It is nowhere closed to “hard”. If you are not happy with this single event, there are always other events you can do. No one force you to do things you don’t like. You can play snowball fight, bell choir or doing the routine dungeons, spvp or wvw. This jumping puzzle gives nothing unique, so why bother to make yourself upset?

It doesn’t matter if it isn’t hard for you and me. They design these puzzles to be extremely hard (the last one was meant to be done by less than 5% of the players) and people find it hard, which makes them hard.

Such things are ok for something that is all year round so they can keep trying at their own pace, but not for something that will prevent you from trying anything else in the festival if you are unlucky with lag and so obstinate that you must keep trying until you do it.

SUGGEST-A-TRON says:
PAY—ONCE—UNLOCKS—ARE—ALWAYS—BETTER.
No exceptions!

TL;DR

All the complainers in this thread are just looking for easy mode because they have a sense of Entitlement for rewards.

This puzzle was just beyond easy. Fun… but too easy. I would have like to have the snowman throw stuff at you to add more fear. I can only pray and hope that they add more Clocktowers to this game.

Majority of people already said that this JP is way easier than clocktower and yet you still complain and say it worse?

You “DON’T” have to do it btw, you can just do 12 out of 15 for the title so whining that you “must” get the achievement is ridiculously stupid.

It’s like you want to be able to do everything easily which is making achievement to be useless in that case.

My point is you don’t like it then “DON’T” do it, it’s just that simple.

If this is the case, then no one can help. It is your choice to play an event that makes you unhappy.

It’s halloween all over again.
Disabled players, camera issues, hitbox, bad design etc…

The new puzzle is easy as hell thanks to clocktower whiners, so don’t start and kitten things up again.

With a bit of luck, I reached the end of the puzzle on my first try this night, thought it was easy enough for everyone to complete, then I went to bed.
Today, I wake up, eager to see the praises for the new jp, and kitten, you guys are whining again.

The main issue of Clocktower was that if you were 1 second too late, you failed. This is removed from Winter Wonderland. There still is a time limit but this time limit is not that hard as the Clocktower.
What still bothers me is the many waiting, just like Clocktower.
The JP itself is not as hard as the clocktower. Graphically it’s well done. Maybe it’s a little bit too short. A big but not so hard JP could be fun as well.

It was much easier. For one there isn’t like 20 ppl jumping. Also it is much easier as I got past the snowball the 3rd time but didn’t watch video to see where to go. But so far I only invested an hour and am pretty sure I will get it by tomorrow when I have time

ArenaNet, did you learn nothing at all from the fiasco that was the Mad King’s Clocktower?

The Winter Wonderland is even worse than the Clocktower. I didn’t think it could be done, but somehow you did it. You made a jumping puzzle that is even more impossible (yes, I know that it’s impossible to be more than impossible, but this is indeed even more impossible). Those of us who have trouble with the existing jumping puzzles (whether because of the movement engine’s fiddly hitboxes, the myopic field of view and lack of depth cues, poor reflexes or disabilities, or any other reason) are completely screwed for this one; there is no hope whatsoever of getting its achievement.

I thought you were going to be inclusive to all players with your content, but apparently there is in fact some content that’s locked away from a section of the playerbase by design.

Do not repeat this performance in subsequent events.

Impossible…? I did this one on the first try, it was incredibly easy, my GF did it on her 4th try, my friend did it on his 2nd.

I’m really disappointed in it, we all had a ton of fun on the mad kings clock tower. It’s too bad..

I enjoyed it. Thanks Anet for the snowballs in the waiting area. It adds a nice little bit of fun between runs.

Also, for those using widescreens try changing your field of view. It’s a nice difference for me.

This jumple puzzle is simple… especially compared to halloween, took me 3 tries.

What they did those is reduce the reward, you barely get anything (which is fine I had fun). So if you don’t want to do it, don’t do it. It’s completely optional.

Some of us really enjoy them. I wish it was as hard as mad king and look forward to harder ones in the future.

Not everyone is a Super Mario veteran, though. I mean I loathe those kinds of games, but for some reason I want to do some of the jumping puzzles in this game. But why don’t they have different levels of difficulty.

A timed thing is always a stupid idea, if you want most people to enjoy it. Some will like the extra challenge this adds; I accept that. But most will hate it for the pure extra level of frustration that adds to the game. If they had at least two difficulty levels (one with the timer, one without it), then more people would enjoy this part of the game. And I wouldn’t care if the easier would yield less reward. I’d be fine with that, but I’m not fine with not being able to really participate without getting instantly frustrated. I’m not playing a game for frustration.

