Just a quick thank you for the card I got today from Arena Net. I certainly enjoyed it.

Yeah I remember when I got mine back in 2010. . Has a picture of Logan, Rytlock, Eair, Zojha, and Caithe stockings on it, although at the time I had no idea who these characters were 3 years ago. It also has a bunch of hand written signatures in to too. Thanks for the hint at gw2 long ago Anet.

Then they won’t send you one, they’d lose a (potentially) paying customer :P

Did we actually write our adresses to Anet as players? I do not remember this part.

I suspect it’s for US addresses only, but it’s a nice gesture nonetheless.

They might get the addresses from people who have made gem purchases, since we provide our billing address as part of that.

Assuming they keep a record — all the PayPal payments I’ve made I’ve had to retype my address every time, until this new billing system.

MeMoRY, thanks for that picture. What an awesome card, and now I can picture it in my mind and be happy for everyone that got one!

If i happen to get 1 from them, its going in a frame and going to be showcased all year after i show it off to my friends that play as well.

There is another thread on the forums here about this. A dev chimed in to say that the selection process is secret and it’s not just random players of the game as they do not have all of our mailing addresses.

I live in Europe, and I got one some years ago.

According to the talk page of the GW1 wiki article about the cards if they don’t know the person’s address they will email and ask for it. But it also said the selection process isn’t random so maybe in some cases it’s people who are friends of the developers or had some other involvement which means they already have their address.

They definitely can’t get it from when you put in your bank details to buy gems if that’s what anyone is thinking.

A guildie of mine got one today and as far as I know he’s done nothing special to be noted by ANet (other than being a great guy and darn good at WvW and PvE as well as RP when he takes time to RP — and I believe a solid gem store customer). So I’ll consider it random acts of kindness by ANet.

I got mine today as well. Been playing in Tyria since year 1 of Guild Wars. The card is very nice, but even more impressive is the fact that it’s hand signed by all of the staff. The card is neat, the signatures are awesome.

Mine came today – also UK so not USA only. My wife didn’t understand why I was so chuffed. But then, she doesn’t understand why I spend so many hours playing a video game (as she puts it).

Thank you, ArenaNet – I’ve seen a lot of hate posts hereabouts but all I would say is that the game you gave us has given me personally a kitten load of fun and put me in touch with a special bunch of people (guild, server and game-wide) that I can call my friends. And for that I thank you!

Merry Christmas and may 2014 continue to provide us all with the intensity that is Guild Wars 2!

They just sent it. I’m guessing they got my address from when I’ve bought gems (using PayPal). That’s the only time I remember entering it.

Got mine yesterday! Absolutely love it and was surprised. I plan to frame it. Thank you so much! So fabulous! Oh I know I spend way too much in the gem store. Also whenever I see an Arenanet Player in the game I always send them mail thanking them for creating such an awesome game!
