Guide to beating Toypocalypse very easily.

I would like to note that this method is very pug friendly, as it really takes just one person doing this to win the match. Most pugs join in after they see how it works, and how simple it is.
There is no complicated anti pug method of ‘not killing something’, or ‘kiting something into a corner’. Just spam snowmen and catapults and watch everything die, including toxx.

Walls are the best if you know how to actually use them.
Only if you put one of them on each of the spawn points.
Also walls arnt pug friendly.

+1 to this
just build catas and snowmen…anywhere and everywhere..
tried and tested no dolyak deaths
My best method is to build 3 “fortresses” that contain 3x catapults, 2x ballista, 3x snowmen, and 3-5 walls. They’re at the north, south, and west sides. They destroy all mobs rather quickly, can target each other’s sections if they get over run, and distract mobs away from the yaks.
yep, Catapults and Snowmen. we had them all over the place and only a few got through to hit some of the dolyaks. We placed them around the spawn area 2nd, first we put them all over the ring. It went really well toys dropped fast. Just keep building and don’t ever stop. upgraded the ring first and then the outer ones. unless i was to far away then I just made what I could. I think we had 3 Skrit Mercs up also lol.
@Draygo That definetly works!
Did it at the 1st attemp

Thank you, making sure this gets up there so more people can see it and grab the achievement.

This is what I do. I don’t waste time hauling stuff around the map, instead I build more stuff.
I think it’s good to have one person doing walls though.
lol, somebody was mad at me for building snowmen to defend my catapult nests (very important!) and when he asked why I build them, I said they were cute. He stopped playing in protest but we won anyway. This strategy is the best!
Ballista and snowmen are as important as the rest, saying they aren’t is wrong, if you know how to use them. Walls make life easier..
Considering i got Top Player Achievement first go i’d say all the items are important.
East side is super easy to defend.
You can stack two layers of walls each four walls wide very quickly between the circle toy transfer things. Why two walls thick? Because later in the game things start to despawn if they’re ignored, and once a wall is fully upgraded you can’t nurse it anymore. Having two walls ensures that at least some of the walls will be up at all times to block waves.
After that just use any scrap you find to throw down catapults and ballistas all over the map, and build some snowmen/walls around the spawn to help funnel things into your catapult fire.
I was able to do this by myself and neither of the two east yaks took damage. I’m sure that a combination of 3 people fortifying walls and the rest littering the field with siege would result in a 100% success rate.

OP is right this works ridiculously easy, just did it with a group, I started building everything and reminded them a few times in chat to build nothing but snowmen and catapaults everywhere and upgrade them when possible and use candy cane 3 on Toxx to knock her back. Everyone picked up on it after the first round and by round 4 we had the place freaking littered in catapaults and snowmen, waves were dying almost instantly as they spawned from all the catapault spam.
The catapaults have ridiculous range and AoE radius, once you have a field of them the waves are a joke and no threat, which is why OP says walls are pointless. If you set this up from the get-go nothing will even get close to the dolyaks.
This is probably the best way to go when getting this achievement! I tried it in a new game and won on the first try. I highly recommend this strategy for anyone having a hard time with this beforehand. I was really the only one running around placing stuff on the map while everyone else focused on the middle. worked like a charm! Thanks for the strategy Draygo!
i kind of feel like this is how anet intended it to be done. ill have to try it out.
Thanks all, keep this up there. I am aware they made the achievement much easier now that you only need 1 dolyak to survive, so with the things listed in the op its a 100% sure fire win if you just spam that siege everywhere.

