- Small havoc groups will likely have a much harder time than in the present borderlands. It’s not impossible, but lots harder.
- The siege hardened gates with the auto-bolt-throwers were unapproachable. If they are set up this way, the fortified wall around the corner is going to be the simple alternative every time.
- Wow, the sup trebs are huge. I couldn’t see the green direction arrow when using it from the rear. I actually didn’t test to see if you could spot it from the side or front, doh!
- Dying than running back alllllllll the way across the map is tiresome. Getting the incontestable waypoint in keeps will be an enormous boon, to which all the other players will do their best to tear down as quickly as possible.
- Lots of the map seemed pretty empty, so I’m not sure how “stressed” the map got. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to play as much as I would have liked (4 hours total). A weekend would probably have gotten lots more play-test time.
- Is the map going to have an increase in player population? I would think so, since it seems so large.
- I am also wondering about the 3 identical borderlands, too. So much space.
They released the WvW beta for a reason
like they will change the whole map lol..
they failed the map seems more suitable for pve not for WvW, servers that enjoy doing PPT might enjoy this but there are tons of players who dont enjoy this at all including me, i dont care for towers/camps/keeps, yes i deffend them but if lost i couldnt give a rats kitten if it was T1 or T3 i just wanna kill people..
now the map is huge and people move in a blob if u kill enemy on otherside of map u wont see them again for a while..
map just need to be like old maps “flat” no weird structures and easy to get from A to B
Honestly guys, which part of the sentence “We do not want another EOTM map (in case u dev and pr guys dont know what eotm is, it is the overflow map called t”he edge of the mists" map) did u not understand?
Honestly tell me which part of this sentence u do not understand and ill change that part so u do understand it.
It was clear to me many months ago that the ArenaNet developers did not get WvW and that the new WvW maps they were promising were going to be EotM-like gimmick maps. I pretty much gave up on the game when I realized it was only headed away from what I enjoy. I came back to see where things were going in case I was wrong because I did once enjoy the game a great deal. Looks like I wasn’t wrong.
We have to face the fact (much as many of us hate it) that we’re getting this map whether we like it or not.
So how to “fix” it?
- There are some balance issues that need to be addressed (the gate buffs for one). This should be fairly simple for Anet to do.
- There are some map “issues” (and I deliberately put that in quotes) that probably we can live with. NPC Mobs, lots of chokes, verticality for no real reason, a maze of twisty passages, all alike. We’ll learn the map better eventually, and learn to deal with these minor annoyances.
- There are some “where is everyone” population issues that need to be addressed. This one is much harder; without drastically changing the map (which isn’t going to happen), or raising the cap (which isn’t going to happen with the CURRENT lag at the current cap), the only solution I see is to try to funnel everyone into one map, not spreading across three identical ones. tl;dr: make this map a replacement for EBG. (or EOTM!) Move the spawn points closer to the lower two keeps to make it more fair. Keep alpine borderlands as-is. So, we wouldn’t have SMC. Big deal.
I like more spaces for Solo Roamers in these Borders, most Solo Roamers avoid EB hence we hang around in the Border Maps, same Maps that will now get replaced. So we really need some places were we wont get Zerged, Cornered or Trapped.
Some ppl say Oasis area however when event happens Solo Roaming around there will become impossible. Also for Scrims/GvG’s or fighting Guilds I really dont see many Open Mob-Free areas either…
ps: If u want EU players to actually test your Maps use a EU server sometimes, just future Expansions or alterations u can keep this in mind, most EU players I know logged after 10-15min due to 300+ Ping #badplanning

True statement.
Most of us who do mainly wvw, will be called “WvW’ers” rather than PvE’ers or Spvp players.
So the poster was correct.
That said, WvW’ers do not like the new map. Period.
I like the new map and I’m a WvW/GvG player.
I think the chokes and map height will make the battles between groups of different size more balanced since the terrain can be used to your advantage if outnumbered.
It really looks like an anti-zombie-blob map.
Only negative feedback I can think of is:
Mid-size and smaller guilds have not been invited to the beta, that I know of, to test these maps havoc or small group roaming gameplay. Instead bigger guilds or WvW only guilds are being invited to give their feedback. The same circumstances occurred with Edge of the Mists. Not all servers have 24 hour zerg coverage, when the zerg isn’t around it is up to scouts and havoc groups to maintain the map. However, many mid to smaller WvW guilds feel neglected. Like their feedback is less relevant than bigger WvW guilds.
It is nice, that bigger guilds get feedback and practice on the new map before they’re released. However, it just mean many mid to small size guilds will be clueless when these maps are released on October 23rd.
halo solved the big map problem quite easily.

skip to 2:42.
grav lifts! or whatever theyre called.
we pretty much already have them although they only propel the user upward. (skyhammer)
I’m thinking ArenaNet intentionally designed the maps larger so I don’t think they would put something in to ‘solve’ the big map ‘problem’.
Main Class – Ranger [Bezerker/Trapper Hybrid]
Main Mode – WvW [Gate of Madness]
I didn’t have a chance to test this new map. I can’t speak for PvE content (I think it’s great that there’re events) but EotM isn’t farm map because there’re PvE events (are they?). EotM map is a farm map because ppl are random and winning there isn’t important so literally nobody cares.

our guild usually runs 15ish people and about 10 were invited in the second and third stress test
Make WvW Eventful! – WvW, 4 years in
Yes, I have 5 lv 80 mesmers – Funny Puns

That’s awesome ty, I wonder why only 10 were invited and not your entire guild.
The new map is awesome the mechanics and the keep design on it, are a disgrace.
Anet is like Stan from the America Dad, always with good intention causing more damage to his family in this case, the game.
