Wintersday was a blast, but aside from the awesome Jumping Puzzle, Toy Apocalypse is what I will miss the most. Nothing like building Snowmen and Siege equipment, while building up defensive walls to protect the Dolyaks. Reminds you of the old school recess days building snow fort’s and waging war

The Achievement may have been dropped down to just needing one left surviving, but myself and many others will always be proud to have led and protected all five. Even Miss Duchess whom always seemed to take the most beating. With only a sliver of health missing on any Dolyak at the end.

Kudos to those that took part and listed in the screenshot!

As somebody PM’d me about this. Yes I realize my score is low compared to the team as a whole. I am disappointed in it myself even. But you really don’t earn points doing the defensive portion. Our setup basically saw the Commanders dealing with Toxx at points while the rest of us were strengthening the walls/snowmen, and upgrading the Siege, as well as healing the Dolyaks.

This actually worked out quite well as in the end all five had survived and hardly had any health missing whatsoever.

All in all, a blast was had!
Happy Wintersday!

Yup, you’ll find that if you go the “engineer” route, your points will be substantially lower, as stuff you built getting kills doesn’t earn you points. Not that points matter at all though.

Feeding the Dollys Hay refiles 1/4 of their health, there’s a little tip to help make the event less fun and quite easy mode

Ah Toast, too true. But, points didn’t matter. At all. Without the ‘engineers’ they wouldn’t have survived after all!
Haha yeah true Angel. First time around though we didn’t have any hay dropping that could be found. Poor Dolyak’s didn’t last to the end, although one did survive till the 10th round.

Still fun regardless. I’ve gone back in a few times just to find other ways to block off the attacks. lol.

Yeah, that’s absolutely a non-issue. In my achievement game(5 dolyaks one), I basically did the sniping while my teammates did the building. I did a couple upgrades/hay feeds when the items popped up near the base, but largely I just took stuff down with the rifle, while my teammates did the base formation. I wish my real weapons had the range on those guns

Needless to say, my score was like 250+ just on kills alone, while the rest of them were under 100, I think. The scoring is a joke. Just like playing a healer in PvP in MMOs, you may be doing the most important job, but it’s the most thankless.
Without the dedicated builders, you really can’t win. Even though I had 3x the points of the others, I know they contributed as much(I daresay more, since the building is alot of boring running around).

I had a score of 2 :P Spent the entire time running around building things. The ONLY way to score points was to kill the toys. Toxx doesn’t give points either.

So really… if you scored over 50 points, you’re really not helping your team out. In my pug, the toys didn’t get close to reaching the dolyaks (Toxx did, but she’s a sneaking little golem). The ballistas and catapults do a LOT more damage than you can as a player.

Yes I agree! I had a blast! I can’t believe there are people complaining about it. People don’t know how to simply sit down and relax anymore.

I also really enjoyed the “Gift Stopper” achievement in Snowball Mayhem. omg, it was hilarious.

My life has a superb cast, but I can’t figure out the plot. -ISLE OF JANTHIR SERVER-

Glektor, I don’t want to turn this into something related to how the healer/support classes are in terms of events participation (topic for another thread/and has been done before lol), but definitely agree as this event does showcase that aspect.

Car, I wondered if Toxx did or not. I don’t recall killing much of the toys period, but did always attack Toxx with the rest taking a break from building up

Archduke, I think it is clear that no matter what Arenanet brings through the pipeline there will be a huddle of players upset and complaining. Happens with all MMO’s. That said, Snowball Mayhem was okay but felt under-balanced between professions/skills (not to mention some items that you could find were useless as it wore out before you reach the enemy lol), definitely preferred Toy Apocalypse though.

Mini-game in Black Citidal involving ore and scrap as your materials and it’s either ghost attacking or charr reclaiming? hmmm? What you think?

Haha that wouldn’t be bad.
Honestly, and I dunno what they have planned, but for getting the lower level area’s regular activity again, such as the dynamic events being done, they should really enroll some mini-games in those starting areas.
More of this type would be nice!
