I think Mobs in presents are way overpowered
The dolls are EVIL! I usually use Rampage as One so I wouldnt get knocked down. If I see dolls, I pick up and run out of there. Golems are problematic but nothing good kting and dodging can’t solve. Everything else, I stand and kill.
Last night I actually laughed my butt off when I got downed and almost dead when level 11 Dolls in less than 2 seconds.
Stephen King fulfilled his medical marijuana prescription and went to work for the GW2 development team. The Princess Dolls are the stuff of pot-induced nightmares.
Someone on the design team is laughing their kitten off at these threads and the frustrations of gamers. All this hell for an ugly sweater. Right.
There was some talk after the video preview was released about how it had a Burton-ish feel to it…
Like the Karka and the Orrians, they are a collection of all the things that make combat against any enemy slow and boring.
Homing projectiles that hit you even if you dodge, Vulcan machine gun CCs, too high health pools, too much armor, effects and projectiles that bypass protections of all sorts, condition and boon spam, condition removal spam.
It’s like:
“Kids, here are the tools you can use to play the game.
And here are the monsters, against which these tools will not work.
Have fun!”Seriously…
I found myself wondering after the dolls were unveiled if ANet was using the event to demonstrate the power of boons and conditions to various parts of the community.
Quite honestly for the low amount of rewards the gift boxes seem to give, the mobs are way too strong. I try to give any content the benefit of the doubt, but in the end, the world content is not fun and its extremely frustrating. All previous events seemed more balanced and reasonable. The best I can do at the moment is pop the box, grab the gifts and run. But quite honestly I am not even sure that its worth it to do even that.
The content that can be access out of LA I have enjoyed, but the world stuff…not at all.
*Edit: I will make the clarification that I am trying to level a newish character and seeing these issues. When I bring my 80 in, she has no problem, but as others have mentioned, when you have a newbie (in this case, a level 12 thief) who does not have access to all of the end level skills, it is a frustrating experience. And god forbid I get the golems from a box… insta-dead, I may be lucky to grab the gifts before I die.
