So how is killing things Jolly?
Yes. Seriously it is a game not real life. Killing stuffs is part of this game. Would be pretty bad outside of gaming.
Pretty sure there are no killing in the jump puzzle. Thus far we don’t know what the event will be for each city. Toypocalypse sounds like killing… toys may happen.
So with Winterday’s event arriving let discuss the fundamentals of what we will be doing in the Event. Killing things to complete task.
So is killing things during winter event making things jolly for you and those little kids watching you kill the evil monsters?
Well, it would be a lot less jolly for the kids if you just let the monsters kill them, so…

lol. I approve of this reply.
Also, there are non-killing activities as well. The choir, jumping puzzle, and snowball fight are all unrelated to killing things (probably, though the snowball fight MIGHT involve killing I suppose). And the individual events at each city may or may not involve killing anything, they might be more activity-related events as opposed to just clearing enemies.
If you don’t like killing things, why don’t you spend the whole time doing the PvP snowball fight?
Guild Wars 2 tends to be relatively self-aware for the genre. I’m hoping they address the paradox humorously.
Vanquishing pixels into pixel dust, is not killing.

I think the question should be, how is murder and death not jolly?
Blackgate/Guardian
Ayy Lmao
What do you mean, “killing things”?
List of non-killing activities:
-Snowball fights.
-Jumping Puzzle.
-Music Bell Choir.
-Initial toy drops from Tixx.
The only thing that includes/requires killing from what’s been revealed is the Toypocalypse, which is just fixing a bunch of broken toys (by breaking them!).

Yes! Thank you. I was about to post this myself. Where will the killing be at? The only things I know that we’ll be fighting are the rampaging toys. Beating the snot out of angry toys doesn’t exactly fall into the category of murder, but I’m pretty sure it’s going to be insane amounts of fun.
I think the whole question is strange. The whole game is at a good part about killing “things” and the whole game is supposed to be fun and wants to provide joy. Well you can say that all of this a creepy concept but why did you buy and play this game then if you can’t get over this.
After all it’s still virtual things noone gets hurt. They just stand up again right after you killed them. (In some areas even to fast)^^

All the Norn girls and boys love death and destruction.

And ale. Musn’t forget the ale. Oh, and meat. Enough dolyak to make a Charr swoon.
You should go hang out with norns more.
Drunken norns to be precise.
There’s isn’t anything in the world more jolly than a half-naked drunken norn hunting in the middle of the Shiverpeaks on Wintersday season.

Wait, you mean the real world version isn’t “Slay Ride” after all? XD
Must be cultural differences. Here in nordic countries we celebrate holidays by bathing in the blood of our enemies.

I don’t know how they could make it better except give us clubs and seals, and make the blood shoot out candy instead.
I for one take a great amount of joy from the act of murder.
Doesn’t everyone giggle manically when they’re killing things – or is that just me?
John 1: 1-5, 9-14, 16-18
That´s just you.
I like it when they scream.
They’re not REALLY dead – just wait a little bit and they’re back up and posing as targets again. I’ve talked to a few and they actually like the whole ‘get killed, wait a while, get re-spawned’ thing – it gives them something to do instead of hanging around the house doing ‘honey-do’s’. So, if you think about it, you’re actually spreading some joy. That’s what Wintersday is all about, Charrlie Brownblade.
They just want a jolly good spanking. It’s the Wintersday Spank Inferno.

Yep. Blowin’ stuff up makes me very merry indeed.
As for little kids; mine aren’t so little anymore, but they too, know the joy of blowin’ stuff up. >^_~

This is true. Just ask my Engineer about that night she spent drinking with that Charr Warband…she still can’t remember a darned thing. >^_~
What exactly will we be killing in the upcoming event that no one has seen yet?
That aside, if the Centaur think they could invade and steal our toys in an act of psychological warfare they are mistaken. The price of freedom is to never let your guard down.
“Whose Charr is this?”- “Ted’s.”
“Who’s Ted?”- “Ted’s dead, baby. Ted’s dead.”
@ OP. Little kids should not be a factor… the game is rated “T” for a reason, if your kids do not meet the required age group and are playing Guild Wars 2, you may want to consider turning your self in to Child Services or the parents of the suspected children who are allowing their very young kids to play if you are that concerned about any damage to their minds.

^—- If talking about real life kids if not ignore that part——^
As for violence and merry, It’s quite nice to release the shopping rage and financial burdens on ones mind in real life by taking it out on a couple of pixels. There are other events in the update that are not violent that one can participate in. To be honest though its guild WARS…. o.O the wars portion definitely doesn’t mean meet under the mistletoe and kiss for 3-4 weeks.

Umm, I think the OP is referring to the fictional little kids in the game. “Your face is funny! All squished and weird…”
And after Halloween and the karka invasion, I’m pretty sure they’re already scarred for life anyway.
Aw if thats the case then never mind then just one of those subjects that drives me up a wall. The whole little kids playing games they are to young for thing. But I digress, back on topic! Halloween was awesome . Though you have to admit Mad King V. 2.0 was awesome looking.

Let’s just hope she didn’t wake up feeling sore in some… sensitive places the next morning. XD
I can’t believe someone created a thread like this.
No. Please.
In the spirit of all things jolly, I will make sure to serenade monsters with carols as I punch them in the face.

Nope, us Charr have honor, I think she just stroked our fur a little……
Have a holly jolly Wintersday!
It’s the best time of the year!
I’ve got tons of swords and guns,
To make monsters quake with fear.
Have a holly jolly Wintersday,
And when you walk down the street.
PvP with errant glee,
Kill everyone you meet!
Ho, ho, the killing blow,
From behind where you can’t see.
Somebody stealth-ganked you.
Kill ’em once for me.
Have a holly jolly Wintersday,
And in case you didn’t hear.
Maim and murder to survive and see Wintersday,
Next year!
Are you kidding me with the title? Since when is killing things “NOT” jolly?!
If you kill with a smile on your face its a jolly old time!

That was absolutely victorific! (I had to)
are people really this sensitive?
Isn’t laughing maniacally the standard practice while engaging in wanton slaughter? That’s pretty jolly.
