Just wanted to say thank you for putting weapon skins in the gem store so we could buy them directly instead of dealing with lottery.
Picked myself up a Longbow (reminds me of Gingerbread instead of Wood) and thought it was neat. But was surprised to see what happens when you use it in combat. Very awesome effect!

I wanted to say thank you as well. After the Halloween event and trying so hard to get the greatsword skin, its nice to see that skins can now be purchased for gems. Please do this for future events as well and I will be glad to spend money on them.
There are also non-gem store skins that you need to collect event drops for, but it’s good to give everyone a way of getting event items that suits them.
Here’s my bow. The smoke and snowflakes float around and drift on it (not counting the pulsating glow of the silver etching on the bow already). Pretty neat.

Cool effect, no pun intended. Personally I’m loving that there are skins outside the store that you can get. Got myself a toy staff and it works so well for the holidays and my character.
Yes, nice having new skins that aren’t RNG gambling. I really love the Slingshot Shortbow and going to save up for it. It kinda floats pretty far behind his back though when sheathed.

Came in to say the exact same thing. I was very disappointed in how the total rng thing was done during Halloween (didn’t even bother with the lost shores gem stuff due to it) and this holiday has completely renewed my faith in buying new things from the company during events.
I really like how the special items (Gem store & in game) have been handled for Wintersday! Being able to buy stuff directly & having additional items available through normal gameplay is a huge step in the right direction in my opinion. As it stands now I would definitely get the skins in the gem store as opposed to only being able to gamble for a chance at one, which I wouldn’t do. Hats off to Anet for a wonderful winter wonderland!

Just wanted to add my thanks for putting the weapon skins in the gift shop and in game instead of making them random item with low probability from a black lion chest.
I also appreciate the ability to purchase weapon skins from a vendor and the gem store. My only problem, and, yes, i’m overreacting, is that the slingshot looks like it is floating in the preview screen. I love the other weapons though. Nice job!

^^ Same here. I love to buy seasonal weapons and town clothes. I play FreeRealms with my niece and nephew and have spent about $3,000 in three years for cash shop stuff for the three of us. I am willing to spend some money for the items I want.

And can I put them off again with no ‘harm’ done?

Skins don’t have stats. Whatever weapon you apply them to will keep its stats and sigil, the only thing that changes is appearence.
You can’t “take off” the skin to apply it to another weapon later or anything, but you can use Transmutation Stones (or Fine Transmutation Stones if level 80 item) to pass the appearence onto another weapon.
I thought the wood weapons in the shop were really goofy for the most part (wood is OK for bows and staffs, but wood swords really?), but after seeing the screenshot and the particle effects they’re much cooler. Still don’t like the wood for melee weapons, but the effects are so nice. So thanks for posting the screenshot Spyder.
