Day one I went twice. First time for the reward and second time to find there are only boxes I can easily get in world.
Day two I went once. No intention to go again.
Total so far 3. Total expected 6 or 7 unless they give rewards worth having which I doubt.

My thought when starting this thread was that Anet should know if we don’t intend to bother repeating. I know they can easily see how many repeat without the Forum but here we can say why. People seem to be saying exactly that but this thread might be easier for them to read rather than the comments getting lost in other threads.

About the same (4 times total – 3 yesterday 1 today), unlike the mad king “dungeon” these are simply not worth doing over and over due to the very harsh DR that kicks in after 1 run.
Basically after 1 run the reward is not worth the time it takes to do the event chain, i can get the reward from the chest by opening 1 world present box.
You only get reward once a day.
You only get reward once a day.
If I get more mini mats by repeating in Lions Arch then I will but so far we have been told we will not. If those mats in giftboxes I might grind a bit though. So far they say we will not.
none, not gonna waste my time on subpar/no rewards, DR is the worst decision Anet has made thus far. They claim to have made great progress against the bots, but still destroy the real player base’s incomes just because.
I mostly agree that it is not worth repeating … except I got an exotic on my second run. :p
Seems like an easy way to get a “big chest”.
None – unless I’m helping out someone who hasn’t run it yet. Otherwise it’s not worth it.
Then just don‘t repeat it. Aren’t there too many people complaining too many grinding?
I just hope the instance should be a little bit longer if it is for doing once.
So you people want to grind Tixx?
And do you really think that’s going to happen? Tixx has clearly been meant to be done once per day for five days – that’s how ArenaNet describes it. Which clearly shows how the idea is for players to experiment new content once, not grind it over and over. Even without the grinders, people are having no issues finding groups for it. And doing such easy content over and over within a single day is more a sign of lack of life than of being able to overcome huge challenges.
TL;DR: grind is bad. Read my signature. It’s a good thing that ArenaNet remembered it this time.
i didn’t do it . Can you tell me what the reward is ?
tnx
I like the fact that you only have to do it once- it is fun, short and a nicely done.
I can check it out and get on with whatever else I feel like doing

running once each day should be enough to make your favourite mini (or actually two of them, as has been stated). but it should be possible to ‘grind’ it to create all of them. and for a run that takes 5-10 minutes, I don’t really think 3 runs a day (under half an hour) already count as grind.
you may find the lack of challange so bad that you don’t want anyone have fun in the instance, but I actually like it. its fun and if the loot were respectable (say 5 large gifts each run + either 50 wintersday toy mats of choice or 25 cogs) I’d certainly do a few runs each day. then I’d probably be able to make 3 minis instead of 2, but I wouldn’t go for more as that would be to grindy for my taste. I do grind the bell choir and the jumping puzzle – because I have fun doing them (and I just want 600 score in middle/upper).
there is a pretty huge difference in not forcing players to grind (which is good – but doesn’t happen for the most basic stuff like exotic armor, not even talking about ascended) and allowing players to grind fun content they like and still let them have rewards instead of forcing them to move on (probably to orr, at least you get usable loot there for a while. and it’s SO MUCH FUN being pulled, knocked down, stunned, rooted etc all the time)
i didn’t do it . Can you tell me what the reward is ?

1st run/day you get stuff to make some minis + big chest (with the usual blue drops 99% oftimes)
2nd+ run you get a choice of presents + bigh chest
As for grinding, this dungeon is so easy (even soloable) that it would hurt whatever is left of economy in this game if we would be able to get “awesome” loot every 30 mins, don’t ya think?
what I noticed:
2. run: 5 small, 3 medium, 2 large or 1 giant gift
3. run: 3 small, 2 medium, 1 large or 1 giant gift
4. run: 1 small, 1 medium, 1 large or 1 giant gift
didn’t try any further – jp and choir have a better ppm (presents per minute) ratio =)
A quick thing on grinding the instance. No different to repeating any dungeon such as AC.
Went 3 times the first day, thought there might be a random chance to get cogs and stuff… Nop not so.
Just logged in now to do it once today.
I think they screwed the pooch on this one, content that’s unnecessary to repeat is, well unnecessary. Now the little music “Guild Wars hero” and the snowball pvp game amazing
I got sprockets (3/4) and 3 clothing items from the big chest on the first run of each of two separate accounts today. I did multiple ones the first day, which netted me an exotic pistol, worth 75s (2nd run of primary account)
What was with today’s drop? I didn’t even bother with account 3. Instead, I crafted 72-80 the for about $1/level. Not bad. So far, I find the best way to advance in the game is to craft…. which is the least social thing I believe one can do in this game!
Tixx was designed to be completed once per day, you can do it very fast & easily and you get two nice miniatures if you complete it five times. I don’t understand why you people want to grind.
I was only 3 times on Tixx. First time when event started, then one more again and when i learned what reward i get after second try i finished. Some gifts and some trash is really not appropriate reward for repeating dungeon. Same with jumping puzzles. You go first time, you got some bad reward and when you go second time you got some trash.
My opinion is that Wintersday is 100x weaker than Halloween was. Halloween was great. Jumping puzzles was real challenge and rewards on the top was great. Wintersday puzzles seems to be designed for 5-6 years old players and reward is bad – find some vistas on normal maps was much harder than finish wintersday JP. Mad King dungeon was fantastic with great rewards and no trash drop after you done dungeon second time like we see here on Tixx dungeon.
Wintersday are good if player wants relax but not for challenge-based players.

