Mad King event was lot more fun
You are not the only one who thinks this. But I have to admit the scenery is wonderful in LA. I would however say that I enjoyed the events in GW1 better.
Mad King >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Tixx
Winter Wonderland jumping puzzle, Snowball Mayhem PvP minigame, Toypocalypse and Bell Choir were giant improvements over the mad king’s events. Granted the lore to the mad king was better but I think it was a giant step in the right direction other than the redundant Tixx missions. It is to bad they didn’t have a scavenger hunt like the mad kings to get some of the lore about wintersday out in the open.

I’ve gotta agree with the op the Mad king was better, the clock tower was better than winter wonderland, both of the pvp events were better than the bell choir or snowball fight (and the snowball arena was my favorite pvp of all of gw1’s) and the labyrinth and mini dungeon were vastly superior to infinitarium and toypocalypse.
I also think the rewards were better for mad king but I find mini pets to bet a total waste of system resources and dev time since all they do is use more hardware to render an object that does nothing but some people seem to love em so I guess they are fine. All that being said wintersday isn’t a bad event in its own right, its just nowhere near the awsome that was Mad King.
Fun is a subjective thing. I loved the Mad King events, but I found a lot to love during Wintersday too, so I wouldn’t say that one is more fun than the other.
I loved the Mad King’s PvP event better than the snowball fight in Wintersday. But, I think the jumping puzzle in the snowglobe is far, far better than the clock tower. The Mad King dungeon was fun, but the Wintersday dungeons/events were interesting and involved more than just killing things.
So, I’m sorry you didn’t like it as much. But, some of us are having fun.
The Mad King event was probably the best event I’ve seen in an MMO. I don’t think the Tixx event was “bad”, simply “average”.
It’s going to take one hell of an event to outdo Mad King.
I agree, the Mad King event was more fun. For me, I found the NPCs in Wintersday and the Lost Shores too OP. I can’t solo the stuff in Wintersday, there is no auto-party function like in the Mad King.
I still confused here, got many frames, few glue and nothing else to make toys…
I guess we just need to trash frames as we’ll never get enough mats to make more then 2 mini.
Ah well, but sadly this junk was only reward for like 3 more dungeon runs…
I agree.
I liked Winter’s day…. but I really liked Haloween alot. What was missing for me was the large events. Zerging around that maze killing monsters non stop was a blast and very rewarding.
Almost everything added to the game lately has been for 5 man groups. In my opinion 20+ people attacking giant monsters and hordes of creatures is what really makes the game feel epic.
When are people going to figure out there’s a war going on?

They couldn’t do a scavenger hunt for Wintersday because they pretty much completely disregarded their previous Wintersday lore. It used to be a battle between the human gods Dwayna and Grenth to see if spring would come or winter would continue. I guess they didn’t want the other races to feel left out, because aside from a small mention by one of the human festival goers, they didn’t incorporate any of that. It’s the secular version of Wintersday, no lore required. :pp
I kind of enjoyed the Mad king event more too, but I’m still having fun. I’m also glad we don’t have to rely on the cash shop for weapon skins and such. I consider that a vast improvement.
Next mylittle pony event.

Yup Mad King gets my vote too.
I loved mad kings and I love wintersday. Each one was great fun. Some things were better for wintersday, some worse. As for “bohoo, no exotics”. You shouldn’t expect exotics on a seasonal event. Mad kings was a bit over the top on exotics i’d say. Especially the labyrinth pre-nerf. Skins were also harder to aquire than wintersday although cooler looking.
Also, toypocalypse ftw!
