I was one of the people who completed this with all 5 gift dolyaks alive, prior to the recent changes to the achievement (where you only need to keep one or more alive).

Why was this changed?

The achievement was entirely completable and relatively simple to accomplish.

Rewarding players for their skill is a value that Guild Wars and Anet has always esteemed high.

The “achievement” is worth nothing to me if everyone has it.

Yes, players could join a game that was already in progress, and it is entirely possible that one or more of the dolyaks had already died, or the team was ill prepared for the next wave of toys by the time you arrived… so what?

The event is repeatable.

I admit the first time I attempted the event, I was unsuccessful in keeping all of the dolyaks alive.
I went for a second attempt, and joined a match that was already in progress (obviously due to leavers who had abandoned their cause due to poor performance) logically, I just left the match and re-entered.

Low and behold, the match was just starting and I was able to save all the dolyaks with the help of my team.

It is not rocket science.
If you joined a sPvP match that was already in progress, and you end up on the team that is losing…. You can either:
A) Keep playing and have fun
B) (If all you really want is a win) Leave the match and join another.

The matchmaking for the Toypocalypse is similar to PvP, after all.

This attitude is both disturbing and unfortunate.

I can somewhat understand feeling that way about legendaries and the like… but a silly little holiday achievement that nobody can actually see? Come on; you know that you did the event the “hard” way, so why do you need some brief bit of useless text to confirm it for you?

I’m not a fan of diluting challenges either, but come on. This is not something to complain about in any way, shape, or form.

If this is true, why did everyone complain about it and get it changed in the first place?

Congrats for beating it with all dolyaks still alive like a lot of people. Here’s a cookie.

I find it more of an accomplishment to finish the activity than to keep all 5 gift dolyaks alive. This isn’t a hardcore tower defense game with a deep level of strategy and gameplay.

Because many people on this forum are silly and desperate to whine and complain about every little thing they can think of. Those who complained prior to the change likewise had no fair reason to complain; but it happened and ArenaNet made a change they felt was warranted. They’re not going to revert it simply because they wounded your shallow sense of pride. So, you’re really only complaining for the sake of complaining, and that’s pretty lame.

In the end, it’s a goofy little meaningless achievement. There was and is no reasonable excuse to complain about either of its iterations.

it was an achievment that rewarded 20 points, it was very worth working for it to have it done,
is really saddening to see how Anet is rewarding/encouraging the lact of Work/Determination and making stuff easy for people, just because they want stuff handed to them!!

if thats the case, im gonna start complaining about how some people have Legendaries, i demand to have one mailed to me for free, because im too lazy to work for it!!

While I respect your views and opinions, (and as I have stated before) the achievement clearly is not “meaningless” if so many are concerned with it. I don’t understand how you can make a statement and then rescind your previous statement in the same post…. twice now.

Anet obviously changed it because people were complaining.
I was not complaining because I was happy with the way it was.

I am complaining now because I am unhappy with the changes.
Would it make sense for people to complain about things before they happen?

Is my opinion not allowed to be voiced?

That bites, I beat toypoc with three – i should have gotten the achievement retroactively.

Seriously, don’t care, got the title – I’m done with it.
