Very upset about the music event.
Its not entirely colour coded.
I’m not colour blind but I go by the numbers rather than colours.
Do you even lift, bro?
+1 on this. I’ve also noticed that the AOEs would be incredibly hard to spot for those that are colorblind. This game is not very friendly towards the colorblind.
How about people who are tone deaf? Maybe Anet should cancel it altogether?
I’m sorry if i come across as sarcastic or mean but I hope you see the difficult of being a designer trying to come up with monthly content for the masses.

I still have to know which number, i.e. which color, to tap. If I don’t know the exact color color of what I have to attack, how do numbered keybindings help me?
Edit: Someone just pointed out to me that the lanes are indeed relational to your keybindings. http://i.imgur.com/viYu1.jpg

They go from left to right.
1-4 are the first four from the left, 6-9 are the rest in the same order. The 5 key is not used.

Agree with the above. Maybe not everything is about YOU. Find another way to do it besides color or don’t do it.
I’ve seen a guy who can’t use his arms / hands play League of Legends with a pen and uses his cheek to move the mouse around. I’m sure you can figure out a way to play the game if you try hard enough…..
im angry the music event was not designed for ppl with 1 arm disability!
While I can understand this would be frustrating to you, the rest of the game is coded so that you can pick out colors and avoid. Red circles are bed. White circles are OK. The game is just like this, catering to the, theoretical and probably 99% of the playerbase that is not color blind.
With that said, I dont even see the colors during the music event. I just align the circles coming down the ramps with what #1 my fingers are on.
Ignore the color aspect. I was failing horribly till I realized it’s easier to go by numbers.
Left hand on 1-4 covers left half of the keys, 6-9 for right half with other hand.
Hit those buttons entirely by what row number/loaction they’re coming down from, not by their color.
1-4, 6-9. It’s not complex – no need to pay attention to colour at all.
Resident Thief
I wanted to come in here and just say a part, because I happen to be color blind as well.
There’s no way to do this while focusing on the colors it’s true, though my girlfriend gave me a few tips that seemed to have worked so far.
First off zoom in nice and close so you don’t confuse you’re mate’s lanes with yours. This will make your reaction time less, but at least you make less mistakes. And second, think of each of the first 4 lanes as left hand and the other four as right hand. Then just focus on it from there (the moment the lights hit the white circle it’s a good time to press). It seems to make it much easier this way, even for a colorblind player like me. Hope it helps mate.
I’ve never relied on the colours to do this. I just think of the 8 lanes as piano keys, left four for left hand (1-4), right four for right hand (6-9). Heck, the window of instructions tells you to adjust the camera view to what suits you best.
I’m very upset you wrote a whine post before noticing alternative ways to do the event.
While I have no disrespect for your blindness, I don’t think games should be designed so every single element needs to be usable by every single person.
What you are talking about is something that was overlooked is all, not something that was designed as an evil super plan to bring down the visually impaired, which is why I don’t believe for one moment you feel victimized or disrespected. Provide the feedback, and hope that it is considered for the next event, but don’t make up that you are feeling hard done by because an event doesn’t fully accommodate your particular infliction.
In the same respect, the game disrespects blind people and deaf people too. They seem to manage just fine by employing the help of friends (see the WoW guild where a player is completely blind, and lead around the game by his friend) to enjoy it as much as they can.
What you are claiming is just as ridiculous as claiming that shoe manufacturers are discriminating against people who don’t have legs.
Again I mean no disrespect, but try to see what you are claiming, compared to what the actual issue is. Your feedback is invaluable for future events, but at the same time, you are in no way being victimized as a result of this minigame.
Also as a pianist, I don’t even use the colours, nor would I expect people too. The lanes are laid out in line with the placement of the keys. The colours don’t even come into for me.

Buy a mouse with 12 buttons, problem solved
