This is just my opinion on the wintersday event: It was fun at first, with Tixx visiting each city. The jumping puzzle is fantastic, even though I didnt get credit for it when I completed it the one time…it was teleporting people to LA. The music thing is pretty neat! The dungeon, while it changed a little bit each time, was largely the same. Still, it was fine. Once Tixx visited Lion’s Arch, unless I missed something, there has been absolutely nothing new. Same old stuff. Is there to be a finale? Even if there is a finale, and I hope it doesn’t bug out, the past 1+ weeks has been straight up mundane and boring.

The weapon skins, while “festive” are even kind of lame for being festive. Could have done a little better with those.

I started out really enjoying the event, but a day or two after Tixx was in LA, I kind of wished he’d go away…its been laggy ever since and theres no point in him hanging around longer than a day.

The event lasts so long only to give people a chance to enjoy it. Many people wouldn’t have a chance to play if it was shorter. With it being the holidays lots of people are out of town or busy or whatever.

Just move on and do other things. Whatever’s left is for people who missed the first run is all.

The event ended with Toypocalypse. That was the finale. The only reason it’s lasting so long is because this event is supposed to be very casual, giving everyone more than enough chances to participate.

When and where was the toypocalypse?
And what reward was given?

The Toypocolypse is still going on. It’s an instanced tower defense game (with doylaks instead of a tower) using the same map as the Tixx dungeon. As far as I know it rewards gifts and titles.

Speak to the Festive Lionguard in LA who is standing near Tixx to go. You’ll be put into a random team of 5.

As for the Wintersday event in general I’m really glad they did it this way. If they’d taken the same approach as with Halloween and the Lost Shores events I would have missed most or all of it because (like a lot of people) I was away visiting family over Christmas and I’m going to be away again over New Years. I only ever got to the GW1 finale once so this definately makes a very nice change.

Oh I agree it is definately good that it is spread out over a decent period of time. I just think that after you experience the dungeon, puzzle, music event once…it is very mundane and feels like it is lingering in LA. Maybe its that I feel that the event is lacking things to do other than the original events.

Well you don’t have to stick to doing the Wintersday activities for the entire time they’re available. Everything else in the game is still there, so if you’re bored you can go do something else and come back to them when you feel like it.

The event ended with Toypocalypse. That was the finale.[…]

I guess this is why I agree with the OPs sentiment.
To end the event in an instance with strangers feels very anticlimactic.
Even GW1, which was full of instancing, tended to hold its finalizes in public areas (like LA) with a flurry of activity.
And when you got your hat, you knew it was over.
