You have to deal the last blow to down them while they are carrying the gift.

Yep, that’s what I did to. keep hidden in trees and behind boulders and then when you see your chance, stealth and hit him with a full charge of your big one shot him and then drop him fast with what ever you have left. I can’t say I eve stopped a group but that’s not what matters, just get the gift carrier at all costs.
