Hello everyone.

Just moments ago, i’ve tried searching the Wintersday’s pages, but couldn’t find this specific topic, therefore making this one.
Well to be honest, i was oddly shocked to NOT see anyone worried about this, but at least curious i am.

The question is pretty simple: Why wasn’t created a Greatsword/Shield/Pistol Skin?(Ingame content, not gemstore). I just can’t find a logic reason to do the rest of the weapons and not those.

Please someone enlight me.

How about the Torch? Or Axe? They’re not there either. Nor is the Longbow. In fact, the following items don’t have a skin:
Axe, Mace, Pistol. Shield, Torch, Warhorn, Hammer, Longbow, Spear, Harpoon Gun, Trident.

Because these are the most popular ones so they are trying to push you to the Gemstore, C’mon guys, i thought this was common knowledge.

Gw2 revolves around spending in game cash for things such as this, luckily, i can live without and enjoy the game for what it is

I would push myself towards the gemstore IF the skins itself were at least decent…

The hammer has a skin. The Candy Cane one. I did not count with trident’s or Harpoon Gun, because most are used underwater, wich rarely get’s any use. But i guess you’re right also. Many don’t have skins, wich is sad..

The skins aren’t bad IMO, yeah they have a xmas feel – thats the whole point, if you were expecting something in the league of the Great Saw then it was never going to come – this is Christmas after all!

They all come with cool frosty particle effects too – shame about the excrement coloureed wood though :/

I even think of the Great Saw has quite ugly to be honest. But i wish that the skins would have more design. It just looks like huge blocks of wood with some effects. The only one original enough to buy(wich i did) was the slingshot.

Yeah totally agree, i think that the Slingshot is by far the best in game skin.

I got the bow from the gemstore but got it with a rare weapon claim ticket from a box, so all in all i was happy – just transmuted it to one of my secondary bows so will use it when the feeling takes me.

Also agree with you that the great saw is just plain awful – dont know why so many people like it – And Arachnophobia, dont even get me started on that cereal box toy.

It’s not excrement, it’s chocolate colored. Now, why would anyone want to be seen in a battle with a frosty chocolate weapon is beyond me, but as they say, de gustibus non est disputandum.

Well maybe i need to update my GFX then because mine certainly resembles excrement.

Well it’s people’s own opinion so. We can’t really argue with it. But yes, IMO the Great Saw isn’t just my style, nor i find it even decent. But yes, i guess BOTH christmas skins could have been made with a lil more “heart” to it.

Man, I love the gemstore staff and the princess wand

I understand that being unable to skin your weapon with something festive (without resorting to gem shop) is disappointing, I use longbow. But I think it’s a little presumptuous to say that the reason certain weapons were left out was because ANet wants to push us to the gem shop.

I think about it this way: during the Mad King event the greatsword got the chainsaw skin, while other weapons seemed to have little attention given to them, or none at all. Many people complained that this was clearly playing favorites to the greatsword users. Now, the greatsword has been left out and other weapons have their chance to shine (Princess wand, anyone?). Maybe there are too many weapons in the game for ANet to do full sets of themed skins for every event, so they’re giving us what we asked for, and paying attention to all of the weapons in turn.

Can you imagine the uproar if there was a greatsword available at the gift exchanger and, once again, it totally outshone the rest?

Then again, the uproar would probably seem about normal, since no matter what ANet does to appease/compromise/add free content, some people treat it like the end of the world.

There’s no torch in the gemshop or in game exchange

Maybe they aren’t in-game skins because those weapons were pushed during the last two events while other weapons haven’t been.

The Princess Wand skin for the scepter is perfect. I’m having a blast with it on my ele.

Now we just need pretty princess armor, and Zhaitan can be defeated by cuteness alone!

Princess wand? I don’t own a female character nor do i intend to do one. As i’ve mentioned before the most original skin that stands is the slingshot imo. Yeah if i had a girl character i’d prolly get the sceptre or something like that, but it just isn’t my style.

I am so giving light cultural T2 and the princess wand to my male sylvari. It would be a crime not to.

I don’t think the princess wand is just for female characters. I bought it for my male charr guardian. I think it’s awesome.

doesn’t explain why they don’t even have skins for many of the items in the gem store even. Weird. I thought they might have a large white candle for my torch but I didn’t see one oh well.
