Undecided – None of the options fit. It’s not a matter of ease vs difficulty. It’s Cost and RNG that decide. Some may get all 4 minis after only 4 boxes, others none after a hundred.

Its obvious that they are just trying to recuperate their money from making the weapon skins not chance related anymore. I think making the minipets chance related is actually PLAYER-UNFRIENDLY, yup thats right, i said it, customer UNFRIENDLY is what it is.

The Halloween skins were a pain to get, but they did the mini’s well I thought. Now the opposite is true. The skins are fairly easy to get, but the mini’s are based entirely on RNG. 1 step forward and 2 steps back imo.

PvE: Too Hard currently, since between myself and my brother we’ve never drawn a mini nor had a box drop – still plenty of time left though…
Purchase: Too Hard – I impulsively bought 2 sets of 10 and then 1 more after, and my results were exactly the same as a poster above; snowman, airship, nothing.
That the rest of the contents of course turned out to be of zero value (4 days in I’ve already more wool garments than I need) has only driven home to me that I was a sucker to ever chase RNG minis given the money spent vs Halloween’s set.

No, not for these ones – see aforementioned sap realization.
The boxes themselves are of dismayingly low standard, given the tonics have no redeeming features (e.g. forging into more boxes or special tonics) and the gifts are two-a-penny in game.
I do like that any 3 of the minis can be exchanged for the top-rarity (and top desirability) quaggan though, and of course the generous centrepiece build-a-bear minis.

Though probably only as a a trio plus another trio for reforging (Halloween style), as the snowman is adorable but the other 2 I’d only want to store away for completeness.
The quaggan I would have paid 350 gems for, the snowman maybe that much, the others would have to be 100 or less to even appeal to my completionist instinct.

Hard, probably a bit too hard. I haven’t gotten a single mini from a dropped gift box (the best I’ve pulled are a few recipes and a single Focus skin), and the Gem Store boxes are a non-starter because they are far far far too expensive.

No, not unless they up the drop rate significantly in the gift boxes. There should be packs where you can buy them explicitly, or perhaps even quests to earn each individually.

Crafting two is fun. They are cute. Easy to get. A fine addition to the game. I would not grind for one, but given the amount of time I do put into the game I should get my fair share. Having said that lol, the drop rate for me, to date from beta, is zero. Truly does not bother me.

The OP said this thread is about the mini Festive Golem, Snowman, Airship and Foostive. You can’t craft any of them, you have to buy an item from the gem store for a chance to have them drop or go for a much lower chance from an item in game.

1. Expensive: RNG on collectables is just crap.
(Atleast not on account bound ones, its like get them now or get them never.)

I was about to start a thread about the mini pets not being directly purchasable as a pack, a la Halloween, but for now we’ll see where this goes. I think, like most of you mini collectors out there, that Anet has gone too far in their attempt to exploit our desire for collectables and turn it into us gambling away way too much $$$ in an attempt to possibly maybe get a pet or two.

Anet: just make the trio purchasable. You will still have guaranteed sales of the pack, probably two of them, because people will buy the pack and MF to Foostivo and then buy the pack again. Benefit to you? We won’t hate you for trying rob us via Wintersday Mystery Boxes.

While I didn’t think it was hard to find the mystery presents, I did think it was nerve wracking to actually obtain the minis (both in game and from gem store).

I found, however, that it seemed like for every 10 chess I purchased I seemed to get at least 1 minipet. I would have appreciated the odds to be more generous, especially considering you needed additional minis to get the Foostive Quaggan.

Sure.
I didn’t realize you could get them through the mystery boxes until after I had collected them all via the gem store. I think it was a good move to make it so you could get them both in game or from gem store. Once again if the odds were a little more in the players favor I’d have been a happier camper. It would have been pretty awesome if we could have gotten them in the regular present boxes or from gift exchange venders. I would have really loved it if I could have just purchased them in a 3 pack like I did with the Halloween minis.

I’ve purchased quite a few. I bought enough to get a set of each mini and the required extras to make the Foostive Quaggan.

I will start by stating that I, generally, do not care about mini-pets in GW (either 1 or 2). Not sure why, as I did in other games.

That being said, here’s my answers.

1 – Hard. From gifts – never saw one in around 800 (total guess) opened. Did get an Infiniarium from the gem boxes. I’d rate this as, overall, hard. Too hard from gifts, but about right from gem boxes, so hard is a compromise.

2 – Undecided. As I stated above, I don’t really care much about mini’s in GW.

3 – Yes. I mis-read the price on the 10 pack (due to having my UI scaled down), otherwise the answer would have been no. I won’t be buying anymore, though.

4 – No.
