minipet of same type.

1. That option is already available through the Gem Store i.e. use Frames for Tonics, buy Minpets with Gems.
2. I can’t get new Frames, nor do I want to (or have the Gold to) play this RNG “game” all over again.
Sounds like a bug to me.

Sounds like a bug to me.
I really hope it is, and that this isn’t just yet another cruel joke for me this holiday season.
And this is why the obsessive thread merging is a problem… There used to be a nice thread about how you should NEVER put 4 tonics in the MF because it seems to give back the one you didn’t put in with a (allegedly, no proof I’ve seen) small chance of getting a Dolyak or Toymakers Tonic.
Unfortunately that information is now buried in this thread and not obvious until page 3 and then the “conversation” is scattered:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/wintersday/Endless-Wintersday-Tonics-Thread/page/3
But there used to be a thread called “PSA: Don’t put 4 tonics in the forge” or some such and another one that was also labelled something that might catch the attention of people considering this.
I’m sorry you are another victim of this stupid, stupid MF recipe. I only hope they make it possible to get more than one frame so those who are inclined can get the tonics again. Though I’d prefer they just change the recipe to give Endless Toymaker’s Tonic and find a way to compensate those affected by this.
heres proof that it does haev a chance.
Don’t gamble with items you’re not prepared to lose?
Seems pretty simple. If you’re unsure what the outcome is going to be, don’t toss them into the forge. Especially if you’re attempting something that is unknown or unconfirmed.
I uploaded the video; it’s in the first post.

And I never saw that thread before. I thought that the recipe would create one of those two special tonics, but I guess that I was wrong.
I was having a great time with the whole Wintersday event, so this has been an absolute letdown for me.
I hope that there’s some kind of compensation, or at least a way to obtain the Tonic that I would’ve wanted if I didn’t fuse them. However, I’m dreading the idea that this scenario was absolutely intentional… It leaves an awful feeling in my stomach. Yet no, this isn’t another ragequit thread. I’m not quitting GW2, even if I don’t agree with the way this event turned out.

Didn’t know that combining four only-attainable-once items would create only one that I started with?
Seems pretty simple. I’ve never seen this type of marketing tactic used in any game before. Serves me right, I guess.
10 tries and I walked away with 3 tonics total, meaning my overall success rate was around 30%. However, a friend of mine tried 10 times and got none. Seems like typical RNG to me.
I feel you buddy. I used griffon, toy soldier, golem and ventari tonics. I made a princess pet already, and now I got a princess tonic too.
Wth is this :l
Took like 10 attempts form me to get the griffin.
Figure if you throw 4 of these into the forge, the percentage chance to get the endless toy tonic (a 50g item) should be pretty hard. If it was higher then the cost for glue and stuffing would be 10x what it is now.
People are reporting they have gotten the tonic by tossing 4 of the other endless ones into the forge. Should be like 5% or something, which is fair. It’s a gamble, be prepared to lose, but hope to win.
If it isn’t a glitch for giving a silly tonic for 4 tonics, this is more like Gambledays instead of Wintersdays :s

You’ve got your cause/effect backwards. The price of the mats is determined by the supply and demand (currently demand is finite, supply isn’t). The price of created things is determined by the price of the mats used to create it (with any RNG factored it, worse odds spike prices and better odds drop prices).
So if everyone could use a mat which is plentiful and of limited use to produce their very own Endless Toymaker Tonic easily then less people would by them and/or the market would be flooded. End result, the price of Endless Toymaker Tonics crashes and stuffing and glue remains about where it is now and eventually crashes as well because no one needs it anymore but more is still entering the market.

This is true, and likewise these relatively cheap materials (or items) can result (rarely) in getting items that have significant value to them.
This could be either 50c glue/stuffing materials to craft endless X toy tonics to be forged for a chance to get a 50gold endless toy tonic, or 30s greatswords being tossed into the forge for a chance to get a 500 gold dusk.
No one is being forced to toss greatswords or their endless X toy tonics into the forge for a chance at the BIG win, these are risks behalf of the person doing to the gambling. People should not be risking more than they can afford to lose.
People need to figure out what they can or can’t afford to lose. If you can’t afford to lose 30 gold on gambling, then just pony up the additional 10 gold and buy the tonic for 40.
5 Tries and get 3 Tonics, I must be the lucky guy.
But I lose courage to make 4th tonic after I known I was really lucky.

You were REALLY lucky.
33 tries and about 10 gold and I still don’t have an endless tonic.
this seems like it was meant to be an alternative reward… and this hole 1/3 seems to be more like 10% or less.
I really wish that they would just make it a guarantee that we get the endless. This process of paying 10+ gold is really unfair. Yes… this is a free event, but those who don’t like minis (they go back to the bank whenever you hit the “deposit all collectibles” and do nothing) and want a tonic instead really get screwed if they have bad luck. I spent 9 GP here and still only have 2 of them.
Please Areanet, Fix this!
Id really like to see a dev post on this. Seems like such a scummy thing to do, that is take 4 endless tonics and not give you the toymaker one FOR SURE. So Id like to see a dev say:
A: yes we are really sorry they is a bug and we certainly taking care of it
B: no sorry we are kittens merry christmas (I typed kittens)
