Nearly 4 hours trying the JP ... failed
I’m with you. I’ve made it to the snowball thing once, presents twice, and they disappear from under me too.
Plus the lag and lack of visibility at the start because of the horde … you really need to try these things with real internet lag + hordes before bestowing them upon us.
are u kidding me the jp was easy
I did it on my first try and I am far from “master jumper”. There are tons of gamers better than me. It took me around 30 minutes to complete the Mad King one, died several times there. Maybe you are doing something wrong, focusing on the wrong aspect of it. it is really not that hard. Keep trying and you will do it. And if not… well… maybe JP are just not for some people. Its normal. There are also things in some games which I simply cant do becouse its too hard for me. Should I whine about it? Why? Games are supposed to bring some challenge.
Whoever thought adding more players would help really needs to reconsider what they’re doing with their job.

I think a better word than “bestowing” would be “inflicting”.
I’m sorry, but if you can’t finish this puzzle after 4 hours… I don’t know. It really isn’t hard. Try a different route. probably like, 1/10th the difficulty of the clock tower.
Just one word:
Jajaja.
I’ve done this puzzle 9 times so far
It’s not that hard.

Cpu lag and “burst” movement is a killer at the start, go to jump, character burst forward, find yourself off the edge. Or goto jump, lag, jump falls short.
I beat it 2 tries. And the one time I failed was because my guildies were “OMG THIS EVENT!” in Ventrilo and distracted me lol.
Just be patient, watch a walk-through if you need to, but it is significantly easier than the Halloween one.

Hmm, i’m running on a really crap laptop and I finished it on my 10th or so try. This one is a lot easier than clocktower. Or maybe clocktower has honed our skills
Halloween all over again. No thanks. It’s a chore, not fun. I want to disable this information tab on the right side of the screen. I do not want to do this jumping “puzzle” reflex test or the verbal abuse PvP Arena. I like the less stressful winter activities in other mmo’s more, and, guess what, I’ll do them and stop playing GW2 during this time.
I think this puzzle is one of the easiest in the game. Did it on 3 characters in a row no problem. Took me 3 trys the first time, until I figured it out.

Less stressful = easier? I guess. But please. Stop asking developers to keep nerfing everything that doesnt just fold when we look at it. Its a plague of modern games. There are several things in various games which I cant complete becouse they are too hard for me. But I just keeo trying to improve and finally beat it or I walk away knowing that I am not good enough at this particular test (which really doesnt make me a “noob” or a “ret***” or whatever). Its not like GW2 is too hard for you to level up or get exotics gear. Its just an optonal jumping puzzle! A challange mode give or take.
The clocktower on the other hand made me want to punch myself in the eyesocket. 100+ tries until completion.

None of it is stressful unless you make it stressful. Play GW1 it’s a lot more casual and LOADS of fun (not being sarcastic either, I’m doing both GW1 and GW2 events this year)

I just thank God that ArenaNet has enough sense not to listen to every complaint and “nerf ____!” like Blizzard does.

I’d say four hours of trying is pretty patient. I also don’t think it is asking too much to want to complete holiday event things. I still haven’t gotten through the jumping puzzle myself.
After trying it a few times…. I think I may be able to get this one. It’s definitely easier than MKCT (which I just could not do) but still challenging enough for me to require some seroius practice
I’m not big on the timed part, but we do kinda need some sense of challenge to it. I bet I will fail many more times before I get it… but at least with this one, I feel like I CAN get it.
The JP is really easy I’ve done it about 15 times now, I only got to complete the halloween JP about 4 times.

You dont need to complete the JP to get the meta achievement. The rewards from JP are also insignificant. Take it as an optional challenge. You are not loosing anything if you fail it. And you have like 3 weeks to do it, not 3 hours. You will do it eventually. And if not, you will do it next year.
and again one shot by something, was on the presents jumping up to the end box …

Well. You are nearly there! In your OP you stated that “only master jumpers can complete”. So was that statement false or are you a master jumper after all?

Except when it comes to Witch Hats?

Only made it out of pure luck, haven’t made it anywhere close in the last 3 tries.

Not sure what you mean. Witch hats are free, Wizard hats are free as well. Go the the “Style” tab in the gem store and pick up a hat for 0 gems.

When I failed multiple times, I took that as sign that should analyze my mistakes and try to avoid them. For example, I often fell of the second ledge-part because I kept my camera behind my back instead of adjusting it sideways, which makes it easier to gauge the distance.
Perhaps that approach would help OP more than hoping for ANet nerfs.

My “mistakes” are being cause by cpu lag and catchup … nothing I can do about it when I suddenly burst foward, or jump short cause I hang in the air for a split second.
And yes I am using the latest mac book pro so cpu power is not an issue, and I have graphics settings at best performance.
I beat it in 2 tries. This is the easiest jumping puzzle. I was hoping to die a lot and try many times for hours. I was very disappointed.

They don’t have to make it easy, I don’t have to play it. And I don’t have to recommend the game to my friends, if I don’t like it. It’s a good game overall, but I still do not like those holiday activities. I don’t like them, I don’t play them. I play to relax, not to prove myself. That’s all I said.

