I dont know why but i have a feeling that i wont be out today

well the halloween update didnt go live til really late. i would expect this around 10PM server time. if you want to know server time, just go to options in gw2 and set the clock on your mini map to server time. best way to handle this is to not expect it to come until tomorrow. you cant be disappointed that way.

They should make a count down timer on the wintersday page or any future event for that matter. Like 10 hours till winters day event starts or something. Would make this a lot easier.

but here’s the problem with that — setting a time sets an expectation. They’ve said previously that this part of the event is preceding the others in case they have troubles. If they suddenly realize while prepping to patch the server that the line of code that is supposed to give all the NPCs Jolly Red Hats interacts badly with this other bit of code over here, and instead displays all NPCs as naked, they might need to spend a few minutes extra patching that up before they can activate the live code.

And if they’ve said a certain time, people will get grumpy when that time hasn’t been met… whereas, if you leave the ‘when’ ambiguous, any delays won’t be seen, and it’ll be a happy surprise when it does happen <3 As long as it’s not too late, anyway.

I’d guess though, they’re probably aiming somewhere around 12PST.

And once again it will release in the middle of the night for EU so when we wake up all the possible exploits that generate money will be hotfixed.

I’m not mad or frustrated, just confused. Maybe someone at Anet can tell us what happens when something like this is launched? I think the confusion is, how can you not know when your doing something like this?

Really? a lack of respect? Look: The first events being activated are the events that’ll be active until early January. those won’t change. They’re not even starting the TIMED events until TOMORROW in case things go wrong today.

I’m prepared to log in. my guild is as ready as we can possibly be. After all, we know there are events happening, we’ve set up meeting times in several hours. crafting? we’ll figure that out when the patch hits. None of us are EU, but no matter what time, someone is going to be waiting “all night” or “all day” with the looming deadline of having to go to work (my buddy is having to go to work around 1pst and won’t be back until 12+ hours later.), or to to bed, or school (hey how about all of these people who are in school, or at work right now?) …. there IS no “one time LOG IN NOW OMG” event like the last two events. Log in when you log in. Be happy, Get some sleep and relax. Wintersday will be here when you get back.

They will likely release the patch at the normal patch time which is 5pm (PST) or 8pm (EST). That is what tends to happen. It would alot better for the community to have a rough time table like between 10am-noon (PST) or something to that order to not keep people waiting in anticipation but that would make too much sense. I am betting there will be a YOUTUBE video up here within 15 mins of the patch showing the jump puzzle just because people want to be first.

I’m a french player and I was hoping to be able to be there for the launch of this event but we don’t even know when it’ll start. I’m not a random kid, I’m an adult and I work so I can’t stay up all night long.

So could we please get at least an estimation ? Few hours ? More ? I don’t want to spend my time waiting for nothing.

As someone said… why is everyone rushing and panicking about when it will go live? There is absolutely nothing that is happening that is “one time” or you must log on when it goes live to see. Wintersday will be waiting and for when you have the time to log on. ANet has never really given ETA’s because if something goes wrong or there’s something in the patch that needs fixing and causes a delay it saves a lot of grumbling about “well they said it was going live at insert time”.

A countdown would be lovely, but if they’re not willing to give us a start time in the first place, then what chance do we have for a countdown? :P

i can understand feeling some minor annoyance (especially for those pressed for time), but a lot of people need to seriously calm down.

the patch is late. not ideal for us, but i’m sure arenanet doesn’t find this situation to be ideal either.

Halincandeza – The patch isn’t late, because there was never a scheduled time for the patch. They only ever stated the patch would come out today.

But its sometime today right now!

First event doesn’t start till tomorrow. So no, the patch is not late.

First event starts on the 15th at 10AM. The patch releases today on the 14th at whatever time they choose.

I’m pretty sure a quick message like … “everything is going as expected and the update will be up soon” or something alike (anything official) would suffice to calm a lot of people. o:

Just look at it like this. If it is anything like the Halloween Event, it won’t be up till midnight. Which will technically be tomorrow, so that means it will be late.

i think the main issue here is that people who aren’t -this- close to jumping out a window right now didn’t see the town clothes in the wintersday trailer.

Because then all people will come online at the same time and crash login server + lag entire game… I’m guessing they will delay patch few more hours and push it later tonight (after midnight euro time)

Not really, since the server is (PST) time zone it is still 11:50am there on the 14th. All the patches/events are advertised as respect to the server time zone. With this said, they are still within a decent time frame to release the content. Those they think well its the 15th here and you said the 14th need to realize the advertised time is based on a different time zone. I am sure you are just venting frustration but you are not the only one that uses that as a basis of argument.

The only people who are even remotely affected by missing the exact moment the patch goes live today are people who want to be the first on the scene to play the trading post and try and make a killing on whatever items spike or crash in price.

Everyone else could just ignore it until tomorrow when the first Tixx event actually happens which will happen on time. The patch is today to make sure tomorrow (when it matters) is on time.

Just because some people got it in their head that today was the day Wintersday starts and it starts at 10am PST doesn’t mean Anet is ‘late’. If you don’t want to wait all night, go to sleep and enjoy it tomorrow when the real events start.

We should be patient and wait for it too come. But i can admit it would be great to know certain what time aswell but i support they’re hard work and choose to wait, and let them finish up they’re work.

But back to topic: a rough timeframe would be nice. For example for players in the EU, it’s a matter of “do I wait a bit to start downloading the patch or can I go to bed because it won’t happen until late at night?”
