So…what’s the point of this thread? To be a jerk to the people that make a video game you enjoy?

Why would we be surprised? This happens EVERY SINGLE UPDATE.

Don’t get a patch => people complain the game is bugged.
Get a patch to fix said bugs => people complain for having a patch.

What else?

Maybe because that “hotfix” patch is more than 1.5 Gbyte large.

Mine isn’t. I know my connection can’t download 1.5GB in 3 minutes.

Might want to make sure there isn’t an issue with your disk/ram. Sounds like a big chunk … err wait where are you getting 3GBytes from? The launcher doesn’t give a total size unless they’ve put one in this release(haven’t been paying attention to that).

Roughly Estimated. My hardware is brand new, worked fine so far. I’m almost done with DL’ing, and 3GB is quite precise.

I downloaded few mb. maybe even less than 50. Must be bug at your client that it rechecked some files or stuff like that.

they are one of those people who get more joy out of message board-whining than they ever could out of a game.

at this point, you know every patch in this game (and every other MMO) has many bugs on release………the fact that Anet has an emergency patch the same day is something to be happy about.

…..now if only they would extend that urgency to skill/trait fixes.

Oh darn.. a game company is actually quick about fixing some problems… the horror!!!

It shouldn’t need a patch to fix bugs less than 24 hours after a release. They should test the bloody thing first.

You can’t test everything. Even if you increase the QA team by 100% it doesn’t mean they’ll catch everything. Live has significantly more players doing things than a QA team will ever have. Like bugs can be anything and the Live configuration may be different than the Dev configuration which affects what bugs may or may not show up. It is impossible for a QA team to catch everything image if they tested every hardware that anyone would run for GW2 then add the different settings (low to high) and all the various other settings. Then to top it off test that for every content from WvW to sPvP to Living Story. It isn’t possible to catch every bug. Be thankful they fix critical ones quickly.

Well if you bother reading the forum there was a problem with the Grenth Helmet skin.
And probably some other small ones. Kudos to Anet for being so fast.
Can’t wait to gethome anddownload it.

this is true………i’d be angry if i didn’t get it (and the grenth recipe) already.

but they’ll fix it…..and truth is……you’ll all get it by the end of event (got both recipes within 100 gifts, after playing for a few hours…and before cashing in Glory). we’re not talking BLchest rng here….the giant gifts are plentiful.

EVERY MMO and game ends up releasing a hotfix patch after a big release. It’s inevitable, no matter how many tests, you can’t predict the outcomes when it’s live.

The patch file was around 60MB, I checked, took about 15 seconds to download. It most likely took longer for you because so many others were downloading it at the same time, your internet is slow or there’s some firewall problem you have.

Downloaded it, kept an eye on the size, it’s 55Mb. Pretty usual for a GW2 bugfix.
I also expect at least two more bugfixes in the next few days unless they keep it till the next update.
I still love the fixes. That they fix so many bugs in so short amount of time is great. Some poor dev is probably chained to his chair until the fix is out. Hope they serve tons of eggnog and gingerbred