Team was losing, 3 dolyaks down by round 2. Then I just started planting turrets as fast as I could, a couple other team members started doing same, had the whole map under control and won round 10 with the 2 surviving dolyaks healed up to full.
This works extremely well. I don’t even upgrade anything – I just place more and keep going around the arena. I dodge the waves as much as possible in order to let the snowmen/catapults take everything out.
Why are they so good? Because they have a huge range plus a wide damage radius on impact. And while I haven’t measured it, it looks like you’d rather have 2 level 1 snowmen than 1 level 2 snowmen in terms of raw damage output.
you would, but upgrading serves to refresh the HP of the siege.
Whats better: 1 almost dead snowman and 1 full health one or one full health upgraded one?
I think the latter is better.
It doesnt really matter, because as long as you are smashing things and using the materials as fast as you can, you practically cant lose.

Thank you for this awesome strat! After getting tired of failing within the first 4 rounds in a few pubs, I tried this out and it worked perfectly. Managed to beat it in the first try with 3 dolyaks still alive (2 of them died during the first round)=D
You’re right – it is extremely pub friendly. I didn’t even tell anyone about what i was doing, and one of my teammates noticed what i was doing and started spamming them, too. Some of my teammates were kittening about us wasting scraps/snow, but after a couple of rounds passed by, they stopped. =P
I can see why this strat works so well. Mobs get distracted by all of the targets littered across the map, so they stay away from the dolyaks in the middle, while getting hammered by AoE catapults from every direction. On top of that, you don’t waste time hauling siege to the middle, so you can maximize the output of available siege weapons, while trees/buildings respawn.
Keepin this up there.

This method is by far the most efficient to use in toypocalipse.
The fun thing about it is that many people don’t bother to check for the most efficient method, I even had a guy calling me “noob” for using it instead of stopping and realizing we had five dolyaks alive at full health with three of us on the map and him doing nothing except running after me and complaining I was using the wrong tactics and the third one doing the same thing I did.

Thanks Draygo! Finally I got the achievement (so easily I can’t believe it) and I feel I have to thank you for writing this guide here in the forums.
I was a bit skeptical but I decided to try with your suggestion cause I was feeling frustrating by toypocalipse and the teams I was playing with.
I managed to enter in the same team with my boyfriend (just sincroing when we pressed the button to enter toypocalipse) and we both put snowmans and catapults on opposite sides. Other 2 players started to follow this method… The fifth player put walls in the middle but the toys NEVER reached the dolyaks: they just exploded as they spawned, and it was fun!
We ended with 5 dolyaks alive with full bar! Amazing!

Although I am certain this works well, I wanna say walls can be helpful.
Best team I got on we had walls up around the dolyaks at all times and we made both ballista and catapults on the outer circle while also fighting some of the toys. Guildie of mine also got his achievement that way with his team. It is easy too really… as long as at least some of the team does it.
Non of the stuff you can build is worthless… just depends on how it is used and perhaps on the team.
Here are my tips:
If a dolyak is low on health, look around for bundles of hay, and feed them to the dolyak to restore his health.
Spread out the snowmen that you build from snow, and place them around the outer perimeter of the central square, but not outside it. Enemies will wander around the central square, looking for a way up, and get pelted by your rows of snowmen as they search for a way up.
If a snowman is low on health, upgrade it, which restores their health right away.
If there are enough snowmen, upgrade any that haven’t been upgraded yet.
Constantly destroy buildings, and run the supplies to your base. Just keep doing this constantly.
It is better to be building or upgrading, then to be fighting.
Keep a look out for dropped presents that appear between waves.
Walls are not entirely useless. You can use two of them to block off the smaller access roads entirely. But building snowmen should have priority.

i agree hay wins the fight and only attack those that get thru to the dolyaks none others...
Tis only what you can do for all
let us hope they do not nerf catapults haha.
although I wish you could opt for more difficult, larger waves. This gamemode is fun and has tons of potential!
also, good guide mr OP!
I wanted to drop in this thread to also support the OP’s guide. I tried this just the other day, and it worked beautifully. Although I did notice Toxx ignoring the snowmen / catapults at times, it didn’t make that much of a difference.
I would suggest this strategy to anyone needing this event completed. Great advice, and thanks very much for sharing.
