Toypocalypse Achievement Stripped
Yes it devalues your achievement. But consider for a second that it isn’t about them making it easier for all the people who were too “bad” to accomplish it.
There are a lot of players like me who were consistently being placed into groups that had already lost Dolyaks and therefore couldn’t get the achievement. Before they changed it I had rejoined/retried a LOT of times and not once did I end up in a group who had just started and still had all of the Dolyaks alive.
They had to change the achievement because they didn’t have the time to change the game mechanic to allow a pre-established party to join. So perhaps try looking at all possibilities before you go accusing them of catering to whinging. I for one am very grateful that they realised it needed to be changed because people were ending up in groups where there was NO possibility of getting this.
dude i cant even do it with 1 dolyak, the amount of people doing toypocalypse by now has decreased, and the amount of bad players is too kitten high!
It took me days early on to do it but there were more players then. With people just going in and out like revolving doors it wasn’t much fun. They never even said hello.
In what way is the value stripped from your accomplishment? You got the reward, right? So you did it as part of a team that managed to keep all dolyaks alive. Noone can take that away from you. Good team work and well done.
I completed the bells with a perfect 600, yet only get 4 presents, same as finishing on 500+. I’ve done the Wintersday jumping puzzle with many seconds to spare (5k life left), reward is the same as finishing it on a sliver of life.
Some minor frustration I can understand because they changed the rules midstream on you, but getting majorly frustrated over it is a bit silly. With each retry you got many presents along the way for completing each wave, so it wasn’t all in vain.
I find it far more frustrating that sometimes in the jumping puzzle you get an empty loot chest for the first run of the day (the one that should drop a big gulp and other goodies).
Shadow, you have dishonored me now because they made the achievement easier! Go to your room!
Come on man, 99% of the playerbase doesnt know nor do they care that you completed it with 5 or 1 or 10 dolyaks alive. If you care that you made it with 5, well congratulations, you can continue on with life knowing that you did it on hard mode.

I’m just a bit confused as to why it matters. There’s no reward besides 20 points, is there? I would understand if keeping all 5 dolyaks alive gave a title, then after they changed it keeping one dolyak alive gave the same title. Right now, I don’t see how it has value to begin with.
Achievements have no value anyway. It’s a bar that changes colour. It shouldn’t have any effect on your level of happiness.
It gives no reward, and if they had omitted it from the start you would have lost nothing.
Why does it matter? Getting the achievement is next to impossible now. People do not set up defenses. People fight Toxx at the dolyaks. There’s no way to beat it now unless you get lucky and have competent players.
EDIT: If you manage to get one of the toys to chase after you (preferably the golem), bring it away from everyone and just kite it. You can “pause” the waves by keeping it alive and buy time for everyone else to build up the defenses.

It’s not a title nor does it count for any account medal or PVP or wvwvw bonus
maybe give those who finished it with all 5 alive originally x5 the anet achievement points for that achievement?
current one is: 20 points for 1
so 100 Points for those who got 5
Though, I don’t know if it’s possible to determine who had the 5 done before the achievement was amended.

No i find it perfectly fair that the achievement was toned down for those who couldn’t complete with 5, but i just asked if those who actually done it, could had kept the original achievement instead of getting the value of it stripped away together with it being toned down.
regarding getting the right group, i did this in the end of the event, i had been doing it repeatedly until i got it. spent days just doing it over and over again, just to see it being wasted effort.
For people having problems on this event, heres how you can do it really easily. You can defend an entire side by yourself if needed, should give the rest of your team time to do something. Anyways…..you basically run in circles with a candy hammer, break everything and place whatever appears where it appears. Slowly upgrade as needed, and once you have a decent defense just start camping the spawns with snowmen and catapults. Once toxx spawns switch to rifle, there will be so many catapults and snowmen that he will never get close to the dolyaks. After hes dead switch back and keep building.
I’ve done it initially with having to keep 5 alive, and it was easier than keeping just 1 alive it seems, or I had bad luck in getting into a bad group. My girl asked me yesterday if I could do this achievement for her and I tried for an hour or two to get into a good group. Eventually I decided to give up, and I simply started building a LOT on one side, simply defending it on my own. But I was lucky to be in a good group, since we managed to keep 3 of them alive for quite some time.
So yes, building and building and building will help you with this. I was only building snowmen and ballista’s btw.