I agree. The same arrogant, predictable tone that went on during the Clock Tower is alive and well in these threads. It’s disappointing to see that the designer(s) of this one didn’t really seem to learn much from their most recent try. The only differences I see are a slight easing on run speed and a snowball fight to fill in the time between tries. The rest of it is still not fun in my opinion.
Glad to hear that those who enjoy artificial difficulty are having the time of their lives, but to come in here and belittle the ones who are expressing their disappointment and offering suggestions to the design team is quite sad to see.
The regular jumping challenges in the game are mostly nice. But like the Clock Tower, this, in my view, is not.

I could see this being difficult if your PC/laptop sucks.
The thing that blows you off is the “wind gust” pay attention to your environment bro lol – and this JP is much easier than Halloween, you must either be bad at JP in general, or you are just too slow.
I could see this being difficult if you don’t have jump bound to any key on your keyboard.
You will be glad to know, I finally made it … and NEVER doing it again … it is enough to put you off jumping puzzles.

If your computer lags you, it’s not the difficulty of the puzzle that’s the problem…

made me laugh ^

I do my best.
I’ve done it twice, first time gave me achievement but not the chest because apparently I wasn’t quick enough. I would say it was fun and challenging but far from impossible.
I’ve been doing this jumping puzzle whilst listening to an all night livestream in the background since release:
Snowflakes: Just follow the winding path. Be careful of slightly sideways snowflakes and small jumps. Don’t try and make “leap of faiths” until you’re more comfortable with each path.
Peppermints: Hop from one to the next =)
Presents: I try and find a path that goes directly up, making detours as needed. If you find the presents are disappearing too fast for you to climb there may be a problem with how fast you’re clearing snowflakes.
???: Beware the wind from the snowman!!!
Snowballs: Dodge them with the peppermint landings on the left or right. Be careful of the red circles on the ground, they will slow and damage you. Also on the huge peppermint is another wind snowman.
Trail of Presents: Try and use the blue presents to climb. After about two jumps you should use the candy cane. Continue with blue presents to victory!!! =D
I hope this knowledge helps you or anyone else.

If you are having trouble with this JP there is not hope for you.
Its not hard AT ALL.
I can’t do it. I tried for 3 hours and I never got past the snowflake tiles. Had to quit the game before i throw my laptop to the wall. For those who think it’s easy, congratulations. I just don’t have the same hand to eye coordination you guys have. Must be nice to not suck at games.
I just love how those who can complete this puzzle think it’s a license to ridicule and belittle those who can’t.
I also love how ArenaNet makes content that’s not all-inclusive in a frigging holiday event.
Must be nice to not suck at games.
It is pretty nice considering it’s a major hobby, lol. Keep at it though and as odd as this sounds, take your time. You don’t need to be nearly as fast in this one as you did with Clocktower… honestly the most difficult part was the snowflakes, once you hit the hard candies it’s pretty simple.

OMG I hate the bell choir too. How did you know?
I failed the clocktower miserably, painfully, and often, but I was able to complete this one in about a half hour or less. It’s got more tricks to it, but is actually not nearly as challenging. Here are some tips:
I do nearly make it to the end but when I do either the presents disapear from under me, or I get one shot by something (have not worked out what).
With the presents, you can tell the ones that will vanish because they start shaking. Never jump on a shaking one. Sometimes all the ones between you and the goal are getting shaky, especially if you’re a bit too slow reaching that point, but keep trying. I only fell through once or twice, and I had a camera boggling Asura.
With the “random oneshot” did you go flying sideways off the candy cane? If so, that’s because there is a gust of wind at the top of it. I only got hit once, but I didn’t even know to look for it before that. Just time it out like in similar puzzles.
And with the snowballs, they can one-shot you too, so make sure to hop to one of the side objects and play it carefully. You can’t make two waypoints in one go, it’s suicide. Also avoid the red circles, they will chill you, which dooms you (or close to it).
you spend complaining about it on the forums, you’d be
done by now.”
took me a hour I posted it here https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/wintersday/Wintersday-Jumping-Puzzle-done/first#post1003137
My only suggestion is be calm and don’t think about it.

I do think this is easier than CT, and it was easy for me – probably because CT honed my skill, and probably because I have a much better graphics card now.
But easy is relative to your level of coordination/skill/lag/ping. Some people are running older machines, some have bad ping, some just have poor hand-eye coordination, some aren’t used to jumping. Playing the piano is easy for an experienced pianist and a nightmare for a beginner, but you don’t see an expert pianist making fun of a beginner for not being able to play an “easy” song.
I have a friend whose computer lags so badly that she can’t even see the JP – she goes in and the next thing she knows she’s back in the waiting room.
If it’s any comfort, JPs are (assuming your machine isn’t lagging) a matter of patience and practice. Practice steering your character with your mouse while you’re running, which is the most important thing. The faster you turn the camera the faster you’ll be on the next snowflake.
If it helps, what kept me sane in the 12 hours I spent trying CT was setting personal milestones – “I just want to get past the next platform”, “I just want to make the drop before the mist gets me”.
The clocktower on the other hand made me want to punch myself in the eyesocket. 100+ tries until completion.
I know that feel.