Adding various difficulty levels would help less skilled players greatly without frustrating those who want a great challenge. Not everything needs to be that exclusive in a video game. And also not everyone wants a super hard challenge in a game. I can accept that many people do and they should get what they want, but others just want to relax in a game and don’t want to be frustrated.

As it is now, this game has many exclusive spots that I’m unable to do (mostly jumping puzzles, because I suck at jumping games). I guess I’m not alone in this. And adding different difficulty levels would definitely improve this part of the game and probably I would finally be able to finish some jumping puzzles

And I also think it’s really stupid to have to share a jumping puzzle with other players. Why can’t I get my own instance and a puzzle without the stupid timer, if I don’t like to do it timed? Plz. give us difficulty levels for the next event.

They made it a little less crowded coz they split players among 4 platforms.

However, what I’d still do, would split people based on race (or at least try to do it).

It is still very doable regardless.

seriously the reward is 3 gifts and some crap , it’s really not worth the effort but the main reason loads of people are bashing their head against the wall now is because there is a wall to bash against, if you make a hole in that wall people will crawl trough it, and never know how good it feels to get over it. If a casual player succeeds after 40 tries and bursts into joy he’ll get much more out of it then if he just did it easy mode and made it in one try, without ever trying the hard version. To keep things interesting you need challenges. Now either go out and make it, or do something else of the 1000 fun activities in this game.

Btw bad design, yes indeed, that is why there are many more thank you for this cool stuff posts here then negative ones, on a forum that’s normally all negative, yes indeed.

C’mon guys, this puzzle is just very basic movement with a light timer on it. I spent hours wishing I could kill myself completing the Clocktower and had to step away from the keyboard when I finished it. By comparison I finished this one on like my 4th(?) try and I definitely have old man reflexes. Any average person with close to normal reflexes and a non-horrible computer should have no problems.

The people who can’t complete it seem to be radical outliers with respect to reflexes or computer power. Moving with no mouse, not loading until all the flakes are gone. These are really outlier issues (not saying they don’t apply to you).

To those who are merely finding it challenging you just have to get used to the left/right sway of of your mouselook in how you move in these puzzles. In some ways a speed/timed jumping puzzle actually teaches you how to jump better because you get used to proper mouselooking rather than overthinking lining everything up.

Are you kidding me OP? Stop whining please. It’s optional – so if you don’t/can’t do it, then just leave it be. That and as every echoed in their posts already, its MUCH easier than the Halloween JP, but it still maintains a certain level is challenge which is exactly what we need from these special event puzzles.

Challenging + Exciting JP > Boring Easy Reward JP.

yes because FUN always comes from repeated attempts to FAIL
there should be some sense of getting better not tremendous failure every time everyone should be enjoying this but either cant or find it near impossible to even get past the first few snowflakes
i could care less about the rewards that i dont even like in the first place i would just like to be able to actually complete the damn thing

i will say if i wasnt being slowed down during the puzzle i wouldnt complain but the lack of any ability to do more then a bunny hop due to freezing before i even start is not Fun for me

I’m confused, how are you being slowed down? The only time you need to slow down are for sharp right/left turns and the candy cane area.

Also yes its FUN because you are supposed to learn from your initial mistakes and go further after each try, not repeatedly make the same mistakes -_- Not sure if it’ll help, but I’m sorry that you can’t get it right…

Serious question for you guys, which method do you use to control movements:

  • WASD (left) and mouse view/control (right), or
  • arrow keys to control all movement

Call me old-fashioned but the last time I used WASD and the mouse was in HL2. I’ve been using the arrow keys since GW1 and kind of gave up on the reliance of the mouse usage. I do understand this is what can hinder the progress within the specified time, as you’re running up the snowflakes as you’re constantly lining up the next move with the arrow keys, but others aren’t used to using the mouse (like me) which is obviously a lot quicker while just holding W and hitting the spacebar occasionally. Something I gotta get used to again with the JP’s.

Sounds like a angry casual/weekend warrior, not a teenager.

Then where IS the content for the rest of players?

Bell Choir? Make Snowmen? Isn’t it a little early yet to QQ?

I had to rebind my keys in order to do Bell Choir. I actually ended up liking that one, though my first impression was that it is awful. The snowball arena, on the other hand, I can live without.
