In path 2, Alphard gotten buff, potentially one shot the whole party if you try to melee. Instant bomb after aoe scorpion wire nearly impossible to dodge. His spinning dagger attack shoots lightning long enough for you to die. Melee = death. The waypoint after the billion of elite spiders is removed…

No information on this hidden patch. Things like this is annoying to players.

Correction, scorpion aoe wires into instant bomb (the bomb hurts you before it even blows up). Impossible to avoid without a stability. Need to react instantly or die… I find this stupid.

I agree Arena.net really needs to stop the stealth updates. This is simply a QC issue then maybe its time to replace the guy/gal who does QC. At this point its kinda obvious that there not doing there job.

The path gets harder and your first concern is that the people who run the path with 1-2 people are really going to be the ones hurt by it? What about all those people who could barely do the path before, or the ones actually buying the path. Those people don’t have a chance of doing it if the path gets even harder, and why would they even want to try?

On the contrary. Now you will be forced to work together, as it was by design and not nickle and dime the weaker players! I’ve done Arah lots of times with first timers and with people who fail it a lot and they all say the same – “It’s actually not that hard”

So you see, show the people the ropes and they’ll do it.

And besides, after the Simin got nerfed some months ago there was barely any challenge left in Arah. I’m currently at work so I can’t test the changes yet, but some difficulty spike would be great

To be honest, Arah is too easy. Anet screwed it up.

It’s the final dungeon (apart from Fotm but thats a different matter) in the game and the centre of command of Zhaitan’s legions, from both a progression and lore perspective its difficulty should be through the roof. It should test all you have learnt up to this point to the limit, and force you to constantly adapt your strategies. Having a set of Orrian armor should be a sign of pride and skill instead of ‘just another armor’.

But no, at the moment only P4 is really up to that difficulty (and even that could be made harder), with everything else doable by PUGs with very little practice.

I suppose the only thing they could do now us massively up its difficulty and rewards.

Also, have you considered maybe you weren’t supposed to melee Alphard?

This may not be a popular opinion, but I think we need more stealth changes, possibly even more significant ones. Imagine a dungeon run for the umpteenth time and suddenly there’s a new type of mobs, or a new boss (or changed skills on existing bosses), new events or a complete change in path? In a game that features the Living Story this would fit in quite well.

To Grenth with the same old same old! I say shake it up regularly, catch people by surprise and keep them on their toes!

This could be fun in WvW as well, for example if there were unheralded changes to tower and keep layouts for example that would make people have to figure out new defenses and offenses on the fly.

Agree they should make Arah a harder dungeon, not because I’m an elitist jerk or something like that but it’s because it’s the final dungeon of the game.

Arah should be a test, and please revamp the Zhaitan fight I don’t even care if the reason is just “because we had to”, please do a revamp I’m sure no one will care about lore if it makes the fight better than just spamming 2 :/

They can do whatever they feel like to dungeons, BUT please announce stuff like this. It’s like going into a math finals and having nothing but history questions thrown at you.

Also, removing waypoints are a big deal. Imagine all the other dungeon paths losing a few waypoints. Have fun walking back from the beginning… nobody likes that bullkitten.

Unannounced changes to mechanics would work in this manner, in that the text below the mob’s portrait would probably be updated to hint at the new mechanics. I too would enjoy these kinds of unannounced changes to slightly tweak the functionality of different bosses or encounters in a very visible manner.

Unannounced changes to numbers (especially invisible numbers like scaling or recharge times of monsters) is never a good thing, as a player can never be certain if there was a change at all, or if unskilled play is to blame.

Do you… , Do you wear PTV? I mean that has got to be the only way to do ALL of that. Ravenmoon uses zerker I bet, that’s why he can’t solo the same bosses.

Except that players won’t do this. Constantly punishing players only drives away from the game content and the game. I remember doing Arah 2 for the first time using voice chat with guild members who had raided together in other MMOs. Even so using the golem suits ‘as intended’ was a pain in the neck and without the waypoint now … it’s just not worth thinking about. Far too punishing for any inexperienced group that might wipe in the next trash area. Far too punishing if you need all five players across using the golem. With four players across will you really need to all go back and get the fifth player across using the golem suits, is that what the designers intended? Is every group meant to have thieves and mesmers to get a whole group past?

Also, Arah 2 will be in a catch-22 situation. PUGs will never develop common knowledge tactics because nobody will go there. Nobody will go there because there are no common knowledge tactics. Arah 2 will be firmly in the hands of the specialist path sellers.

PVT is the new meta. It always was really, just so many people were deluded by wearing zerker for the longest time. Those poor souls, they will now surely be converted to the cause. PVT and clerics, the gear sets of the future.

The fact that there are people who can SOLO Arah path 2, the hardest dungeon, is one of the problems (I am not talking about fractals). I’m sorry but no dungeon path should be able to be solo’ed, at all. Dungeon paths like these need to have mechanics in then that require more than 1 person to proceed, such as in CoF path 1 and the 4 people to open the gate controller.
The fact that people are able to solo run path 2 Arah is a problem, as well as the “selling” of spots. Dungeons are suppose to be designed to be run by a full 5 person party, and it should reflect that.

What’s the point in changing parts of a dungeon if you’re just going to explain the changes in full detail ahead of time? They want people to go into these and face a challenge and have to overcome it in real time. This is a step in the right direction.

Don’t really get what Anet’s intentions for all the stealth fixes; first they put an invisible wall on the ship skip, then removed an afk ledge near abomination in the next patch, now they (accidentally?) removed a waypoint, make alphard more annoying soo…. sellers can sell higher now since pugs have a harder time doing it, bosses can still be akitten underwater, lupi can still be skipped, even ship skip still works lol.

But yeah, patch notes about dungeons or fractals would be nice, They used to mention world changes in earlier patches (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/updates/Update-Notes-October-22-2012/506037), but stopped doing so. Dungeon team is lost, all is vain.