Yep jp is so easy and gifts are way easier than grinding tixx. Although I did do it one more time just for the achievement.

quoted because it’s exactly what I was going to write. ‘Reward’ has to be the most overused word in MMOs these days.
Hmm. Well, I find it a fun little instance and it is nice to meet new people. Also, I find it the easiest way to get Giant Gifts. I am collecting sweaters to buy holiday items. I was saving to get the recipies, but I got them from the gifts already, so now I plan to buy some other stuff.
Not that I run around Tixx all the time. Did the first one five times and the second thrice. If it starts to feel like grinding, I stop.
Ok, every night i go with party do new Tixx dungeon, after 10-15 minutes we are done and its all? Im disappointed when i look back on Halloween or Lost Shores events. During Halloween there was real challenge JP, great rewards and repeatable dungeon with still good rewards. Lost shores was good for final rewards and what now? The easiest JP i have ever seen, minimum or trash rewards only mini-pets material. Its all? Really?
Can you get the first reward if you run it on different characters ?

The final event Toypocalypse will be in Lion’s Arch. Compare and complain about Wintersday after that is done. Personally, I hope they are not going overboard like with the Karka Event this time.

You can’t as it’s per account, it does however reset everyday so you can do it again if you want.
And regarding the topic of this thread, nothing in-game is ‘farm-worthy’, I do it a few times whenever I feel to for fun, just as I keep doing the bell choir and the snowball mayhem and the puzzle.
The fact that the event is well made and therefore enticing for players to return for fun is good enough in my opinion, enhancing the rewards to make certain tasks ‘farm-worthy’ only means that it will have people do the same things 1k+ times and therefore becoming a chore.
It was precisely like that in gw1 and I didn’t really warm up to it, wintersday for me was 1-2 weeks running the same instance for hours on hours for the 0,001 chance to get the extra rare polar bear mini and the event’s currency.
The rewards in the grove dungeon did not even seem to reset at midnight GMT, which is a pity. So once Tixx arrives in LA there is no real point in doing the dungeon if you have done each version once already. This will be a long holiday. :o
It would be nice if rewards (cogs etc.) reset at least once a day.
a point to bring up, is that if they made cogs grindable, nobody would spend gems to get the toys because they would grind them all in no time at all. Anet gotta eat too!
You may agree or disagree with this decision, but considering it’s a business afterall, it’s a sound decision from their perspective.
Three times the first one to get the achievement (didn’t realize at the time that it would be the same map each day).
Two time the second one to farm some extra toys for the monthly; now that’s complete so it’ll be one run only for the three remaining days. And however many runs it takes of Toypocalypse to survive the 50 waves needed for the achievement.

Sure but they already added a set of mini’s you can get in the Gem Store by buying those Wintersday Mystery Boxes. I think they should have just let us craft all 5 or that they should have only added 2. Now fully participating in the event still leaves you with less than half a collection.
And we don’t really need two seperate sets of mini’s in the Gem Store for just one event, a bit overkill imo.
Regards
I Must be weird. I actually enjoyed it. I ran 3 times the first day, and 4 times on day two. Mostly to help fill random groups.
That said, I would like to be able to earn more cogs somehow.

you will get more cogs than you need by the end of event so dont worry.
Based on my understanding of a previous Dev post, I’ll only have enough Cogs to make 2 Minis.
I think they know people will only do it once or twice,as it is intented, its not meant to be played over and over again, hence the decreased reward.
I ran The Grove twice and so far Divinity’s Reach once. I might go DR again later if I can be bothered, but I’m only doing them for the achievements and mats for the toys.
grove 2x : 1st time got 2 greenies from chest. 2nd time got socks. divinity’s 2 x and got socks from chest both times. I did it to help friends and it’s a funny, fun map!
2 grove and 3 divinity. All of them yesterday. Now that I have the ‘stomp’ achievement completed (thanks again for the helpful hints on the forum and everyone who helped me in the game), I’ll probably just do 1 at each city for the time being. I might do 1-2 each day after it gets to LA, we’ll see.
I don’t like dungeons as a general rule, but this is rather fun and plays more like a DE chain you happen to be at with only 5 people.
Many MMO players struggle with the concept of only doing things once. It’s a sad mentality that’s been drilled into them by WoW and WoW-clones.
Did the first day twice, just to see if it changed. It did not.
Did the second day once.
I do not grind or farm. I don’t find grinding fun. Games should be fun. That is why they are games, and not work.
Sometimes you just have to pick the things that you really want off of your Christmas list (i.e. 2 of 5 minis). Sadly, it seems that there are plenty of spoiled folks who cannot live with this system. Kicking and screaming “I want everything” rarely makes Santa/Tixx want to bring more pressies.
I thought you can get all five by buying extra mats off the TP? I only plan on making one mini then what’s left will be up for sale (or up for grabs if anyone wants to trade me anything for it).

Thats the problem with most people, they want Everything and they want it Now,and they want it for Free and if they dont, they start screaming and kicking.

I do not want everything now or free. I do, however, want something spiffy every now and then. By spiffy I mean I go “Wow!” when I get an unidentified dye. I am not, however, satisfied or even happy when I come close to dying in battle and get a “brittle bone”.
The chest has nothing good the first time around.
Why bother doing all of that to open it again just to get more worthless level 1 blue crap?
I’m also getting level 1 blue crap in WvW.
I wonder if they messed up something and the scaling system went bananas or something.
3 times in The Grove and 1 time in Divinity’s Reach
Number 2 and 3 in The Grove I got some presents for the reward and just a few of the wool items from the chest.
In DR when I did my first run I got the 100 Cogs, Doll Frame and choice of Stuffing or Glue again but the chest gave me one sock. After that I am just not going to do Tixx more than once per town. Now I would certainly do Tixx if the reward was 10 Cogs per additional run or even if Cogs were something that would drop from the gift boxes. As it is there is no incentive to run Tixx more than once.
